Eccleston Court, which is situated in the leafy area of Eccleston in St Helens, Merseyside, provides specialist nursing care for to older people and people living with dementia.

Eccleston Court has two households, both on the same site, Eccleston Court and Haydock Suite. Both households have wonderful spaces to relax in and enjoy company, including an activities room, hairdressing area, large lounge areas and dining rooms as well as some quite areas for residents to relax with family and friends.

Eccleston Court has a accessible garden for residents to enjoy relaxation and outdoor activities. The home is also adjacent to a lovely park and gardens – very popular for gentle walks.

All bedrooms are for single occupancy and are comfortable and spacious with en-suite facilities.

Haydock Suite has a stunning St Helens RFC area, which was opened by Saints legends Paul Sculthope and Eddie Cunningham. It also has rooms celebrating seaside memories, local history and family life. Eccleston Court also has some quiet themed areas, including one dedicated to music.

All staff receive specialist training and mentoring and really get to know the residents, spending time understanding their life story and the things that are important to them. Every resident has a named key worker who helps develop their own personalised care plans.

Nutritious meals are cooked on site and cater towards service user preferences and any dietary requirements.

My Mum has been a resident of Eccleston Court since May 2019. We realised that the home's CQC score wasn't great, but things were worse than we thought. I provided feedback to the CQC of our first six months of experience and made suggestions for improvements. The charity (which runs the home) brought
in a turnaround manager, who took great strides in making improvements. There were regular meetings to update relatives and much more responsiveness to concerns I had with Mum's care. Shortly after COVID hit us, the manager left and an interim manager was appointed. There was a slight dip in responsiveness and attention to care plans, but that was soon remedied with the appointment of a permanent manager in January of 2021. Already, I have had numerous discussions with him and am very pleased with the responsiveness I've received. There are some very caring staff at this home and I believe it can truly be an Outstanding care home.

This is an excellent care home with wonderful, caring staff. They look after our mum like she is part of their family. We’ve never had any cause to be concerned since our mum arrived at Eccleston Court, which was has been a huge source of comfort after what was a very difficult period.
The CQC ratings
do not reflect what Eccleston Court is actually like. It is very well run, and the staff are extremely kind.
I cannot recommend Eccleston Court highly enough.

The difference in my mum since coming here from a previous home is fantastic. She is always clean, her hair is washed, she is receiving her medication correctly which means she is more settled. She now has vital assistance in eating and drinking. I can't change her deteriorating dementia, but choosing
to bring her to the Haydock Suite is the best decision I have ever made. She is receiving the care she deserves and I can now sleep at night. The staff are always pleasant and helpful, treating residents with dignity and kindness. The activities lady is a gem! I'm always kept up to date about Mum from the suite manager. The atmosphere in the home is one of calm and homely, which is good for my mum, and it is clean and doesn't smell.

My brother is really happy here. The staff are very friendly and always encourage him to join in with activities and self-help. He is always provided with an alternative meal if he doesn't like the menu on the day. The home is lovely and clean and the washing of clothes is good - nothing has been lost
or ruined.

The staff are all very caring and show empathy and respect. All my brother's needs are catered for and he is encouraged to join in with the activities. The home is well run and we have no complaints. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Whilst permanent staff were very good, most of the time the pressure of care and lack of staff meant they could not provide the care required by my sister who was terminally ill and required a very high level of care and support.
Response times were poor, particularly during evenings and mealtimes.
Personal
hygiene was extremely poor, showers and baths once a week are not adequate as is bed bathing which was non-existent.
However, staff were always polite and courteous. Management nowhere to be seen and extremely poor. New systems urgently required, particularly at mealtimes when no care was provided.

A new manager has recently been appointed and a number of improvements have already been made in the home, specifically in relation to the dining room experience and activities for our residents. The Manager’s office has been re-located so that he is more visible. He operates an open door policy so that residents and family members can discuss any issues. Since the changes have been implemented we have received positive feedback from both residents and relatives.

Feels like a home from home for our mum, we find the staff very caring and helpful. Mum is treated with dignity and respect in all aspects of her care. Mum is enjoying the activities provided and we have been advised there will be more added in the near future.
Cleanliness is a high priority but the
decor could do with updating.

Obviously it takes time to get used to a client's situation - health, capabilities and understanding, especially when a client cannot speak. But all the staff understand our brother and communicate amazingly because eye contact and hearing enables the quality of care here given by the staff.

I feel I had to do something regarding Eccleston Court Nursing Home. I visited a friend for 10 years, she died and I carried on visiting. My mother developed dementia and lived in Widnes, but Eccleston Court was the best home around so I was lucky enough to get my mum in, she was here for 9 months and
died. The care she received was the best. I still visit the home now and it's the best. I cannot understand the horrible things that are being said, I think it is disgusting.

Over many years I visited numerous care homes (visiting friends and family members) Eccleston Court ranked amongst the best, hence the reason for having no doubts about Mum being comfortable and treated with care and dignity for her remaining time. Whilst there (seven months) myself and my sister between
us visited her every day, feeding her breakfast and lunch.
Spending so much time at the home, I feel that I am in a position to be of the opinion that Eccleston Court met all of the criteria we expected for our mum!

My dad was in Eccleston Court for just over two weeks for respite. This was the first time he has been anywhere for respite and we, as a family are so happy with the whole experience Dad has had.
He was cared for and looked after so well, which helped my mum and all of us to relax, safe in the knowledge
Dad was is expert hands.
The home is clean and well kept and the staff are all so friendly and helpful.
From the first interaction with the management team I knew we were in safe hands. They asked questions about Dad and encouraged us to bring photos, TV or radio for Dad to have in his room.
Each time any of us went to visit we were warmly greeted by everyone and felt very much part of a family.
I would recommend very, very highly.
Thank you to everyone for your superb service and wonderful attitude to these vulnerable adults and thanks for caring so much for our lovely dad.

My mother-in-law was in need of end of life care. As a family, we were given a list of local care homes that offered the support that she required and we visited a number of them. Eccleston Court was the last home that we visited. Within minutes of being shown around the home, we knew that Eccleston
Court was our first choice. It had a warm, homely feel and the residents that we saw all looked happy and well cared for.
She was accepted by the home and moved in within 36 hrs. Although her stay at Eccleston Court was sadly shorter then we had expected the care and compassion she received at all times from all members of staff was excellent and made a difficult time for our family a little easier.
