This purpose built care home provides accommodation in single occupancy rooms, most of which have private toilet facilities. Some rooms are spacious enough for sharing.

Victoria features TV lounges and a quiet sitting room where residents can socialise and relax. Separate dining rooms are available, where residents can dine together and enjoy each others company. Traditional home cooking is served with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for.

Regular visits are made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist. Residents can also benefit from a range of complementary therapies that can be arranged.

At a time when I needed respite care, the staff at the Victoria Care Home were particularly caring in their welcome. From the outset, I was afforded dignity and care by all that I was assisted by. I cannot fault the management or staff at any level. I was not well enough to take part in any activities,
although I was aware they were available.
Victoria Care Home was warm, clean and comfortable.

Mum lived with me and my family for over 20 years. It was a very difficult decision to place her in a care home. The management and staff at VCH made this transition more acceptable. They treat Mum with dignity and respect. Managers are approachable and deal with queries swiftly and efficiently.

Mum was admitted to VHC in August 2024. It was a very difficult decision for the family to make but her declining health and several nasty falls made it impossible to look after her at home.
VCH have looked after Mum so well - they have tried so hard to encourage her to eat/drink. The staff have treated
her with respect and dignity even at her most challenging times.

My dad moved to this care home from a home he didn't like and the staff here have made him feel so welcome, he loves all the staff and the care the staff give him is amazing, and too puts up with all his hard work. My experience at Victoria Care Home in Rainford has been a very positive one. The staff are caring and friendly with lots of patience. My auntie has been treated with understanding and respect as her Alzheimer's progresses and becomes more challenging. The staff including the management are very approachable
and have listened and dealt with any issues that have arisen and dealt sensitively with my Aunt at all times. I feel that more activities would be really beneficial and flushing handles on toilets for the disabled would be great.

Welcoming, friendly staff. The lovely home is clean and does not have 'nasty' smells. Residents are well looked after respectfully. Staff supported family members as well as residents. Due to the nature of dementia residents tend to wander into other rooms and on occasion move items. I am aware that
every effort is made to prevent this, however, some personal items do not return despite being reported. This can cause distress. I rate Victoria Care Home highly and have no concerns regarding the safety and care of my husband. Management and staff are always available.

My overall experience is excellent. The staff are particularly kind and helpful. The nursing staff understand my needs and are happy to provide the care that I need. The food is my only issue, I understand it is to the taste of most people my age but I have difficulties sometimes. I do have relatives
and friends who are willing to supplement my meals. Overall my experience is good.

My mother-in-law came to live in Victoria in February, she is in the Elderly Mentally Infirm nursing unit due to dementia. The staff have been very welcoming and caring. Our anxieties have definitely reduced and I would definitely recommend Victoria Care Home to others.
The decision for 24-hour care
was a difficult one but we’re happy it was the right decision and feel my mother-in-law is safe and looked after.

The staff have created and maintained a lovely, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, at the same time as keeping constant checks to ensure all the residents are safe and well. There is a lot of music and laughter. The rooms and lounges are always clean and fresh. Residents all seem happy and relaxed. As a

The care from staff is very worrying. My uncle was discharged into this care home to receive care. Within three weeks of being here, he passed away. He was never moved into the home as end-of-life. Nor did any doctor mention end-of-life care. He deteriorated due to lack of fluids and his dignity was
not protected. He was left in bed with severe safety concerns from family, we have raised a formal complaint following his treatment at the home.

I picked this care home as it was in the same village as me, so easy to visit. It was clean and very friendly. The staff are lovely and take great care of the residents, even when some days you can see they are understaffed. I understand, that while in the midst of covid, they were not able to have
a mobile hairdresser in, but think it's about time they brought it back. My only complaint is they have no activities for the residents. They need something more than just sitting in front of a TV all day and everyday.

Job Title: Home Manager at Victoria Care Home, St Helens

Laura has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 20 years. She began as a care assistant before attending university where she gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Adult Nursing. From this point, she joined Victoria Care Home. After many years as a nurse, she became Deputy Manager and now Home Manager. Laura also has a Level 2 and 3 NVQ and a GNVQ in Health and Social Care. Laura is a proud mother to her two children. Outside of work, she is an avid reader and loves to swim.
