Victoria Care Home is located in Rainford and is within easy travelling distance of St Helens, Warrington and Liverpool. The home is convenient for local shops, amenities, public transport and the M62 motorway link.

This purpose built care home provides accommodation in single occupancy rooms, most of which have private toilet facilities. Some rooms are spacious enough for sharing.

Victoria features TV lounges and a quiet sitting room where residents can socialise and relax. Separate dining rooms are available, where residents can dine together and enjoy each others company. Traditional home cooking is served with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for.

Regular visits are made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist. Residents can also benefit from a range of complementary therapies that can be arranged.

All members of staff went above and beyond to make my grandad's time at Victoria Care Home comfortable. The care and thought taken by staff not only for my grandad but also myself, made the time spent there much brighter. I can't thank you all enough for your support and kindness.

My mother has been in Victoria care home for approximately 3 years. She has always been treated very well by all the staff. Although she has dementia she always responds to the staff and gets on very well with them. I wouldn't have any problems recommending the home to anyone having seen the state of
some others.

Overall the care is good. Personal hygiene could be improved. Some days when I visit my Mum she looks quite dishevelled. Always have to ask for nails to be cut as sometimes they are very, very long. The staff are always willing to do them when asked. The staff, on the whole, are good. Don't see management
much at all.

I visit most days to see my wife. The staff are friendly and make me feel welcome. I am very happy with the care my wife receives and is treated with dignity. Laundry and cleaning staff are excellent and the home is kept spotless. There is always activities going on and all the residents that can participate
seem to enjoy themselves. I am very happy with Victoria Care Home.

A big, heartfelt thank you to all the amazing staff on the EMI unit for the outstanding care that you provided to our mum until her passing. You are exceptional and we are so happy that mum spent her remaining year and a half here. Not only did you look after mum, but you provided superb support to

My mother has lived at Victoria Care Home in Rainford for approximately ten years, she suffer from dementia and is now in the advanced stages of the illness. The home is clean and beautifully decorated, providing a pleasant environment. My mother is always well cared for and totally depends on the staff
to attend to all her needs. I have a great respect for the staff who do a very difficult job in a professional and caring way. My family are very happy with the care my mother receives. She is always clean and comfortable and her needs are met very well.

I like that the carers are down to earth. Everyone is very friendly, not too posh. The activities are fun, everyone joins in and tries there best with the singing and dancing including me. I can not fault the food, there is always just enough to eat. Then the staff assist me with my daily needs. I have
never felt embarrassed and they treat me with respect. I love having a cup of tea and a good natter with the staff. I am very very glad that this home was made and I'm glad to have the help and support that I need from the staff. It's like a home away from home and I feel at home here.

I am happy with the care and the health care assistants are very good with all the service users. Trained staff keep me informed and involve me in my mums care. I do think that the furniture could do with being renewed in the lounge, chairs smell at times, of urine. It is more to do with renewal, as
cleaners work hard and keep the home looking clean. Could be more activities/better for the patients upstairs. Therapy groups, training for activity nurses.

We have recently added a new sofa in the main lounge and the team are also planning a deep clean of all other furniture in the lounges. We also have a dedicated Personal Activities Leader who has put together an activities programme for the residents, alongside a year planner which includes special theme days and celebrations throughout 2016. My mother-in-law has been a resident here for over twelve months, the care she has received has been outstanding. The staff are helpful and friendly and never fail to keep the family informed of any incident or medial requirement. My visits here are always pleasurable as they all make me feel really
welcome. My mother-in-law is always clean and comfortable and nothing is ever too much trouble for any of the staff.

My Great cousin has been looked after, so well. Firstly with the "bug" (sickness and diarrhoea) then just after she was recovering along came the urinary tract and chest infections. Thanks to the doctor being called and very kind lady going to collect her prescription, she seems to be recovering well.

My grandmother has been a resident at Victoria for three years. My family and I are very happy with the care and kindness shown to her and us when visiting. The home is always clean and unlike other homes I have visited does not smell. It is furnished lovely bright and modern which the other residents
seem to like staff are friendly and chatty and always have a kind word for you. I would only recommend this home to friends and family.

The staff are caring to all the residents, they are very professional and knowledgeable about their illness. They are also supportive to me and keep me informed in all of my wife's care. The standard of care is excellent . The surroundings are pleasant, and kept clean nothing is to much trouble for
any of the staff from cleaners, laundry staff to care staff and trained staff.

Laura Callan

Job Title: Home Manager at Victoria Care Home, St Helens

Laura has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for over 20 years. She began as a care assistant before attending university where she gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Adult Nursing. From this point, she joined Victoria Care Home. After many years as a nurse, she became Deputy Manager and now Home Manager. Laura also has a Level 2 and 3 NVQ and a GNVQ in Health and Social Care. Laura is a proud mother to her two children. Outside of work, she is an avid reader and loves to swim. Words of encouragement from Laura for someone looking for the right care home would be: “The first impressions always count. Always go and have a look around and get a feel for the place as this is important.”
