The Tithebarn has beautifully landscaped grounds complete with a duck pond, and lies in the historic town of Crosby in Liverpool. The team provide residential care and residential dementia support for up to 42 residents. The Dementia Support House includes a sensory garden, sensory boxes and assistive technology.

The level of care each person receives will depend on their individual needs. This is continuously monitored and reviewed to ensure each person receives the right level of care. Please contact the Home for further information.

My mum moved to The Tithebarn five months ago. During that time, she received first-class care. She started going out on little trips which after being housebound and alone for many years was a big step for her. Sadly her health deteriorated, and she died last week. The care and love she received, during
her last days, were really appreciated, by all the family and were outstanding.

The care received in Tithebarn is brilliant, food good, residents are stimulated. Outings for the residents. The gardens are lovely and the residents can sit out in the fresh air.

Evening meals selection is limited. Soup and sandwiches most evenings, not enough selection.


Residents' clothes are still going missing. Relatives need to be kept informed if and when there is a change in medication or a visit from the GP.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about The Tithebarn. We really appreciate your rating of ‘good’ for the overall standard of the home but we are sorry to hear that you were not happy with some areas of service.


We always make sure there is a variety of food choices and that our residents are consulted at their meetings regarding the menu. Residents are invited to make suggestions and any special requests will be catered for.


Regarding our laundry service, we are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve and our staff also try and encourage relatives to label any new items of clothing.


The senior staff do their best to communicate any changes in health or medication and GP visits to relatives.

The Tithebarn has a lovely atmosphere, more a cosy home than a care home. Managers and staff are all very supportive, caring and always professional. Any problem is looked into promptly and resolved. All the staff go that extra mile for the residents to ensure a safe and happy environment.

I find staff and management both caring, helpful and easy to approach if I have any problems regarding my sister. I can always speak to somebody about it. The home is exceptionally clean and no smells. Would recommend it to any future residents, would like to go there if I needed to be looked after

As far as I can see, the Tithebarn is a very good home. My family have no real concerns about how mum is treated. If we did, we wouldn't hesitate to bring up any points. Yes, the fees are much higher but we think the difference is worth it. The staff seem open to suggestions and ideas. Mum is always
well dressed and hair is done nicely.

My mother went into Tithebarn for respite care in February 2016 following hospitalisation after a fall at home. We have seen that she was well cared for on a daily basis. She was always happy residing there, as she had wished, for many years, to come to Tithebarn when the time came for her to leave
her own home - a recommendation in itself for someone who had visited friends in many care and nursing homes. Sadly, mum passed away in January 2017.
The family were grateful for the amazing attention that the staff provided for her in her final weeks of life. She was kept very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble even though she needed a lot of nursing at times. Members of the family were made welcome at all times of the day and night without us feeling that we were in the way and were impressed by the little things like a sympathetic word and the many cups of tea which came from all staff, not just the carers.
The care received from staff has always been exemplary. There is truly a family atmosphere at Tithebarn and even when I now come to visit another relative, I still get an amazing, personal welcome from the carers, which I appreciate so much.

Both my parents were admitted to the Tithebarn as emergency admissions, neither of them ever wishing to enter the care environment. They both settled in extremely well and were treated extremely well by the wonderful staff that work there.
The staff showed such care for mum when she was in her last
days, they also supported my dad and the family, ensuring all our needs were met.
Unbelievably my dad went on to last for a further 16 months without his partner of 60 years, this is only due to the excellent care provided at Tithebarn. I would recommend this home without reservation.

Simon

Simon Doherty

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Since becoming the Home Manager of The Tithebarn in September 2022, Simon has demonstrated a clear vision and dedication to the residents and continues to lead and inspire his team.


Passionate about delivering outstanding dementia care, Simon has successfully achieved a Dementia Care Mapping qualification. Using this knowledge, Simon improved the Home’s dementia house, focusing on the atmosphere, environment and enhanced activities. His vision is that every person should be supported to live an independent life.


Simon supports residents’ individual interests; activities have included a resident art exhibition, and arranging exotic animal visits for therapeutic tactile resident interaction.

His latest project is to further enhance the dementia house, to give residents living with dementia a familiar environment with items of their past creating positive memories. Furthermore, he is creating a well-being courtyard for residents to enjoy a tranquil sensory space.


Under Simon’s leadership, staff take part in an innovative training programme called Experiential Learning. Simon utilises the Dementia Bus, where staff have the opportunity to experience first-hand what it might feel like to be a resident living with dementia.
