Dundoran is a thirty-one bedroom care home in Birkenhead, owned by Newbloom Healthcare.

The team works hard to provide a safe and secure environment, making sure to meet the individual needs of service users, enabling them to maintain independence and dignity.

The bedrooms are well-furnished and tastefully decorated, and they work closely with their service users to make their room feel more like home, and encourage them to bring personal belongings, furnishings and pictures. They can accommodate couples and those requiring en-suite facilities. The home has numerous lounges, a lively dining room and a peaceful garden which is easily accessed.

My dad moved here very recently.
Really happy with the care that is provided for him.
He is more settled.
The staff are amazing.

It was a very stressful time choosing a nursing home for my lovely 96-year-old mum, but I think we hit the jackpot with Dundoran.
We were impressed that the senior managers took the time to visit Mum in hospital when other nursing homes didn't.
On our first visit, we noted the cleanliness of the place,
the quality of food served and the activities organised to engage residents.
But by far the most apparent and important feature is the warmth and professional nature of each and every staff member. They were just lovely with my mum (and us!).
Sadly Mum lasted less than 2 weeks but the staff did everything possible to make her final days dignified and comfortable. Furthermore, they took care of us offering meals, snacks, drinks and support.
We will always be grateful that our memories of Mum's final days are peaceful ones.
Thank you Dundoran. You are Angels!

My 96 year old nan was moved to Dundoran following an extended hospital stay due to a bad fall this year. Sadly, she was only there for ten days, but words cannot describe the positive impact the Healthcare Assistant and her staff had on our family’s experience and on my very special nan’s final days.
From
our very first interaction with Healthcare Assistant and her staff I was blown away by their commitment to their residents. They were the only nursing home to visit my nan and had done everything they could do to get to know her and see her as a person. This was indicative of everything that was to come. Their care went over and above expectations in every respect, from personal care of my nan to our emotional care. They truly made my nan’s last days very very special. Every single person we encountered was extremely kind, respectful and they also know how to find the joy in very dark times. I wish I could write a much longer review with much more detail and call out all the individual acts of kindness - forever grateful.

Having had my loved one in Dundoran for over 12 months, I cannot fault the genuine care and empathy he and all the family have received. We moved my stepdad to Dundoran following a terrible experience elsewhere. Our family was very anxious and all of the staff made us feel at ease and welcomed us like family. They made reasonable adjustments for my stepdad and truly went above and beyond to made the transition as smooth and stress free
as possible for him and us.
The care they provide for the residents is exceptional and nothing is ever too much. The staff are always so welcoming and you can tell they truly care for all the residents and they know them and their individual needs so well. Dundoran offers great entertainment all year round for the residents and get families involved as much as possible, which was something we had not experienced in previous care homes.
All the staff have made what has been a difficult year all the more easier knowing my stepdad is receiving the best quality care and have offered my mum so much support. Thank you Dundoran.

The most important resource in a care home is the staff. At Dundoran, the staff are warm, supportive, caring and attentive. My mother has had a stroke and is significantly impaired, but she will always smile when a member of staff comes in and greets her. The relationship she has with the staff is one
of the most positive aspects of her otherwise limited life. In the family, we are all very pleased that we chose Dundoran for her - she is in safe hands there.

We spent the afternoon at Dundoran for my aunty's 60th birthday. The staff put on a small buffet and decorated the conservatory to give a lovely birthday feel. They are very welcoming and friendly and did a great job at ensuring my aunty had a special day.

My husband was in Dundoran Nursing Home from August 2021 until his death in May 2023. I was very happy with the care he received there and always felt welcome whenever I visited. I always received the relevant information, by phone or email when things were happening in the home or when my husband's
condition changed. The staff, both in the office and the carers, were always extremely helpful and caring, and I would like to thank them for all they did for my husband and me at such a difficult time in our lives.

Dundoran is a delightful nursing home and a very caring place to trust with your loved one (having visited my mum there for two years on a pretty much daily basis, I believe I can speak with some authority). I cannot fault the standard of care there, which has always been excellent. Although there
have been a few changes in management in the last few years, I can confirm that both the current manager and the overseeing manager are both excellent and well-liked and respected by the staff.
Please do not allow yourself to be swayed by the recent damning CQC report, which was widely covered in the local press. I believe it is entirely unfair and woefully inaccurate. Sadly this report does damage to a decent family-run business (which is already struggling even to balance the books, I believe) and causes great distress to the wonderful carers working there and also the families of the residents.

My lovely mum was in Dundoran Nursing Home from June 2016 until she sadly in passed away December 2022. The care delivered by the lovely staff was amazing and the proof is in how long our mum's time was spent at Dundoran. My mum was always treated with respect and her dignity was always considered and
maintained. The staff work very hard and I feel they should be rewarded for this! You are all amazing, a big thank you!
The home made our family very welcome and we were always involved every step of the way. Activities provided were amazing.

We wanted to thank the extraordinary staff for looking after our dad for the last few months when he’s been in and out of isolation with covid. You are an extraordinary care home. And the people who work there are absolutely lovely led by management who are always so kind and helpful and nothing is

My mother, at 98, now needs professional care which cannot be supplied at home any longer. It is a great relief to see how well she is at Dundoran after a lengthy stay in hospital. The staff always speak well of her and she says she’s happy there when I visit. All the staff are welcoming and always
willing to make time for me if needed. Even though they are all really busy and I would like to just say a very big thank you for that and all you do for Mum. Couldn’t ask for more in a care home.

My husband was transferred to Dundoran after a lengthy stay in hospital and a fall in a previous care home.
I am very pleased with the way he is being looked after. He needs full care now and the staff are caring, tolerant and approachable, always welcoming when we visit and available to discuss situations,
medical and personal, as required. My husband's moods vary a lot but I am confident that he will always be dealt with in a professional and caring manner. Thank you all.

We were so worried, after previous experiences of care homes, for our dad going into full-time care during his final days but we need not have been.
The manager and the staff at Dundoran treated Dad and us with the utmost care and respect and we were made to feel welcome at all times (even when I was
being neurotic because of past experience, they put us at ease!).
The level of care our dad received was exceptional, Dad's level of consciousness during the final days was minimal but in all interactions, Dad was spoken to, explaining what they were doing for him so nothing was a surprise and the genuine caring nature of the staff shines through, from the management and nursing team to the catering and domestic staff.
During the final few days of our dad's life, we were with him 24/7 and we were looked after so well too, emotionally and physically.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Dundoran to anyone whose relative needed care. They were just brilliant.

My dad's been a resident at Dundoran for a few years. Recently he has been really unwell; the care he received was excellent. They are an excellent team and nursed him back to good health.

Excellent care from staff, extremely accommodating - would highly recommend. My dad is really comfortable here and loves the place. The building is beautiful and very well looked after also. All of the residents are given close, individual care to their own needs and are looked after really well.

It is such a relief to have such excellent care provided by Dundoran Care Home. These people aren’t just trained in care, they genuinely do care about residents and it shows in everything they do. From the welcome card on the day my dad arrived to goal setting, meeting all of his needs in a dignified
and kind manner, we could not ask for more. The manager, in particular, has gone above and beyond to ensure everyone is safe, happy and in the most beautiful space possible. The cleanliness standards are impeccable, all Covid guidelines are met and exceeded in a comfortable and respectful way. Huge thank you to all at Dundoran for helping my dad feel like my dad again!
