Chapel House have provided and continues to care for our family member who sadly at 91 fell ill having lived independently with dementia her illness turned our world upside down.
From the point of referral to date, we are so pleased with the care she receives on a daily basis. Communication is excellent
and the level of support given to my husband and myself has enabled us to become family members rather than carers and enjoy time with her.
She is always dressed in her own clothes and staff have great attention to detail.
Having worked in social care for over 40 years Chapel House have given us everything I know she needs and deserves and offers the highest standard of care.
Thank you.

During the 17 months, my mum was a resident at Chapel House her care was excellent. Mum had many complex health issues and advanced dementia. We had looked after her in our own home prior to her going into Chapel House but in the end, found it too challenging and we were exhausted.

As a resident

at Chapel House, she was treated with care, compassion and dignity. There was always communication from the staff with myself regarding her fluctuating condition and the changes that needed to be implemented eg. medication or to be seen by a doctor. Mum always looked clean and well-dressed. The manager, deputy manager and all staff day and night were friendly, supportive and very caring and I cannot thank them enough for looking after Mum so well in her final days. I will always remember their kindness.

My mum has lived at The Chapel House for a few years now. The care she has received has been brilliant. As a family, we can sleep soundly knowing she is being well looked after and look forward to our visits. We’re always greeted with smiley, caring staff who are just as supportive to us as they are
to my mum. A real home from home. Every respect for all the staff there who work tirelessly to play a role in mums care that we simply couldn’t. Thank you!

The care given to Mum at The Chapel House is outstanding and I could not ask for better. The staff have taken the time to get to know her - not just her medical needs but her as a person, they really are wonderful. The communication lines are always open and whenever I phone, whoever answers knows exactly
how she is and how she has spent her time - it means a lot to me to know that she is in such good hands in a community that feels like home.

Reply from Keith Ley, Manager at The Chapel House

After being transferred to Chapel House (nearer to my home), I could breathe a sigh of relief as all the staff are happy, supportive and co-operative. It was a pleasure to be welcomed into the Chapel House home. His last days were supported within an exceptional environment for which my family and I
shall always be thankful.

The nursing and care staff have been magnificent in settling my husband into the life of the home. During the lockdown, they have provided the family with regular contact and unambiguous details of my husband's fight with Coronavirus. Their empathy has made an overwhelming situation tolerable. Their
kindness to the family and my husband has been greatly appreciated.

I have always been impressed with the care Chapel House provides for my mum, but during the present crisis, they have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Well done and thank you to all the staff.

My mum has been a resident at Chapel house for over 12 months after sadly getting worse with dementia. Since mum arrived, the love and care that has been provided to her by all the staff has been excellent. Sadly my dad also became very unwell last year and the staff were able to accept him as a resident
for the last few months of his life, enabling him to be with my mum which was lovely as he had been really struggling without her at home. All the team here are attentive, caring, thoughtful and I feel go beyond expectations to ensure your loved ones are cared for in a professional yet loving manner.

My father spent the last ten weeks of his life at the home having been moved from hospital. Straight from the start it was clear that the management, staff and nursing team were extremely professional and caring in their roles. This put my mother's fears quickly at ease. Throughout the ten weeks they
supported not only my father but my mother massively too, providing her with meals and verbal support. I cannot find any fault or any constructive criticism to offer. They are a credit to their industry and I thank them with all my heart.

Found this home for my Mum last year. Mum receives good care and attention from all of the staff. I was very pleased to find the home as it shone in comparison to others I visited. Mum settled and has a lovely room within the home.

My mother has been in The Chapel House for over 5 years and I have been extremely happy with her care throughout that time. Staff are kind, considerate and attentive. They are most concerned with Mum's comfort, health and wellbeing. The surroundings are pleasant, too and when my mother was able to
go out, I took her on many pleasant walks and local drives.

My husband has been in this nursing home for the last eight months. He was very frail on arrival, but they looked after him so well that he stabilised and settled down. In that time I have been very impressed with the level of care given to him and to all other residents. The staff are kind, respectful
and caring in the way in which they deal with people. They have an attitude of cheerful patience when dealing with and at time difficult and demanding residents which is particularly admirable. Since I am no longer able to care for my husband myself, at home, Chapel House is the next best option. I would not wish him to be elsewhere at this time in his life.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.536)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.536) out of 10 for The Chapel House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.857 for The Chapel House is calculated as follows: ( (30 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.857

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.679 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Chapel House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.429

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
