Loxley Hall is a Cheshire care home that has 40 rooms available for elderly residents looking for a full-time care environment in which to enjoy their retirement.

The home welcomes people with physical frailties and disabilities, having good wheelchair access and a spacious and comfortable living environment.

Loxley Hall is registered with CQC to provide general nursing and general residential care, located in the friendly village of Helsby in Cheshire. Many staff have worked at the home for over 10 years providing good quality personalised holistic care to residents and their families.

The team have provided care for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone’s Disease, Multi System Atrophy, End stage Dementia, Stroke. They liaise closely with external agencies such as hospices and CCG’s to provide end of life care when required. They have provided care to people who have varying communication difficulties.

The home has recently fully upgraded its WIFI capabilities and now has WIFI connectivity in all areas of the home. The team assist residents to keep in touch with families on a variety of platforms such as FaceTime, Skype and MS teams. They have laptops, tablets and IPads to facilitate this also.

They have a thermal camera that enables them to check temperatures prior to entry to the home to provide an additional layer of protection to the home. Graeme, the home's activities co-ordinator has recently become the country's first Recognised Activity Professional following completion of the course with NAPA(National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People), Graeme was approached to pilot the course.

Loxley Hall is situated close to good local amenities and a great deal of scenic Cheshire countryside that residents can enjoy through outdoor trips, arranged by staff for the physical and mental benefits of an active lifestyle.

My mum has recently passed away at Loxley Hall, she was there for the last 12 months of her life, and I'm so grateful she was. Her last two homes did not come close to the level of care and love she received from this nursing home, from management, nurses and carers, cleaners kitchen staff and the events
co-ordinator. The care and friendship given to mum and my family was excellent. I would highly recommend this home to anyone with an elderly relative needing care, as I know what a heart-breaking and difficult time it can be and hope this review helps.

A lovely "home from home" environment - personal and cosy. Amazing patience, support and care from all the team at Loxley Hall. The majority of the loyal carers and nursing team have many years of service and experience based at Loxley Hall - a good understanding of dementia/Alzheimer's Disease too.
The enthusiasm and dedication of the activities co-ordinator is second to none.


We had a stressful few weeks searching for the right home and environment for our Mum. From the moment I walked in to Loxley Hall and was greeted by the manager, I knew we had found the right place. Mum has been resident there for almost two years and we are delighted with the care and attention she receives.


The Loxley team's commitment and loyalty is impressive considering the majority are on a basic wage!

Stacey

Stacey Roulston

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2014

My name is Stacey Roulston and I am currently the Deputy Manager here at Loxley Hall.


I have worked at Loxley Hall for almost 7 years, I started on the bank as a care assistant and I fell in love straight away and soon joined the team full time and haven’t looked back since.


Through the years I have progressed from care assistant to senior carer and worked my way up to a Care Home Advanced Practitioner, Then to deputy manager during COVID. I successfully became the registered manager in 2022. I am currently working towards my NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management.


I am so proud to be part of the Loxley team as they are the most amazing people, filled with love, care and compassion. We have a saying that ‘Our residents do not live in our workplace, we work in their homes.’


Every day in Loxley Hall is different, we have been through some tough times in the last two years, but these have been overshadowed by the many, many happy times.


Our residents are always foremost in our minds and their welfare is our number one priority.

Job Title: Clinical Lead Nurse/Deputy Manager

Joined: 2015

I have been part of the Loxley team since 2015. I was lucky enough to complete part of my student training here and just knew this was the team for me; filled with compassion, care, fun and laughs even through the tougher times. After my student placement, I continued to work with the team in various roles as a carer, domestic, and occasional cook whilst completing my nurse training.


I worked at Halton Haven Hospice after qualifying, providing me with great knowledge and understanding of palliative care and emergencies, but it wasn’t long before I returned to Loxley Hall.


Through the COVID pandemic, I returned to Loxley Hall and stepped back into the family we have built here. Although things were very difficult for residents, families and staff we worked tirelessly to provide the best level of care to all service users. I have now progressed to the role of clinical lead nurse and am so proud to be a part of such a caring and exemplary team. They have built a welcoming and heart-felt atmosphere that I have not seen elsewhere. This is a team that I am very proud to be a part of.

Lynne Williams

Job Title: Home Administrator

My name is Lynne Williams and I am the administrator here at Loxley Hall.


I started my career in admin in 2001 after returning to the UK from a 14-year stay in Los Angeles. I returned to college and learnt all there was to know about using the computer. I went on to complete my NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.


Prior to coming to Loxley Hall, I was a PA at a High School on the Wirral where I worked for 10 years and took early retirement in 2016.


I arrived at Loxley Hall in August 2018 after a turbulent year and found my haven. The interaction with residents and family members gave me a new lease on life and I felt as if I had arrived home, the warmth I felt when I first walked through the doors still surrounds me today.


I thrive on the day-to-day challenges that come my way.

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator

Joined: 1997

I began working in Loxley Hall in 1997 after a friend got me an after-school job as a kitchen assistant. I progressed through ‘A’ Levels and college learning to illustrate children’s books but also maintaining my job in the care home for another 6 years.


It was at this time I was introduced to the possibility of being the activity coordinator as a joint role in two care homes. I was reluctant at first to take the job as I really enjoyed the kitchen assistant role but after some persuasion, I tried the job and found it the perfect role for me working alongside our elderly.


Since starting this role, I have managed to be one of the first Activity Coordinators in the UK to test and trial some of the only activity coordinator qualifications to date. I completed the NCFE Level 2 Activity provision in a care setting, NOCN Level 3 Certificate in Activity Provision in Social Care and Level 2 developing leadership skills. This then has led me to become the very first NAPA registered professional activity coordinator.

David Shimmin

Job Title: Registered General Nurse

Joined: 2002

I first came to Loxley Hall nearly 20 years ago as an agency nurse. I was so impressed with the home I joined the team and have been here ever since. In that time, I have been the Home Manager for a while and the clinical lead nurse for many years.


I have always been very proud of the care at Loxley Hall and can honestly say that the residents here are not just cared for, they are loved.
