We felt humbled by your review! Thank You! We take pride in the way we do. We treat your Dad as our own and he does treat us his children and we love him for that. Most of us find that we found a family in the Home. Treating everyone as their Mum and Dad. Family members like yourselves, who are very understanding and kind to have confidence in us is the the pride that we cherish. Again Thank You, and we are always here if you need anything! Love from Oaklands Team!

Good to hear that you are settling well at Oaklands. And thank you for giving us excellent scoring! On behalf of Oaklands Management and Care Staff Team, I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for your experience with the staff being rushed when short-staffed, mainly at mealtimes and changeover times. I have spoken to the staff regarding this concern. I do know, that this happens. During mealtimes, staff will be allocated to assist residents according to their individual needs. Some residents needs may take time to be assisted, and for those who are independent with their meals, staff may appear to rush in serving their meals. This might be the incident that you are referring to. We pride ourselves in giving the best care and be fair to all residents. We strive to continue to improve the quality of our service and we appreciate your feedback. Rest assured that we will take your concern seriously and discuss this in our daily handover.
Any further issues, please don't hesitate to speak to me anytime.

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.266) out of 10 for Oaklands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.866 for Oaklands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.866
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaklands Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.7
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager
Joined: 2018
Beth started working at Oaklands in October 2018 as a Nurse. She quickly made her mark; supporting the Manager in dealing with the day-to-day running of the Home, she soon took on the role of Clinical Lead and subsequently Deputy Manager. In Summer 2019, she was promoted to Manager and started the process of applying with the CQC for the position of Registered Manager; following application and interview, this was approved in January 2020.
Beth has over 20 years experience as a Registered General Nurse (Management, ICU, CCU, and surgical wards in various settings) and over 10 years experience in Management. Beth has added a number of improvements and we are positive that these will continue for the benefit of the staff and residents.
Job Title: Director and Nominated Individual
Joined: 2008
Following her degree in Modern Languages (French, German, Russian), Nidhi pursued a career at Deloitte where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Nidhi officially joined the family at Oaklands Nursing Home in November 2008, initially focusing on business development, quality assurance, day-to-day administration, contracts, billing and purchasing.
Her knowledge of the Home and its processes were paramount during the Home’s changes in Management in 2018. She worked closely with new Management, Social Services, and the Clinical Commissioning Group to assist in a smooth transition.
Since then, with a stable Management structure in place, Nidhi has been able to concentrate on Governance and oversight of the home, including her favourite part of all - talking to the residents!
Job Title: Director
Joined: 2006
After her Master's in Cognitive Science (studying the brain from birth to old age), Vidhi committed her time to Oaklands in September 2006, introducing quality assurance systems to the home, setting out and sharing the business plans and vision, and connecting the Home with the community and volunteers. Her Dutch family took her to the Netherlands in 2011, where she pursued a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and worked as a Community Dietitian for five years in Amsterdam, specialising in Diabetes, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Underweight. Vidhi brought this knowledge and her person-centred driven practices back with her on her happy return to Oaklands in 2022. Now, as well as Governance, she enjoys getting involved in clinical discussions at the Home, ensuring Nutrition is brought to the forefront of practices, to optimise health and quality of life.
Job Title: Clinical Lead

Having worked in the Care Home environment for almost 20 years, Purity has worked with other providers, thereby bringing a great deal of experience and insight to the team. Purity has vast experience as a Clinical Lead. Focused and determined, Purity will ensure that “things get done”, and done so in the right way: she enjoys guiding staff to achieve and maintain excellent standards of care. Purity is innately caring and therefore a fitting addition to the Home that is Oaklands.
