They are proud to be accredited as part of Barchester’s 10/66 Dementia Care programme, reflecting the enhanced quality of dementia care and improved quality of life experienced by residents at Adlington Manor.

Adlington Manor is a very active home and offers an activity programme that adapts to the wishes and interests of residents. Music therapy is a vital part of the treatment and therapy programme within the Memory Lane Community.

My husband has been a resident for a few months, initially for assessment but then became a permanent resident. As can be expected there was a getting to know you period but things became routine after a short time.
The staff are absolutely wonderful nothing requested is too much trouble and delivered
with a smile and are always friendly.
My husband has no complaints.

Period of stay is nine months. Every effort is made to achieve a high standard. The major problem is they need to use agency workers. It is hard work trying to maintain standards when a chunk of the team does not have the level of commitment as your own employees. The management style is theory y rather
than theory x, so the permanent staff do go the extra mile when but is not guaranteed. Agencies should be forced to show the people they send have minimal training.
My stay has been enjoyable and comfortable. The staff have been supportive throughout. My thanks to all those who work there.

I'm so glad granny is here. The staff are all so kind and whenever I visit, they make me really welcome, however busy they are. The whole ethos of the Manor is led from the top down and is so professional. They combine love and care with clinical excellence, in a way which reassures me so much, as I
worry about granny and we have difficult decisions to make at this time of life. Thank you for being so open and available through all the ups and downs and for allowing our beloved dog to visit granny too. P.s On a lighter note, I love that the ladies and gentlemen can have a glass of wine and watch whatever they would like on the smart tv.

My mother needs an airflow mattress as she is prescribed one but nothing was put in place at the home.
Used underarm lifting instead of equipment.
She requested the commode and was told to "do it in your pad" and when they got the commode they put a bowl that she washes with on the floor underneath
instead of correct equipment.
Fluids were not promoted well.
Didn't give her the opportunity to her brush her teeth on multiple occasions.
Meals were extremely small (a sausage with 9 sugar cube-sized potatoes, served on a small dessert plate) and no choice in what she ate.
Deputy Manager said that her staff were unsure of what size plates to use at mealtimes.
One night she was offered a sandwich or a piece of cake, she chose cake and it was given to her from the carer's bare hand (good time to mention there was sickness/diarrhoea in the home and this was during Covid times), not on a plate or even a tissue. My mother was so hungry she wiped it with an antibacterial wipe and had to eat it.

All the staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient. The bedroom was clean and had ample space. Food was passable and the only comment I would like to make is the meals could have been better.

Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff. I live 200 miles away and with all restrictions in place it has been hard to visit, it is wonderful to live so far away and have total peace of mind in knowing my mother is being cared for and treated so very well. Excellent in all aspects.

My father had two spells at Adlington for over four months with an admission to the hospital in-between. He became increasingly frail. Throughout, we were kept fully informed of his needs and situation. Every cue was given to him medically. It was clear the staff took time to know him, comfort and support
him when we couldn't due to Covid. We were able to speak with or Skype him, and carers would help. It was clear he was fond of the staff. We are grateful to all for making him as comfortable as possible.

Poor communication with mother, she was partially sighted and had dementia. First, she was in her own room with extremely poor reception so Skype calls were a nightmare. Then she was wheeled into the day room where other residents were, who were making a terrible racket. This meant Mum was not able
to concentrate to answer or make conversation.
As my mum passed away I collected her belongings but there were at least three items of clothing missing, to which I rang about and was told I would have a call back the following day, but that never happened. Also, I was shocked to see the state of her fingernails/hands. Over time as a patient there she obviously had had her hands in her nappy and they hadn't been washed properly as her fingernails were engrained with her own excrement.

Overall care has been excellent, especially because of ongoing problems from the pandemic. All the staff are very kind. More daily physio would be helpful as I had a partial hip replacement and more regular visits on Wednesday from the Doctor.

There are no words to describe this care home, everyone is so caring to residents and families alike. Everyone is so friendly it's incredible, my father could not have been in a better place at the end of his life, and when he turned 100, everything was done to mark this incredible milestone. Thank

When my father first arrived at Adlington Manor, he exhibited challenging behaviour and was in decline. The staff were patient and responsive to his needs. During the Covid 19 lockdown, my Dad had a birthday. We couldn't see him, so I was delighted when I was sent a video of him being presented with
his favourite cake with candles on and having 'Happy Birthday' sung to him. He is settled, safe and very well cared for.

After a 4 week spell in hospital, my father had lost a considerable amount of weight and was showing signs of confusion not previously experienced. He was discharged from hospital for intermediate care at Adlington Manor, with a view to building up his strength and general rehabilitation to ensure
he could return home safely.
On the day of his arrival, my Dad was very distressed and agitated, but the staff were kind and patient throughout a very difficult 'Covid' period of lockdown. After 3 weeks, my Dad was strong enough to return home. The staff were always courteous and kind with us as his family and arranged regular Skype calls with Dad as we couldn't visit.
In summary, the staff were an absolute credit to their profession and I would highly recommend Adlington Manor for any families looking for care facilities for loved ones.

The team at the home is made up of fabulous and passionate people who over the years have offered the support needed for me to transition and blend into a new environment which is the utmost concern about moving to a new country away from home.


The two years have enabled me to witness and be a part of a tremendous contribution by the team towards the care of residents and also the shared happy moments with both residents and their relatives.

The joy that comes with these tiny but life-changing events in the home shared by relatives has also been a great motivation to keep working and assisting residents while allowing them the freedom to be their selves.


I hope that I continue to impact lives in the home providing care day after day and providing colleagues with the support required and that the residents have their faces lit up with a smile when they see me.

I was born and raised in the Philippines. After I passed my nursing license exam, I worked in a business process outsourcing company for more than 5 years until I decided to practice my profession, I worked as a community nurse for 2 years and as an operating room nurse.


I have joined the Barchester Healthcare – Adlington Manor Care Home since December 2021, and I have realized I made the right choice. Joining the team, helped build my confidence, and met a lot of wonderful people who are lovely and fabulous. I did not know in myself that I could lead a team, and I am lucky to have very supportive management and colleagues.


More than this, I became more passionate about what I do and how important mental health is. Looking after the elderly people and making a positive difference in their lives has a different kind of fulfilment.

My name is Foyinsola Esther Adenekan. I’m from the southwestern part of Nigeria. I graduated from Bowen University Teaching Hospital School of Nursing, Oyo State, Nigeria and became a Registered Nurse in Nigeria in 2007. I worked as a Registered Nurse at Ogun State Ministry of Health, Ogun State, Nigeria for about 10 years before I left for my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing programme at American International Medical University (AIMU) in St. Lucia from January 2018 to December 2019. I started working as a Registered Nurse at St. Jude Hospital, St. Lucia from January 2020 till October 2022. I joined Barchester Health Care in October 2022 and this was my first experience in a care home, all my previous Nursing experience has been in various units in hospital settings. I am the head housekeeper at Adlington Manor, where I have led a housekeeping and laundry team for 7 years. Our team of experienced housekeepers are responsible for the daily high standards of cleanliness and laundry services in the home. We all like to chat to our residents and are all passionate about making everything homely for them.


I have previously worked in customer services for many years and helped form a local cardiac support group, which has now been running for 25 years.


I enjoy spending time with my family and also playing darts for two teams locally.

I joined Adlington Manor in September 2023 as a Registered Nurse, I enjoy my role at Adlington Manor and getting to know all the lovely residents, I am learning every day. The team at Adlington are very supportive and lovely to work with.


I am from Nigeria in West Africa. I started at a school of nursing in 2009 and completed it in 2012.
I specialised as an Oncology nurse at a National Hospital as a basic Oncology nurse between 2016 and 2017. I practised as an RGN in Nigeria before relocating to the UK in 2021.


When in the UK I worked in the community between May 2022 and July 2023, until I joined Adlington Manor as an RGN.

I am the Care Practitioner on the Rowan Suite. I have worked at Adlington Manor for over 11 years. Adlington Manor is a great place to work and the atmosphere is one of an extended family. I am passionate about enabling others so that each person’s personality and values are at the forefront of everything we do so that no one is ever defined by their condition. Outside of work I enjoy engaging in History and Politics watching documentaries reading books and relaxing with my family. I am a Parish Councillor in the village where I live and recently completed a History and Politics degree with the Open University.

My name is Victor and I’m a registered general nurse here at Adlington Manor.


I joined Adlington Manor in May 2023, with the amazing support I received from the home, I completed my OSCE training to get my pin. I have only been in the UK for the same period of time of joining Adlington Manor. I have been supported by a number of people within Barchester Healthcare and I cannot thank them enough for getting me to where I am today.


Since my arrival and joining the Home, the staff and management have been supportive in all aspects putting me through with everything I need including receiving a series of training to improve my knowledge and skills.


Presently, I work more on our Memory Lane Unit also known as the Rowan unit, the team are always a great support to me if I have any concerns or I am doubting my own knowledge. I feel am growing in my confidence every day.


I am learning a lot from our resident’s; I find it fascinating and enjoying getting to know them.

My interests include a love of the outdoors, walking and cold-water swimming. I also enjoy yoga and reading.
I am married with two grown-up daughters, a horse and a dog which keep me very busy.

I joined Adlington Manor over three years ago as a home Administrator, I love my role within the home and the great team we have. I love the interaction with our residents and the team members alike and I feel like we are one big happy family.


My role at Adlington is to support the General Manager and the Deputy Manager with the business aspect of the home and to also support the residents and their families from the Pre-admission stage through their stay.


I get great job satisfaction by being there to support and by also being supported by the team as we all strive to make a difference to all our residents as Adlington is their home and to also support their families.


I started out as an office assistant, then took my AAT exams, I worked at an accountancy firm completing accounts and Audits. I then progressed to work as a Financial Co-ordinator where I worked for 16 years.


I have settled into this role very well and love every aspect of working for Barchester at Adlington Manor Care Home. I hope this is my forever job.


I have one son who is 30 years of age, he makes me so proud to be his mother.


I love holidays, reading, and walking.
