My brother who was blind and deaf, was a resident for 18 months at Banksfield, having previously had an appalling experience at another care home .
Thankfully during his time at Banksfield, all staff respected his dignity from the outset. We visited frequently and can confidently say that every aspect
of his care was met. He died in March after superb end of life care at Banksfield care home.

I visited my neighbour approx 1.45pm just after she had had lunch. I found her looking fresh as a daisy. The lovely bright clean room also smelt very fresh.

My mother spent the last seven months of her life in Banksfield and was treated with great respect and dignity, especially in the last weeks of her life.
Her carers were superb with her and she was always comfortable in their hands. I take great comfort from the fact she was so well tended during
her last months.

The staff make me feel like a member of their family when I was with my father. Nothing was too much trouble and I was able to concentrate 100% on him with nothing else to concern me. The display of care and compassion was unbelievable.
I was blown away by the way the staff conducted themselves over
a period of days. I left feeling very lucky and privileged to have been able to secure a place for dad at Banksfield. If I had any illness I would jump at the chance to reside here.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.795)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.795) out of 10 for Banksfield Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.895 for Banksfield Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.895

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Banksfield Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Welcome to Banksfield Nursing Home! My name is Simon Linaker, and I am proud to share my journey through the social care sector, a field I've devoted the last five years to, after 8 fulfilling years in healthcare. I began my career humbly as a Hospital Porter and Nursing Assistant, an experience that allowed me to witness firsthand the intricate dynamics of patient care. Through hard work and dedication, I became a Registered Adult Nurse in 2019 where I developed my passion for social care. My current role as Home Manager, I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for all service users. My passion for falls prevention has led me to conduct an evidence-based dissertation that I successfully implemented in my working environment, underscoring my belief that the safety and well-being of our loved ones is the utmost priority. With a Level 5 qualification in leadership and management, I remain committed to continuous improvement, ensuring that our practices reflect the highest standards of care.

In my role, I not only focus on the physical aspects of health but also advocate inclusively for the LGBTQ+ community, demonstrating that everyone deserves to feel welcome and respected within our nursing home.

I am optimistic about the positive changes we can collectively bring about in social care, fostering an environment where dignity and respect are paramount. My goal is to lead by example, encouraging my staff to embrace diversity and treat each service user as an individual with unique needs and experiences. Together, we can create a space that is not only safe but also vibrant and inclusive, allowing each person to thrive. I firmly believe that with compassion and understanding, we can make our community stronger, one service user at a time.
