The modern and friendly care home recently benefitted from a significant investment and refurbishment programme which has created a modernised living environment, designed to enhance the quality of life for residents. This included the full refurbishment of bedrooms, redecoration of the lounge and dining areas, treatment room and hair salon, as well as a brand-new café bar.

As well as spacious and homely living spaces, Dove Court prides itself on its committed and compassionate team. From care assistants and nurses, to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to support residents and their loved ones every step of the way. With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care sector, the home manager leads the team to ensure residents are supported to live the best quality of life each day.

I have been welcomed and felt at home. Staff are brilliant, I want this to be my final home. I can't thank people enough in here, they are very understanding and treat me with dignity.

The staff are very caring, helpful, kind and friendly. Any queries or requests are dealt with promptly. My husband's room is small and in need of an upgrade.

My father was a resident of Dove Court for a period of 4 and a half weeks, whilst recuperating from a serious illness. The standard of nursing and personal care was excellent nothing was too much trouble for the staff. When dad needed further medical treatment a doctor was called promptly and medication
prescribed.
Dove Court provided Dad with a warm and caring environment. All the family were made welcome and the staff were approachable and kept us fully informed. This excellent care, seen and unseen allowed dad to recover and return home which was his expressed desire.

I have been very happy with my care and treatment. Everybody has been kind and helpful. The food has been very good but I have sometimes felt rather over faced by the quantity, which is a good fault.

Lovely, caring staff. Clean to a very high standard. Management extremely helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Initially very sceptical about putting 'pops' in a care home but very happy to say it was a good decision. The time we have left together is now quality time.

My mother has been a resident for just over a year now, and like others, initially, I was concerned not over the care home but the fact that I had to be a part of the decision to place mum in full time nursing care. These concerns were very quickly lessened.
The staff are both professional and caring,
taking time to learn both my mums and our stories.
Yes, sometimes things get missed and occasionally clothing is misplaced but for the size of the unit, the staffing levels and varied needs of residents I find these issues minimal. When issues have been highlighted the staff are very responsive, solution lead and appropriate in approach.
I can honestly say the burden of guilt hasn't gone but I feel relief knowing my mum is settled, appears happy and is thriving.
The hospitality team have worked wonders in supporting my mum to gain weight and enjoy food again, the diet I find is varied and there are always well balanced snacks and drinks available for the residents.

When our very dear friend and former professional colleague became a resident at Dove Court we had our initial concerns. (Based on previous experience of care home visits).
However, we were quickly reassured by the atmosphere at Dove Court. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our friend is treated
with respect and his dignity is not compromised. He seems to be happy, well treated, settled and well fed.

We are very pleased with Dove Court. Would like to see more variation with meals. Seem to have a lot of chips, and cheese on toast. Have had one or two experiences where our mother has not taken her tablets and hidden them in her bag. Not sure whether she has put them in her mouth, then taken them out
when staff have thought she has taken them. Would like a little bit more care with laundry. Keep getting somebody else's clothes.

We have addressed your concern regarding your Mother’s medication with the Unit Manager and staff, and the Home Manager will monitor this on her walkarounds of the home. We have noted the comments about the laundry and are looking to implement a new labelling system. The HC-One menus have recently been integrated into the home and they are working with our Hospitality Team to ensure that nutritional good quality meals are provided – we are sure you will notice and be pleased with the changes.

Have not answered question about activities as I wouldn't say it was poor but believe there should be more stimulation for residents. As far as value for money, find £1,200 a week rather a lot but not everybody is paying that.

The Local Authority and Health Authority do a full assessment based on the needs of an individual and this will determine if that person qualifies for financial support from them. We have many individuals with very different needs which is why we have people funded at different levels. If you would like to come and see me I would be happy to talk through the process with you.
We have a comprehensive activities programme in place to suit the needs of our Residents with different things going on at different times of the day. We are also part of HC-One’s Harmony pilot which aims to improve activities for Residents with dementia. There will be some changes over the coming weeks so please check our activities planners and noticeboards for more details.

Staff have been wonderful, kind, supportive, helpful and caring. The comment also applies to the agency staff as well.
Communication is good and staff have always listened and responded to requests and issues I have raised during the past year.
All staff never fail to welcome me on arrival with
a smile which puts me at ease immediately.
Always a difficult subject due to cost constraints but Dove Court Care Home could do with a coat of paint in main rooms.

The quality of care does differ from one staff member to another. On the whole mum's care does seem to be ok but there doesn't seem to be much interaction between residents and staff. I think this could be down to staffing levels. On my latest visit, I noticed mum was down for curry for her tea but
I mentioned that she probably wouldn't eat it and was told that she would be offered an alternative if she didn't want it, but I wonder how much time is given to residents to decide what they would like.
Mum's clothing is all marked but on more than one occasion I have found clothes that were obviously not hers in her room or she was even wearing them. This can only be down to the laundry staff not taking proper notice when returning items to residents.

We are currently rolling out Customer Care training for our staff to ensure a 'one team' approach and to support greater interaction between staff and Residents. Our Catering Team work to ensure all our Residents are given a choice of meals from the daily menu, with alternatives offered as necessary, as well as noting individual likes and dislikes. We will meet with the laundry team to see how we can improve the service provided to avoid mix-ups in the laundry. We hold regular Resident and Relative meetings where any future issues can be raised. The Home Manager operates an open door policy and is always happy to discuss any concerns in more detail.

What does kindness mean to you?

Catherine is a Registered Nurse with many years of experience in providing care and support for a wide range of people to enrich their lives. She is a committed and approachable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Catherine shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her knowledge and experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Dove Court


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Catherine said:


“The best part of my job is seeing the smiles we get from Residents!”


Outside of work, Catherine enjoys a range of hobbies and interests that include arts and crafts, watching movies and once came runner up on the Weakest Link!
