My mother has been in the home for quite a few years now and for me personally, I cannot find fault with anything. The staff, past and present, have been amazing especially throughout the last difficult 12 months plus with the worldwide pandemic of Covid-19. Brighterkind should be proud to have them.

The Grange is a fantastic care home with kind, dedicated, caring staff. I am kept informed of the well being and the health of my mother regularly. I have found the staff pleasant at all times, and this has made me feel secure in the knowledge Mum is happy and settled. Prior to Covid, I witnessed entertainment
and activities with excellent meals served in a comfortable dining room. I believe The Grange is one of the best care homes in the area.

The whole place is a joke, the level of care was at times non-existent. The least well run establishment I have ever come across. The staff just ignored my mum's buzzer most of the time. She had to get out of bed and drag herself to the door of her room to get someone's attention to help her one time.
Awful place, I feel bad I left her in there for four months. She was stressed the whole time, staff shouting at each other, shouting at residents as well. They lost her clothes and she never got them back even upon leaving. Thank god I've moved her to where she is now, what a massive difference.

My mum in The Grange July to her death 28/04/20.
My dad in The Grange till his death 10/01/20. My mum was told in hospital she needed a nursing home and chose The Grange because it was midway between her house and ours. How lucky we were with her choice. Warm and clean. Always wearing nicely laundered
clothing. Served 3 hot meals a day. My dad wouldn't and my mum couldn't leave their rooms so activities not rated. Despite all problems which arose healthwise my parents were treated not just professionally but with genuine care.

My mother was a resident at the Grange for the two years before her death. She received care of a very high standard. However, more than that, the staff showed a deep commitment to her well-being and human dignity. As far as possible, they helped her feel at home. As a visitor to my mother, I always
received a friendly 'hello' and got to know the staff by name. All members of staff showed the same regard for her whether their role was domestic or nursing. When asking for help, nothing was too much trouble. The whole team cherished my mum, especially as she became frail at the end of her life. I cannot thank them enough.

The staff are so helpful and caring, not just towards the residents but to family and friends who are visiting and listen to you if you have a talk with them. The room my relative is in is very nice and clean and anything can be brought in to help the residents feel at home.
Our family are thankful
they are there and taking care of our family member.
Thank you.

Mum suffered a major stroke which left her unable to speak and move the right side of her body in early 2018.

After 3 months of acute and rehabilitative care, she was moved to The Grange. From the outset, the whole family was made to feel very welcome and we were impressed by the high standard of

not just the facilities, but also the quality and dependability of the care provided. We were very happy indeed with the efforts all the staff made to improve Mum's quality of life, despite the challenges of looking after someone who could not move or communicate easily.

Mum was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2018. After a period of hospitalisation, she received end of life care at The Grange. It was during the last days of her life that we came to appreciate fully the exceptional level of care and support. Many of the staff came to Mum's funeral, something which had a great impact on all of her friends and family.

We cannot thank The Grange enough for their incredible support.

The Grange has helped Dad to ease into a 'different' life. It has not been an easy time but it has been consistently done with compassion.

My mother in law came in following a dense stroke which affected all her daily lung activities. The staff have been amazing and given her the best-individualised care going. They have been professional and when at the end she died, they showed care and dignity. I would recommend this home to anyone
requiring nursing care.

My mother was in The Grange for three weeks for end of life care. The building itself is lovely and my mother had a large cosy room which she loved. The home itself has a very cosy, friendly atmosphere and I found all the staff caring, understanding and helpful. I visited every day with my dad and we
were welcomed by all. The drinks machine at the entrance added a very welcoming touch. I would definitely recommend The Grange to other people. I was shown great compassion when I lost my mother.

My Mother was a resident of the Grange for over 9 years. Initially, she was a very active person and the staff always allowed her to be herself. For the last four years, she has been confined, mainly, to her bedroom due to her very poor state of health. The care and attention was excellent and without
fault. It was also given on a very personal basis with a close bond between my Mother and the carers. It was the staff at The Grange which made so much difference to my Mothers last few years.

My husband came to The Grange Care Home on many occasions for respite when it became necessary for him to go into a nursing home and I didn't hesitate. The Grange Care Home was the one for us, the care, kindness and support given is outstanding. The Grange staff are polite courteous and very kind. They
not only look after my husband but also the family. They are simply the best.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.625)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.625) out of 10 for The Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for The Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.375

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
