The team at Guy’s Court is passionate about enriching the lives of residents. Many of them have worked at the home for over 10 and even 15 years, giving it that warm, family feel.

Providing residential and dementia care, they also provide pre-bookable respite care breaks, which are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves, with the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

The home is thriving, with so many activities and experiences for the residents to enjoy. From animal visits, pamper sessions and musical activities to reminiscence sessions, games and knit and natter. This summer the residents have enjoyed growing their own produce, harvesting it for the chef to use in the kitchen.

The team is passionate about residents having a very active role to play in how their home is run. The home’s resident ambassador takes the lead with residents’ meetings, providing feedback on everything from the menu to the activities on offer, and welcoming new families to Guy’s Court.

In the dining room residents enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays, lighter bites like home-made soups and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Community is a big focus at the home, from school children who regularly visit and take part in activities, to community volunteers, local choirs and members of the neighbouring church. And of course, the team take the residents to enjoy church services too.

There are lots of trips out in the minibus, from Blackpool Zoo, Farmer Parrs Animal World and gardens centres, to shopping and the local beach and docks, a stone’s throw from the home.

The conservatory and lounge area are welcoming spaces to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. And a mobile hairdresser visits for regular appointments in the home's salon.

Thank you for looking after Mum so well. The staff are so caring and treated Mum with great dignity. They really got to know her on a personal level. She couldn't have had better care even if she had been royalty.

Such an excellent care home! Such lovely staff always happy to help, always there if you have queries. The support we have had during both my grandparents being in the home when my nan became ill the support was there. Such a friendly bunch of people, always smiling. My grandad is extremely happy there
and it’s lovely to see him smile with the staff. Definitely recommend!

My mum has been a resident at Guy's Court since January 2019. We had visited the home while looking for a suitable care home and were struck straight away with the caring and friendly environment. Mum was very poorly when she first arrived but has recovered and thrived over the last 21 months due to
the excellent care of the team, and their complete respect and understanding of Mum's needs. The team are well established, very friendly, and not only is the care of the residents paramount, but they always make visitors feel very welcome and are always willing to answer any questions. There are always lots of activities taking place, which is so important. It has obviously been a very difficult time over the last few months with COVID, but management and the team have coped incredibly well over this more than challenging period, and I cannot thank them enough for how they have protected and looked after everyone in Guy's Court.

I had the pleasure of finding Guy's Court for my uncle and aunt when they needed a home together. They provided rooms either side of the corridor for them and helped them settle in quickly.
Over time they were resident at Guy's Court, they were well looked after.
There were frequent activities organised
by the activity coordinator, even theme days where the atmosphere supported the theme with meals to match the occasion.
My uncle was diabetic and had dementia, as his condition deteriorated his mood swings were taken in their stride and when he passed away, he was treated with dignity and respect. They supported us up until and after the funeral.
My aunt had quite specific dietary requirements, the manager and the chef worked with her to try to satisfy her needs.
We only had to leave Guy's Court when they stopped providing nursing care, and it was a very sad day when we did.

Both my parents reside in Guys Court. My mother, since October 2019 and father since December 2019. Both have very different needs which Guys Court meet well. My mother is a permanent resident with complex mental health needs/frailty and my father on respite after a long spell of illness in hospital.
As a family, we like what we see at Guys. Staff are caring, compassionate, welcoming and always have time to talk to relatives about any concerns which are addressed appropriately. It is clean and welcoming and everyone seems very happy here, with lots of activities going on. There has been a change of manager recently who is very approachable, helpful, friendly and proactive. As a family, we are very reassured that both our parents are being well cared for and are happy here. Staff go above and beyond to ensure that residents are happy and comfortable.

I have really struggled to find a respite service for my father that both my family and I are happy with. We have used a few in surrounding areas and would not be returning. My father stayed at Guy's Court for 11 days and I have to say this is the best place that we have come across. The staff were
outstanding and person-centred. They couldn't do enough. We visited numerous times to find my father in very good spirits and that all his needs were taken care of at all times. Most importantly my father also was happy with plenty of staff around. It really felt very homely and made us all feel very at ease
The manager was also very accommodating and very helpful and made us feel welcome at any time. I would highly recommend this home for either respite or residential.

The staff are very caring, friendly, approachable and professional. Some meals aren't easy for the residents to eat due to their disabilities and give up. Not always presented well. food and soup lukewarm. Need for better kitchen/service facilities.
This home is always spotlessly clean with no odour.
The cleaners are on the ball always. Heating often out of order.

All managers and staff have been extremely welcoming and kind to my Great Uncle.
It's everything I hoped it was going to be.
You can tell all the staff really care about my uncle's welfare and dignity which makes it much more settling for a family member like me.

Guy's Court is a pleasant place where all the staff make friends with the residents as well as family members. I don't have any complaints about the way my mum is taken care of and previously my dad before his death. The matron is very on the ball by taking care of any illness or such. I can't say I
have ever seen the care staff standing around, they are always busy.

Visited a friend today in Guy's Court Fleetwood. The home was brightly decorated and warm and clean. My friend said that the food was good and the newly decorated room was large and comfortable.
For the time I was visiting, I observed plenty of staff attending to the resident's needs and was offered
a cup of tea, chocolates that were being shared out and people were chatting together. The atmosphere was pleasant and convivial.

I can only recommend Guy's Court Nursing Home. There is a family atmosphere and a feeling of inclusion which ensures that everyone is made to feel important. The staff are friendly and approachable and they take the views of the residents and families into account. This means that all strive for continuous
improvements.
We have found Guys Court Nursing Home to be very safe and secure and most importantly, I can commend staff on their honesty. If issues arise they are raised, and in the years my mother has been a resident, we have never experienced any losses or breakages, even during recent upheavals whilst the home underwent refurbishment.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.863)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.863) out of 10 for Guy's Court Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.963 for Guy's Court Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (105 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.963

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Guy's Court Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I started at Guy’s Court in February 2020, having worked at my previous home for 24 years in roles including home manager and company director.
As a team we are very passionate about the home and the person-centred care we provide to our residents. We have a wide range of activities and events in the home with a focus on keeping our residents mentally and physically active.
I am very proud of the progress the home has made, which has been achieved working collaboratively as a team, enriching the lives of our residents.
