Laurel Bank is a purpose-built care home offering specialist 24-hour nursing and residential care, providing the best possible alternative for those who are no longer able to manage at home.

The team is passionate about providing high-quality care and are ideally suited to meet a wide range of care needs, from simply helping with day-to-day living through to complex care requirements.

The dedication can be seen in all work the team do, from cooking and hospitality to the wide range of activities organised for residents and visitors.

Laurel Bank have a minibus and regularly take residents to garden centres, coffee houses, museums and the local countryside.

Local entertainment and church groups also visit regularly. Residents at Laurel Bank are encouraged to continue with hobbies they enjoy, such as photography, woodwork, art, cooking and gardening, to name a few.

Wi-Fi is available as well, so residents can access the internet or check emails anytime they wish!

The home is ideally located just 10 minutes from the centre of historic Lancaster and boasts over of the city’s castle, the rolling hills of the Pennines and tranquil Morecambe Bay.

Laurel Bank is 30 minutes from the Lake District and, in the other direction, the seaside town of Blackpool.

Laurel Bank has been exceptional in caring for my mum following an emergency short-term stay due to a fall. It quickly became clear she needed permanent care, and the manager and deputy manager made the transition seamless, ensuring all her needs were met. The administrator handled the administration
efficiently, making the process stress-free. The entire team-nursing, care, and housekeeping-provides outstanding, attentive support. Special thanks to the Pink Ladies, whose fantastic activities have truly lifted my mum's spirits. We're so grateful for the kindness and dedication of everyone at Laurel Bank!

Our mum's care at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home was outstanding, she was treated with respect, such amazing care, understanding and real friendship.
Every time I visited which was most days when I was in Lancaster, there was such a happy vibe, the staff are second to none and went out of their
way to make Mum's life happy, she always had a good laugh and funny stories to tell.
Mum's food was excellent and was given many options if she was not feeling like eating from the menu.
I cannot thank the amazing staff at Laural Bank enough. You are a credit to Barchester.

Mum is making very good progress at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home, both medically and mentally. The recent trips out to a cafe and the park were very much enjoyed by her, the encouragement by the activities coordinator has been particularly outstanding. Mum is also able now to take most of her meals
in the dining room and is enjoying the company.

Word-of-mouth recommendation caused me to choose Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home for two week's respite care. Warmly welcome - all staff are loving and caring. Room is spacious, decor tasteful, surroundings quiet and restful. Dining room is light and airy, spotless, white damask tablecloths and napkins.
Lounge and quiet lounge - chairs and settees arranged randomly - not in long lines or circles with everyone staring at each other. Decorations throughout immaculate. Food always hot, plates hot and well presented. Even after a short stay, I am impressed and overall, I know this home is well-run and the word I would use to describe it is outstanding! I could write more.

I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home and the care they showed my mum (and also support for me) in the 8 weeks she spent with them. Despite her speech problems, the staff built good relationships with her. She really enjoyed all the food which was tasty and varied
and served beautifully on white tabelcloths in the dining room where a huge effort was made to make this social time. There were activities everyday, several lounges plus the garden so residents had a choice of places to sit. The nurses, in liason with GPs, and palliative team made sure that Mum had excellent medical care. At the start of her stay, we had 1 small concern and this was dealt with immediately. I will forever be grateful for the quality of life at the end of her life that Laurel Bank provided.

Initially, Mum came in for respite and initially wouldn't leave the room but gradually, over the month Mum stayed, mixed with others and engaged and now wants to stay. Mum loves the interaction she has throughout the day with both fellow residents and all grades of staff. Mum is also starting to engage
with activities which are at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home. Mum's mental health and socialisation have improved vastly.

Mum has been here since August 2023 and was in poor health and anxious. Since the move here, she has slowly got better and has lost her anxiety. She enjoys every aspect of her care provided at Barchester Laurel Bank Care Home. They organised a wonderful 90th birthday celebration which she thoroughly
enjoyed with her family and friends with her fellow residents.

Mum came to Laurel Bank in July 2023, and since she came, has been welcomed by all staff and fully included.
Mum coming into a home was a huge wrench for us all, but she has fully embraced life here.
In October, Mum celebrated her 90th birthday, and the staff/management went above and beyond to
ensure she had a lovely day and we could celebrate it with her as a family. Thank you all.

Attended the wedding event, I was astonished at the whole amount of effort, the residents were in their best clothing, all the ladies wearing fascinators, and the staff were all on hand for all needs, I have never seen such a happier event. Very well done to all at Laurel Bank.

Hi, my name is Lyndsay, and I am the General Manager here at Laurel Bank.


I am an RGN and have worked in the care sector for over 20 years. I moved over to Lancaster in 2019 from the North East to work for Barchester.


I began my career as a care assistant in 1998 and found that I enjoyed the environment so much that I trained to be a nurse, then transferred to management.


As a manager of a care home, every day is different and, at Barchester, we endeavor to enhance the lives of all residents on a daily basis. We incorporate their life history's and interests when planning activities in the home so that they can live life to the fullest.

I have worked in the care home industry for over nine years. I started working at Laurel Bank in 2018 as a carer, and then, I was promoted to senior carer which I thoroughly enjoyed.


I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.

I had my own business for 20 years as a builder and fancied a change. When I came for my interview for Laurel Bank I knew straight away that this is where I wanted to be. The staff were so friendly and you could see that it was all about the residents I wanted to be part of a team like that. I do all sorts in my role like painting, fixing things and even charity events like car washing day. I look forward to my future here at Laurel Bank.
