Laurel Bank is a purpose-built care home offering specialist 24-hour nursing and residential care, providing the best possible alternative for those who are no longer able to manage at home.

The team is passionate about providing high-quality care and are ideally suited to meet a wide range of care needs, from simply helping with day-to-day living through to complex care requirements.

The dedication can be seen in all work the team do, from cooking and hospitality to the wide range of activities organised for residents and visitors.

Laurel Bank have a minibus and regularly take residents to garden centres, coffee houses, museums and the local countryside.

Local entertainment and church groups also visit regularly. Residents at Laurel Bank are encouraged to continue with hobbies they enjoy, such as photography, woodwork, art, cooking and gardening, to name a few.

Wi-Fi is available as well, so residents can access the internet or check emails anytime they wish!

The home is ideally located just 10 minutes from the centre of historic Lancaster and boasts over of the city’s castle, the rolling hills of the Pennines and tranquil Morecambe Bay.

Laurel Bank is 30 minutes from the Lake District and, in the other direction, the seaside town of Blackpool.

Christmas was very enjoyable-lots of good food and a good atmosphere. Meals were very good and being able to watch the King's speech was excellent. It was nice seeing Father Christmas with such a seemingly neverending stream of presents. Thank you so much.

My husband has been taken into the hospital on December 22nd therefore Christmas day was a mixed experience. Throughout the day all staff were caring and jolly being mindful of the situation. The food was excellent and the gifts generous. Despite the circumstances, I had an enjoyable day with caring

My mum has been at Laurel Bank for over a year. The staff are extremely caring, showing kindness to the residents and their families.
I know that my Mum is very content and is in the safest hands. The staff contact me when they have concerns (which has been only occasionally) to ensure that I am informed.
I have no hesitation in recommending Laurel Bank as a first class care home.

My mother-in-law has now been in the home for over 3 months and in this time I have found the staff helpful and supportive. I have no complaints at all. There have been activities which were well organised and attended.

I moved my husband from a nursing home to Laurel Bank in April. It was primarily to bring him closer to home, so he could see family and friends more often. The whole transition has been perfect, and we couldn't be more pleased with Laurel Bank.

During my father's respite stay, we have all been made to feel welcome and valued. Nothing has been too much trouble, and the care given to my father has been excellent. It has given my mum some valuable respite time. I'm sure we will be using your services again!

After Mum fractured her hip and we could no longer manage the care at home, she was admitted to Laurel Bank nursing home, where she also died on 21st April 2022. From the moment we entered Laurel Bak, we were made welcome. The care was exceptional, friendly, but extremely professional. We can't thank
them enough. Laurel Bank felt like home to all of us.

I am an RGN and have worked in the care sector for over 20 years. I moved over to Lancaster in 2019 from the North East to work for Barchester.


I began my career as a care assistant in 1998 and found that I enjoyed the environment so much that I trained to be a nurse, then transferred to management.


As a manager of a care home, every day is different and, at Barchester, we endeavor to enhance the lives of all residents on a daily basis. We incorporate their life history's and interests when planning activities in the home so that they can live life to the fullest.

Hello, my name is Jamie, I am the deputy manager, here at Laurel Bank.


I have worked in the home for a number of years and joined initially as one of the home's activities coordinators and then went on to becoming a care practitioner, then I got promoted in 2021 to deputy manager!


I absolutely love my role and especially getting to know our residents and supporting the team in the delivery of high standards of care. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends.

I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.

I had my own business for 20 years as a builder and fancied a change. When I came for my interview for Laurel Bank I knew straight away that this is where I wanted to be.
