Our dad, grandad and father-in-law was at Abode for over two years and was always well cared for and was treated very well by all staff. His room was always clean and we knew he was always safe whilst in his room and walking around. All staff were brilliant with my father-in-law and always made him
laugh. As a family, we were always made welcome to see him at any time and always had a chance to ask questions about his health, how he was eating and his general welfare. My father-in-law especially loved it when they had singers visiting or when they were listening to old songs. Thank you to the staff for all their hard work, for caring for our lovely dad, grandad and father-in-law, we always knew he was in safe hands, even in his final moments.

My dad has been with at Abode Poulton since 2nd April.
All of the staff and management have been amazing since he arrived quickly from hospital to make space to free up beds due to Coronavirus.
During this extremely testing time for the whole country, especially the NHS and carers such as your staff,
I must commend all of your team. They are always cheerful and positive and enabled us to call round to the home every few days to chat to my dad safely through the window.
Most importantly, staff recently noticed early that my dad was not himself and called 999. The ambulance took him to hospital where he was treated for sepsis. If it wasn’t for this quick-thinking then the outcome might have been very different.
I just wanted to convey my thanks to everyone on a wonderful service you provide. The communication from the home has also been great with regular updates and we can see that he is being so well cared for and treated with so much dignity and respect.

My mother went into Abode Poulton during the summer of 2019. My sister and I took her from another home which was too large and noisy. Since she arrived here the lovely staff members have done everything to make my mother comfortable, including fixing her hair and nails. She is treated with the utmost
respect and has been given the best of care. Every time I visit I find a clean fresh bedroom and the residents are all comfortably settled in the lovely lounge area, where they can be as sociable or quiet as they would like. My mother has a recliner and she seems very happy! The staff at Abode are genuinely caring people and they are always looking for feedback so that they can offer the most appropriate care. They all have a good sense of humour and seem to know how to handle even the trickiest of situations whilst always maintaining the dignity of the residents. I really enjoy my visits and being a distance away, it gives me complete peace of mind to know our mum is in such professional hands.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.810) out of 10 for Abode Poulton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.583 for Abode Poulton is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.583

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.227 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abode Poulton is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.227

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
