Sherwood Court is a purpose built home situated in landscaped grounds which are shared with its sister residential home Sherwood Lodge. Sherwood Court provides first-class 24-hour nursing and residential care alongside expert care for people with dementia including young onset in the Memory Lane Community. They also provide care for those with a physical disability.

The home has a relaxed, homely atmosphere where staff work hard to tailor the care offered to the individual.

A team of highly-qualified and attentive staff focus on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person. And their dedication can be seen across the board - in cooking, hospitality and in organising activities for residents.

Owners think you'll find they're ideally suited to meet your needs now and in the future.

Dad was on the nursing floor since June 2017, however, stimulation upstairs was lacking, so we were advised to move dad to dementia floor where he has settled in very well.
Staff are all on the ball for his needs.
He dances without encouragement if the music is playing.
He seems so much happier.

Thank you for your kind review, D H.
We at Sherwood Court always endeavour to continuously reassess all residents needs and act in their best interest as required.
Your Dad is very happy on memory lane and has a lot of stimulation available to him.

My wife went into care 01/01/16 - I cannot fault the staff with the care provided in any way. See the tick boxes, I am very happy with the work and provision of the care home.

My wife was admitted from the hospital for palliative care. She was only in the home for two weeks before passing away. The family and i were impressed by the wonderful care and attention she was given.

I cannot praise the Sherwood Court Nursing home highly enough. My dad had terminal cancer and was with them for three weeks until he passed away there. In that time he was happy and made comfortable, the staff were incredible and could not have done more for him. The facilities and cleanliness were
great and he was treated with dignity and kindness while also having a laugh and joke with the staff which made him feel more like an individual. The overall treatment he and my family received made a very painful time much easier to cope with.

In my opinion the current staffing levels (1 nurse and 2 care assistants to 10 patients) is too low to provide the care I expect.
She has dementia and does not receive adequate stimulation and attention.
The staff try to care as much as possible, but staffing levels do not allow them to spend as much
time with them as we would like and the patient's need.

Thank you for taking the time to complete and share your review of Sherwood Court. Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England have recently inspected our home and we are pleased to say that we received a “Good” rating from them. We meet and often exceed the required staffing levels within our home as recommended by both the CQC and by Barchester Healthcare’s own care specialists. We are continually monitoring the provision of activities within our home and have a weekly activity programme as suggested by residents and supported by our own activities co-ordinator, staff and families. We are always open to comments and suggestions and my door is always open to families.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.583) out of 10 for Barchester Sherwood Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.542 for Barchester Sherwood Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.542

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.041 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Sherwood Court Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.6 = 0.441

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
