The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home has just been refurbished and is undoubtedly amongst the finest in the region for resident comfort and quality.

It is situated on the outskirts of Burtonwood village in a quiet, rural location but is less than a 5-minute drive from the M62. It is a versatile home that provides high quality, personalised care packages for a wide range of long-term or guest residents.

This is a 59 bed home with two distinct and separate facilities: The Old Vicarage is an impressive and charming listed building, beautifully restored and refurbished to the highest standard. The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home is designed for both residential and nursing clients, with most bedrooms having en-suites.

The home has developed a great reputation with the Regulators and the Local Authority for providing excellent care in a wonderful environment.

The Willows Unit is a purpose built 25-bed extension especially designed for those experiencing varying degrees of dementia. It is a wonderful modern facility which has many specialist features designed to best support the residents living with dementia. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the home has two lounges, an activities room and a large conservatory with access to extensive private landscaped gardens.

I would like to thank all the staff for their exceptional care when looking after my mum. I was anxious that Mum had to have respite care after being in the hospital, but I needn't have worried. The staff were wonderful and communicated with me every day on Mums progress and how she had settled. They
sent me a video of the room Mum would be staying in, and have been caring towards both my mum and the family, as they are aware of family fears when you are unable to visit. Mum looks happy and is finally getting back to her old self, and this is down to the special care she is receiving, and the regular video calls that they make with her to the family.

Mum initially came to The Old Vicarage for respite, but now a permanent resident. The family's concerns about not being able to view the home due to covid restrictions were quickly alleviated as all the staff are caring, thoughtful, friendly and loving. Mum's words 'they are marvellous'. Mum needed
extra care after a recent operation, and it was a great comfort to know how well she was being looked after. Weekly activities are posted online, which I look forward to seeing. A Covid safe visitor's pod is a God Send, which has recently been fitted.

My husband has been a resident for almost 3 years but he went into hospital last December with pneumonia and lost weight during his stay. The staff were horrified and determined to put the weight back on.
All as expected, but when lockdown came I could no longer visit properly. Since then he has lost
weight steadily and no one from the home alerted me, even though I phoned regularly.
It was only when I asked specifically what his weight was, that I was advised he had dropped to 54kg - from 69kg in 10 months!! He weighs less than I do. I am 5'2"tall and take a size 12. He is 5'10" and was in a size L.
I asked for a copy of his weight records for the last 18 months so I could try and work out what and how it happened. The Manageress refused on Data protection grounds. Whose data are they protecting? My husband's or theirs? Do not rely on this home to keep you informed of your loved one's welfare during lockdown.

My mum has been a resident at The Old Vicarage for nearly a year now. As a family, we continue to be delighted with the love, care and support that Mum receives. The staff are kind, compassionate and dedicated to the resident's care and well being. The activities team do an amazing job providing interesting
activities for the residents to engage with. All the staff are friendly and approachable, keeping us updated and in touch with Mum despite the difficulties that Covid has caused. When we visit the home, there is always a lovely relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Mum loves the food which is homemade and very appetising. We have peace of mind knowing that Mum is getting the best possible care. Thank you all so much.

When looking for a home for my mum it was the most depressing time of my life. I thought I was a failure to her and I was letting her down. I went around lots of care homes and hated every one. I treated it as I was moving in, I needed that feeling you get when you buy a house and you know it’s the
“one.” Well I felt it at The Old Vicarage, my heart skipped and I knew my mum would be safe, cared for and looked after. I waited for a while until a vacancy was available. My mum has been there 3 years now and that feeling I had then is still there, love this place, thank you to all the staff for making this the best decision I’ve ever had.

My uncle receives amazing care at the old vicarage. Staff are caring and kind and always have time for each resident. This is a home from home where the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. As soon as you walk in you can sense a warm, loving place.

Placing a relative into care is a massive decision.
As a family, we wanted to keep our relative at home as long as we could but there came a point when she needed 24hour care that this was no longer possible.
I’ve forgotten how many homes we looked around and it was a constant worry to find the best
one for our relative.
Having found The Old Vicarage/willows we struck the jackpot!
The staff are amazing! Every single one of them! The managers, nurses, carers and maintenance staff, they all care.

Mum has been in this home from September on the general nursing side and from October on the EMI nursing side. I am impressed with the amount of staff and also the true care and compassion given. The staff are able to cope with a sometimes challenging person with a smile and humour.

I have only had the use of The Vicarage Nursing Home for a short period of time but my experience and care mum received was excellent. From the first time I went to view the home I knew immediately this was the place for my 98-year-old mum. The rooms vary in size, really well equipped and most of all
exceptionally clean. The staff always had a smile for everyone, so very caring and I knew she was in really good hands and didn't hesitate with The Old Vicarage being her new home. The food was high quality and all homemade and very appetising. The Old Vicarage Nursing Home is set in a lovely rural area of Burtonwood.

My Dad is at the Old Vicarage to recuperate. The staff and nurses are completely dedicated to their residents. The level of care my Dad has received is second to none. We are all one family and I cannot thank and recommend highly enough each and everyone who works there. Diane the Manager is a wealth
of knowledge and support. The Nurses and Staff are quick to respond whenever and wherever necessary. We are very protective of Dad but we completely trust that he is in safe hands and he has gone from strength to strength and will be coming home soon. The long term residents are treated with respect and dignity, attention to detail and nothing is too much trouble.

My brother has mild/moderate learning disabilities combined with some autistic features. Since my brother came to The Old Vicarage" in February 2018, we have been very impressed by all aspects of the care which my is receiving.
Previously, my brother has not mixed well with others. Now, however, he
relates much more freely. Recently my brother became confident enough to sing a solo and was delighted to receive a round of applause. My brother is very happy at living at The Old Vicarage, where he is treated with great kindness and care.

The Old Vicarage is an outstanding care provider. The food is all home cooked with a good delicious variety on a daily basis. Residents rooms are large and comfortable and kept spotlessly clean.
The quality of care is second to none and is definitely the USP for the Old Vicarage. The staff care for
the residents with love and respect as though they are their own relatives.
I personally witness on a daily basis, the patience, kindness and love the amazing fantastic staff give to the residents. The most important thing for our family is that we can sleep easy in the knowledge that my Dad is being cared for with the same love and respect as what we would provide at home.

All the staff, from maintenance, cleaners, carers, night staff, kitchen and laundry and nurses are all remarkable.
Without their compassion, kindness and thoughtfulness, our family could not have endured the emotional trauma of watching Dad's deterioration.

My Dad spent two and half years at the The Old Vicarage and I could not have asked for a better place. The staff work really hard to ensure the residents feel at home and there is always some activity for them to participate in. Unfortunately, he passed away in July and the care and support I received
during that time was stupendous. It was arranged so that Dad could be brought out of hospital and nursed in his final days by the staff who knew him and cared deeply for him-what more could any family ask for. I have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vicarage to anyone considering a care home for their relative.

What a beautiful home, words cannot express how kind and caring the staff are! It has such a warm, homely and friendly feel to it.
As soon as you walk through the front door, you are greeted by the friendly banter from two staff members in particular. They are always there ready to make you smile and
nothing is ever too much trouble for these two ladies. The friendliness radiates throughout the home and all the staff.....far too many to mention.


I love the transformation of the library into a tearoom.....just makes that visit a bit more special!


My Aunt is truly well cared for and most importantly, she is happy. I can't thank the staff enough for their efforts.

Hi, my name is Jo. I am the Administrator at The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home.


I have been in this position since March 2022. However, I have been working in The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home for nearly 9 years. I started as a care assistant which then led to becoming an activities coordinator. As much as I loved both jobs, when I started, I always pictured myself as the administrator and I can now honestly say I am in the best job which I feel very passionate about!

Hi, my name is Jishadh, although I like to be called Jish for short. I am the Clinical Lead at The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home.


I am a registered nurse with 12 years of experience. I have worked in different countries and sectors, such as in surgery theatres as a scrub nurse and even in a construction company as Occupational Health Nurse. I also previously worked as a Support Manager when I was with my former employer. I am also an M&H trainer.

Hi, I'm Jess. I am the Activities Coordinator at The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home.


I love doing anything from dominos, to dancing, and crafts. I enjoy having lots of fun with all the residents and making them laugh and smile. I've got the best job at The Old Vicarage & The Willows Care Home - it doesn't feel like work when you're having so much fun doing it! I couldn't ask for a better place to work.
