There is on-site parking available for visitors, and the home is situated close to public transport, making it easy to access for visitors and for residents to get out and about in the local area.

The care team and management at St Oswald's House have been excellent. They have welcomed dad into St Oswald's and he's settled into his new home very quickly.
The atmosphere at St Oswald's is very friendly and professional and I'm so pleased that dad is here.

I had my dad in St Oswald's House for 4 years and I could not fault anything about the home and all the lovely caring staff and everybody. The home is kept lovely and clean, my dad was always clean and dressed lovely. I would recommend St Oswald's to anyone. Sadly my dad passed away but I can honestly
say he was well cared for.

My mother was a resident at St Oswald's House for over four years. The care she received during these four years and the support they offered me was superb. Sadly, she recently passed away and I have the ultimate respect for the way they dealt with this. She continued to be treated with great dignity
and respect. I can never repay the team there for their great service, kindness and support over the last four years. A wonderful team. Professional, compassionate and caring.

I attended a function with my friend (resident) on Saturday 13th July, what a fantastic afternoon was put on for the residents with a wide variety of entertainment. Deaf & Dumb singers, a lady vocalist, Morris Dancers, Ukele Band. The staff brought as many residents outside that wanted to come, they
were singing and dancing (in wheelchairs) what a lovely sight. It was no effort for the staff to tend to the resident's needs, they were in and out with them all afternoon.
The Home is spotless, and all the staff very friendly. I have been there at mealtimes, the meals looked very appetising.


The management is very caring.

When viewing the care home all seemed very good. Now my father has been in there on "end of life care" for 3 weeks, the standard isn't exactly what we believed it to be. Always having to ask for things to be done i.e. change bedding, give father a shave and hoover his room, which hasn't been done in
the 3 weeks he's been there. Also, residential nurse doesn't give us an update on father's health, we have to always ask and security there is non-existant, anybody can walk in and never challenged.

All of our rooms are cleaned and changed regularly, and if a resident feels well enough to leave their room and spend time in the lounge we have opportunity to shampoo carpets and move any furniture. We respect residents’ wishes when delivering care, our team did offer to give your father a shave on several occasions which he declined. Our nurses always update families when there are any changes to the condition of their loved one, and can provide detailed information as and when requested. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit their loved one as often as they’d like and at any time, we have a visitors’ book to complete on entry and team on duty 24 hours a day. Our residents’ safety and security is of utmost importance and we take any safeguarding concerns seriously. Thanks again for your review, we appreciate all feedback as it helps us further improve our service.

I would not recommend St Oswald's to anyone. The staff are rude and unprofessional, at one point late last year myself and my mum went to visit, upon entry we were refused to stay any longer because staff members got involved in family issues and took one side of the families favour over us. An ornament
went missing, the staff were quick to accuse us of blaming staff when all we asked was what happened? Which caused a scene and was dealt with very unprofessionally by the manger. We ended up involving CQC, the care homes area manager got involved and resolved the situation by informing us of what happened to the ornament and apologised on behalf of the staff for getting involved in family disputes. After this situation, we didn’t feel welcome visiting because of the staff and felt we were constantly being watched.

What a lovely care home. The reception area is so welcoming. A lovely addition that isn't usually there. The staff are all so accommodating, friendly and can't do enough. This place is so clean and smells pleasant. You can tell the staff are constantly on top of things. I have visited many care homes
and this is by far the nicest! Keep up the good work!

My father had complex medical needs and a degenerative illness, and spent the last two and a half years of his life at St Oswald's, after a traumatic stay in a different home. Throughout his time with them, he received excellent care around the clock and was treated not only with the greatest of respect
and dignity by all the staff but with warmth and affection. I cannot praise the team at St Oswald's highly enough, nothing is too much trouble for them, and they go out of their way to make residents feel as though they are at home, not "In a home". I would not hesitate to recommend St Oswald's to anyone looking for a residential care or nursing setting for a family member, it is by far the best of all the homes I visited when looking for a place for my father.

Visiting to view St Oswald's House without prior appointment, my wife and I were immediately impressed by the friendly welcoming staff, the hotel-like atmosphere and lack of care home smells. We felt very lucky to have my mother in St Oswald's House for the last weeks of her life. Everyone in the team,
whatever their role, has been so caring and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. It is one large happy family; on one occasion, I was at reception when two ex-residents arrived and were greeted with genuinely affectionate hugs.
Totally recommended.

We visited St Oswald's on a Saturday morning to assess whether it would be suitable for my father, from the moment we walked through the reception door the home felt warm and comfortable and this relaxed us. We had heard many horror stories about care homes - but St Oswald's is an exceptionally well
run care home providing a great facility/home for their residents, the staff are very attentive to my fathers' many needs, the kitchen provides excellent home cooked meals every day in line with the residents' individual needs. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they all have a positive attitude to their work, I feel completely satisfied with the facility and have no issue recommending St Oswald's to families who are looking for a facility to care for one of their loved ones.

It was a surprise when we first arrived, I expected a clinical environment, but it was more like a hotel. One of the nurses had already been to my mother's house to assess her needs, so on arrival, everything was set up for her. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Her bedroom and separate
toilet room were very clean and tidy. Before we arrived I was apprehensive about leaving her, but that soon disappeared, I was confident and happy to leave her knowing she would be looked after by the kind carers and nurses, 24 hours per day. We brought her in on a wheelchair because she had been in bed for a long time; but to our shock the next day she was at the dining table and eating, we were so pleased to see her like this. On further visits, we noticed a genuine kindness towards her and other residents. The nurses kept us up to date on her medical and dietary needs and were always willing to talk with us. Other bonuses are the laundry and hairdresser on the job.

My dad has been here for two separate respite breaks. The first positive thing I appreciated was the warm welcome, shown to both my dad and myself, from all the staff (and that includes reception, laundry, maintenance fellas, cleaners, tea makers, activity coordinators), as well as the nursing and care
team. It has a “homely” atmosphere and all the staff are approachable and ready to listen and address concerns, however trivial.
The staff take time to care with compassion and professionalism. My dad still has a little capacity for decision making and his opinion is respected.

We had a difficult situation with Dad as his health had deteriorated this year and he could no longer be safe in his own home. We were invited to St Oswald's for an open day and we took him along and he really enjoyed it. We then had an extremely difficult weekend with Dad having falls and the ambulance
being called out, he was not admitted to hospital as once he was lifted back up he was OK.
On the following Monday, we decided to ask St Oswald's if he could be admitted for ‘respite’ and they were amazing and organised things that day and Dad was admitted. He received excellent care and attention for the limited time he was there and we believe he did feel safe.

The care and compassion, although only for a short period of time, for both my father in law and our family was fantastic. All the staff are very pleasant and attentive. They are all very caring and treat mum with dignity and respect. I have never had cause for any complaints about the care and there are daily activities to help keep the residents stimulated. I feel that mum is safe and happy at St Oswald's and would definitely

Even though my mother was only in St Oswald's House for a short time before she sadly passed away, I could not have asked for better support or surroundings for her in the latter days of her life. My mother had been in another home previously and even though I would class this as very good, the staff/support
and surroundings at St Oswald's House took care to a whole new level of excellence. Not only did they take excellent care of my mother but the care and support they gave to the whole family both during her time in the home and after her passing were excellent and I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for mum and the family.

Both myself and husband are very happy how mum/ mother-in-law has settled into St Oswald's so quickly. The staff are always polite to everyone and are always happy to help in any way they can. It has a homely feeling when you are there. There is always something going on each day for residents to be
involved in if they wish to do so. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. We had looked at another care home before this but it didn't have that homely feeling St Oswald's has. Just a massive thank to all staff as when we leave after visiting we know mum is being well cared for.
