My mother spent her final 3 months at Amber Court. Out of all of the homes we visited, Amber Court stood head and shoulders above the rest. I have nothing but praise for all of the staff here. They were friendly, caring, considerate and compassionate towards my mother and the family. During her final
weeks, the staff ensured she received the best care possible, nothing was too much trouble for them. Although my mother has now passed away, I am so grateful for the short time she spent at Amber Court. On days where we were unable to visit, it was good to know that she was in excellent hands. Mum always had kind words for all of the staff. They made her feel welcome and more importantly, treated her like a real person, not just a resident. We all feel extremely lucky that we managed to get my mum a room here, and I will be grateful for all that the staff did for us for the rest of my life. Amber Court and all of the staff cannot be praised enough. Thank you for everything you have done.

The staff at Amber Court at very friendly and efficient, although it has to be said that some are better than others with regard to residents privacy. The catering is very good, the food is hot and tasty with choices for both lunch and tea. The timing of meals could be better; breakfast is at 9.00AM,
lunch 12.00PM noon and tea is 4.00PM. The gap between breakfast and tea is too long.

My daughter has special needs so I was very apprehensive about her living anywhere but home, but she has settled well and is happy. This is important to us. We feel we have been very lucky to have found this place it is next best thing to home.

Cannot believe what would have happened to me if I had not been introduced to Amber Court. I have loved being cared for here mostly by the excellent and caring staff.

Everyone at the care home has been most helpful and supportive and really good with my daughter who has downs syndrome and can be difficult to understand at times, she has settled in well and seems quite happy which is very important at this difficult time. It has proven to be the next best place to
home.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.119)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.119) out of 10 for Amber Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.419 for Amber Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.419

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Amber Court Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
