It's a very clean and happy place to walk into. All the staff make you feel very welcome. Been round other care homes but this is the only one I would have my mum in. They do everything in their power to help keep my mum safe and happy. She has been there two years.

All staff are friendly and welcoming and pleasant when speaking to the residents. It is always nice to be offered a drink if staff are not too busy. All enquiries about doctors, food, opticians, feet and teeth have been dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction.

During the time my granddad was a resident at Broom Lane he was well looked after and staff supported all of his needs very well. From visiting my granddad often I could see how settled he was and how comfortable they made him during his stay. Staff were all very friendly and taken time to get to know
my granddad and understood that sometimes he could have been challenging. With working in care myself, I know that little things like that mean a lot and make a big difference and we couldn't thank them enough for what they did for him. Also, thank you to the management who always had time to reassure us and keep us informed about my granddad when needed.

My father has only been here for just over a week so it is early days yet.

So far I have found the carers to be extremely helpful and friendly. The food seems to be good and I believe my father to be good and I believe my mother to be comfortable and happy. I have not yet seen much evidence of activities

but I understand they take place.

The staff and atmosphere at the care home are lovely. From my perspective as a daughter, it is a huge support to know my dad is getting the best care and if there were any concerns they would contact us immediately. The staff are professional and friendly with dad. He respects and listens to them but
they can have a laugh together too. He was asked recently what the care home was like? "It's like being at home" was his reply. That says it all really.

I have been a resident in Broom Lane Care Home for two years. I am very happy here and would recommend the home confidently. The directors visit regularly, are polite and respectful, the manager is very caring, listens to all your needs, goes out of her way to make sure you are well cared for, feel
safe and are comfortable. All the care workers work very hard to meet your needs and are so friendly. I would be very happy to stay here for all time.

Kind, friendly both to mum and ourselves lovely to see mum interacting with other residents, singing, having her hair done and great care.

My parents entered Broom Lane Care Home in early October 2018. From the start, the care, attention and kindness they received was exceptional. Sadly my mother died in November, after a very long illness. The carers supported us wonderfully throughout. My mum's passing was very peaceful and I can truthfully
say I am comforted that she died in this home surrounded by these lovely people. Thank you all.

Our family chose to transfer our parents to Broom Lane Care Home following the announcement that their previous Care Home was closing.
Throughout this whole stressful process, the manager and all the staff and carers here have been kind, considerate, caring and dealt with any queries promptly and professionally.
Mum and Dad appear to have settled well into their new home and I feel that this has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of everyone at Broom Lane.
To me it appears to be a bright, friendly and homely place to live.

The staff are of excellent quality and are hand-picked. I have been in quite a few homes in my hometown but this home "takes the biscuit". I think the menu here should be more varied. The home is near the shops which is very handy for me. All my needs are met with a smile and dealt with as quickly.
It also has agency professionals on a regular basis - hairdresser, chiropodist etc.

I was recommended to use this care home for my elderly father whilst we were away on holiday. The whole process from review to collection was very uncomplicated and to be recommended. My father is not the easiest of people to deal with, however, his complex requirements were dealt with professionally
and with a great deal of care by all staff concerned and should he need to go unto permanent care, then I would have no hesitation in using this facility. Many thanks to all concerned.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.078)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.078) out of 10 for Broom Lane Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.370 for Broom Lane Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.37

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.708 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broom Lane Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.333

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
