Lovely staff, always helpful.
Enjoyed having nails painted and looking forward to joining in more activities when mobile.

My mum-in-law has been a resident here for about 18 months now. The care she has received has been excellent and staff have always gone above and beyond to maintain high standards of care. The staff have given my mum-in-law the motivation to regain her independence and to enhance her well being. We,
as a family, are forever grateful for the kindness, care and professionalism.

Broom Lane has a warm friendly atmosphere. The staff are always keen to go that extra mile. Today's party for the Royal Wedding was lovely, bunting, chairs around the TV, a splendid buffet. The staff are very approachable, always willing to listen and help. My mother-in-law thinks they're all old friends
and feels free to ask for anything night and day.
The staff have a good sense of humour and even though they work really hard, they always have a smile.

Each and every member of staff and management provided an unsurpassable level of care and devotion. During my husband's final days, he was surrounded by love and care. Staff came to work early just to check his condition - or stayed late. When their shift took them to another unit, they gave up break
times just to pop in to see him. We were never treated like the family of a resident - we were made 'family' of the care home. I will remember each of them with love and gratitude, always nothing was too much trouble or out of budget, if needed, it was paid for.

A 2-hour visit with a resident where he was invited and participated in 4 games of bingo and broke into some Frank Sinatra songs.

My Mum has been in Broom Lane Care Home and I visited her last Tuesday and it was the happiest I have seen her in 3 years. The staff are fantastic. It is clean and the food is really good. Good on-site parking facilities.

The care my father received was excellent!
I could not have asked for better. My father deteriorated over time, and all the care staff showed compassion. He was kept clean and well fed. There are particular staff members who were especially kind to him. This was greatly appreciated by us as a family.
Thank
you all so much.

Lack of communication with members of staff, losing letters when residents have important appointments and having to rebook, failing to take patients to chemo appts, so sloppy attitude, would not recommend, really gone down so what are you paying more than £2,200 a month.

Reply from Andrew Wood, Director at Broom Lane Care Home

Thank you for your feedback, however, I feel I must comment as I don’t believe this is a true reflection of the care provided at the home.

The incident you refer to was due to a lack of communication between yourself and the home whereby the home was informed of change of plans in taking the resident to an appointment at the last minute, unfortunately, there was then no time to arrange transport.

Caring and compassionate staff. Always ready to listen and reassure. Took excellent care of my mum, sometimes under difficult circumstances, due to my mum's anxiety.
Warm and friendly and got to know the staff really well - really felt comfortable when visiting. Mum was in for respite care following
illness and they made her well again.

Went to see my friend in Broom Lane and was really impressed with the welcome from the staff, the beautiful care home and how happy and contented my friend was in such a small space of time compared to his last care home.
Had a nice afternoon with staff who were caring and helpful to all residents
and would be pleased to return at any time.

On arrival, I felt an air of happiness straight away, just upon entering through the reception area. On being shown to the location of my friend I noticed this was evident throughout the whole establishment. When mealtime arrived and went, it all happened in a very relaxed and de-regimented fashion,
which is good for my friend and everyone concerned. All in all, through necessity, it is a very good place for my friend to be and the future to come.

I would recommend for any other client to go to Broom Lane Care Home, for the reasons that my mother was fully looked after by all the staff. She enjoyed her time there, it was clean, fully equipped, food very good and couldn't do enough for you.

Broom Lane Nursing Home is very clean, the staff are excellent. Will recommend the care home to anyone who needs care. The staff are very friendly and connect with the residents making them feel welcome. Food is excellent, plenty of drinks and snacks. Television rooms where residents can sit and chat
to each other. I would like mum to be able to go back for respite if they have rooms available.

My mother was admitted after a sudden medical complication, thus giving me no alternative to having been able to visit other care homes first. How glad I very soon became. All the staff were very welcoming. I, too, was welcomed and cared for, being assured that it was my mother's home now and I should
be a part of it. She was always clean, warm, happy and contented. There was always someone coming to talk to her and ask if she needed anything. It was obvious she was safe and settled. I can't praise the staff, the home and the procedures enough. They are outstanding. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.078)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.078) out of 10 for Broom Lane Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.370 for Broom Lane Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.37

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.708 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broom Lane Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.333

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
