Since my mum has been here she is very well looked after, staff are so friendly, the manager is so prompt in anything we ask. Very happy, like home.

Caring, respectful, and professional staff and management, nothing too much trouble. Clean environment and always has a pleasant happy atmosphere whenever I have visited. The carers interact with my husband which he loves, as he always wants to dance with them.

I find the staff in this place friendly and helpful they frequently go above and beyond in their delivery of care to my Dad. Dad looks so much better since being a resident he isn't as sleepy and is more interactive with me and my sister and his memory seems better he even remembers to use his walking
frame and the importance of wearing his slippers. He frequently says how nice the food is and he is constantly saying how nice the carers are.

Dad came into Chapel Lodge, a very scared, emotional man. He didn't want to give up his home but reluctantly agreed I couldn't care for him on my own any longer. Visiting him in his new home, with a park view was quite scary for us as I didn't know how he would be. Well, he was so, so happy, the staff
there honestly are angels, dedicated to the residence. He is now saying "I can recommend this place" "It's wonderful" he cries with happiness. They look after him. The food looks delicious, he has cups of tea, cake, and meals. He got a cake with candles on his birthday. He even goes to the games room. He goes on the trips. I could go on - wonderful, kind, caring place - 100% perfect. Love it, Dad is happy.

Although both my parents are at times a challenge to keep happy, the care staff and management have been very accommodating to meet their needs. For example, they kindly converted two rooms next to each other into a bedroom and lounge so that they could be together and have their privacy. A particular
member of staff went above and beyond to get them a two-seater settee to make it more comfortable and homely. It has taken time, but my parents now consider Chapel Lodge as their home, which is a testament to the care provided by the whole team.

My husband was discharged to Chapel Lodge from hospital on comfort care in November. On our first visit the care home manager was very supportive and helpful in helping us navigate this difficult change. He encouraged us to choose a suitable room and since then he has readily engaged with us any time
we have had queries or questions. The team he manages seems to be happy in their work and the home is well run. The home has a lovely welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. As a family we cannot fault his care at Chapel Lodge and the staff are excellent and work very hard at being resident-centred and respectful. All the staff we have encountered are efficient and very caring. They readily engage with all family members and are very welcoming. The home-cooked meals are excellent with good choices. A real home from home, would highly recommend. Thank you for all your hard work.

My sister has been a resident in Chapel Lodge for a couple of years now. All the staff make you feel welcome, are polite and friendly. They are approachable all the time to discuss my sister's care and will phone me is necessary. The staff all care in a professional way and when we are visiting, my
sister will call out if a staff member is passing her room, every time they will call in say hello and greet her with a warm friendly smile. We know her dementia is worsening but the staff treat her with kindness, understanding and dignity. My sister always says they are looking after me here and if I need assistance there is someone there for me. Her room is clean and tidy and is personalised to make it more homely.

My mum has been in nursing care at Chapel Lodge Care Home for several months. All staff and management are excellent. Everyone is welcoming, friendly and professional, showing patience and understanding. This includes domestic staff and maintenance man as the home is clean and well presented. Any issues
are resolved as soon as possible. The office staff are very helpful and kind. Any of my concerns are listened to and acted upon and the nursing staff explain situations in a kind manner.
My mum is treated with dignity and respect and this is very important to our family due to her dementia. I feel she is listened to and encouraged at all times. Activities are very good, including manicures and trips out.
I would recommend Chapel Lodge Care Home to anyone considering or requiring 24-hour care for themselves or family members.

Chapel Lodge Care Home is a wonderful caring care home, Mum is a resident at the moment. The care staff go 110% and go that extra mile. It was Mum's 90th birthday yesterday, they could not do enough to make sure Mum had a wonderful birthday. Mum wanted fish and chips, the manager went to get them. Mum
had a cake with candles, we had a separate room with a beautiful set table. A carer was exceptional, she helped us with Mum. She set up the room with banners, the home provided us with coffee so we could have the birthday cake. A wonderful birthday day experience for us all.
But I would also like to highly recommend Chapel Lodge as all the staff are very welcoming, friendly and professional. We would like to thank the nurses, carers, domestics and kitchen staff. Meals are home-cooked, nutritious meals.
Mum is happy living here too and Mum would like to say thank you too.

My mum has been in Chapel Lodge Care Home for a few weeks now, the staff and home manager are brilliant. I have visited and phoned several times and any issues are sorted out very promptly. The care staff manager is exceptional, she talks through any concerns I have about Mum and is very patient and
understanding. Also, the handyman comes almost straight away to hang pictures and any other jobs that need doing in Mum's room. The home takes the residents out on trips every week, they have their own bus. I can't find any faults with the home at all.

My wife needs 24-hour nursing and care - so in an ideal world, I looked at many care homes that would tick all the boxes that she would need and to see if I could find a care home locally, not only for me but the rest of our family. I came across good reviews for Chapel Lodge Care Home and found that
the manager and all his staff are very thoughtful, caring and professional and that they treat the patients with dignity and respect which is what they need.
I would highly recommend Chapel Lodge because their care to all patients is outstanding and relatives who come to the home will have peace of mind knowing that the clerical and nursing staff are very helpful during these difficult times but treat all patients with respect and like to have a welcoming laugh now and again to cheer them up - so I'd like to say many thanks to you guys who do a fantastic job!

I would just like to thank all the family of staff who took care of my dad on end of life care until he sadly passed away peacefully in Chapel Lodge Care Home on the 10th of March, he was treated with kindness, respect and dignity during his stay there, the clerical staff and nursing staff were also
kind and helpful to me and my family during a difficult time, with a welcomed laugh at a much needed time now and again! Thanks to all the staff who do a fantastic job!

Today I visited a friend in Chapel Lodge who is receiving end of life care. I was naturally feeling apprehensive and emotional. I was warmly greeted by a lady in charge and asked to take a Covid test. Once the test was negative, we put on P.P.E and masks and were led to our friend's room. The nurse
spoke warmly to residents on the way. Everything looked spotless and there was a restful and comforting atmosphere. Patients were treated with respect and dignity. The meal looked delicious and well presented. Our friend is being so well cared for. Thank you

Dad was discharged to Chapel Lodge under the hospital fast-track continuing care scheme. We chose this provider because Dad was an above the knee amputee needing physical care, which could be provided, and because the home was able to cater for unlimited visits from family members during end of life
care. Staff were totally professional and entirely helpful during his three-week stay.

A year ago even the most imaginative of us would have had difficulty forecasting the effects of Covid, especially on the residents and staff of care centres. My husband, who has a diagnosis of Alzheimer's and dementia has been cared for and supported in the most sensitive, practical and warmly-encouraged
manner by the staff of Chapel Lodge.
I have felt valued and have been pleased to visit safely. I am also impressed by the help provided by the activities organiser, such as letter writing and poetry.

Fabulous staff, always helpful and empathetic. Family comments are taken on board and management are always proactive in managing my mum's wellbeing in very difficult circumstances (C-19).
Excellent communications with family - open and transparent.
Caring and considerate following my mum's transfer,
especially as she was recently bereaved.

I'd like to say I'm so happy my husband, who has a lot of problems, is here. The manager and staff understand his needs and go out of their way to help both of us - a big thank you. My husband shouts a lot and gets very upset but the staff know how to calm him down and reassure him and that I really
am happy about.

After a spell in hospital Mum went to Chapel Lodge for respite/assessment. After an initial couple of bad days, she seemed to settled and now after 3 weeks, she's back home. We can't thank all the staff there enough. She was treated with dignity and respect by everyone which helped for such a speedy
recovery. This short stay has completely changed Mum's perception of care homes and has eased her fears for any future care needs she may have. Thanks again from both of us.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.921)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.921) out of 10 for Chapel Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.674 for Chapel Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 89 Ratings = 4.674

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.247 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chapel Lodge is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.547

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
