I cannot thank everyone enough for the marvellous care that Mum received and she absolutely blossomed there! She loved the food, started to put much needed weight on, tried things she had never tried before and actually liked some of them! Her skin looked better than it had done in years, her hair was
styled every Friday and she always looked smart. She enjoyed taking part in the activities and was very proud that some of her artwork was displayed on the walls. Mum was a very anxious person and because of the higher staff to resident ratio, was able to be given that extra reassurance and attention that made all the difference to her wellbeing. The staff were very knowledgeable, kind, attentive, warm and friendly and any issues were immediately addressed and dealt with. Her needs were continually assessed and discussed. Equipment was purchased and routines implemented to make her as comfortable as possible, whilst enabling her to continue to take part in activities. She was very happy.

My aunt, aged 102 and fiercely independent, was in need of care and some TLC after spending a month in hospital. She moved into The Glen and it was clear from the outset that we could be confident she was being wonderfully looked after. As her family all live in the South of England it was hugely reassuring
for us to know this. First and foremost is the kindness and warmth of all the staff. They are absolute gems, always taking time to have a chat, and offering tea, coffee and drinks constantly throughout the day. As The Glen is so small there is a feeling of homeliness which is lovely. Mealtimes are convivial, and my aunt downs a tumbler full of sherry every lunchtime! Her 103rd birthday was celebrated in style with balloons, a beautiful cake, and all of her family around.
It is an enormous responsibility to find a care home where you can be sure that someone you love will be cared for with dignity and affection, and I can only say that for us, The Glen has been the perfect choice.

The Director and her team have transformed The Glen since taking it over - my grandmother was there previously. My father was very happy for the year or so he spent at The Glen and he was very much cared for as his condition worsened and he was increasingly immobile. She never hesitated to make suggestions
that would possibly improve his comfort and care and would be straightforward in discussing ideas that would not work, she was invariably correct. The team at The Glen were always respectful to my father but moreover, he was very fond of them and they were never less than warm and caring. I live outside the UK and the team would keep me updated and pass my messages to my father when I was unable to reach him. My father was very glad that he had decided to have been there. I am very grateful for their help and support.

The Glen is a home away from home for my mother in law. She became a resident after a long hospital stay which had left her having lost a lot of weight, at risk of pressure sores, with limited mobility and distressed.
A year on, she is a different woman. Thanks to the staff's patience - and eating
the appetising food she has regained some weight (not easy in your 80s) and her skin is good. She is happy and settled.
To have her tell us "How kind everyone is", and that "It's like being with family" is more than we could have ever hoped for.
The care is excellent at all levels and the residents always treated with respect.
Choosing a care home for a loved one is a huge responsibility, if you find yourself in this position, I would thoroughly recommend you take a look at The Glen.
I'm very glad I did.
