In house 5 as always we have found the staff and management caring, attentive, and genuinely invested in maintaining the health and well-being of our Aunt. The safety levels seem a little bit low but the staff that care there always seem to give 110% to make up for this. The rooms are clean and well-maintained
but a little tired and dated. My Aunt is bedridden with dementia so she no longer uses many of the activities but when she did she found them excellent. The food and drink are tailored for her needs which is lovely. Once again a big thank you to the staff and management.

Avoid avoid avoid. My dad was in Haythorne Place from September - December 22. He was firstly in house 2 where he escaped from. I am still waiting for answers 6 months on as to how, then he was verbally abused by one of the carers but no one informed me until a few weeks after this happened, and up
to this date I am still waiting for answers to find out what fully happened and if the worker is still there or they have sacked him. Every time I went to visit dad they didn’t like it because they stated I had to make an appointment, don’t understand why, think they wanted to be prepared as when I did just turn up unannounced he was always in a bed full of urine. They hardly ever changed his clothes and he was in ladies' clothes and not his own. Never any staff to care for the residents. Once I turned up to find someone who wasn’t even a carer looking after them as they were short-staffed. Worst care home I have ever seen. Don’t put your loved ones in here. So glad I got dad elsewhere.

My daughter being in this home has given her family peace of mind that she has twenty four hour care because before when she was in her own flat we couldn't get carers we could trust and rely on to look after her. She was left on her own all night, that wasn't good. Would like to thank you all at this
nursing home for looking after her so well. We feel that you think a lot of her.

Placing my father into care was not an easy decision but the care, compassion and understanding of the staff was so positive in a very negative situation. The management and staff are always very approachable and answered all questions, very professional whilst kind and caring to my dad and his family.
The home always looks clean and smells fresh.

Staff very welcoming. Very patient and looked after my mother well.
On the downside, room was dirty when we arrived but on pointing it out it was rectified immediately, handyman very helpful. Staff very professional and easy to talk to. My mother did "escape" one evening, but since then the gate has
been locked so it shouldn't happen again. Overall, a good experience thanks! Very grateful for all their help.

I write a very positive review of the care of my cousin gets from the staff at Haythorne Place. I have nothing but thanks for the way they look after her and always have. G has not had a chest infection (or any other infection) for the last few years - all down to the care given. The staff are welcoming
and go above and beyond. Particularly hard during the Covid pandemic, and all deserve praise for their hard work.

My Dad has been living in Haythorne Place for years. I am very happy with the service my dad receives. My dad says he is very happy living at Haythorne Place, he gets on with other residents and staff and that makes me feel happy. Dad likes most of the meals that are served, he goes to bed when he wants
and also gets up when he wants. Dad is allowed to smoke and have a few cans of beer when he wants to.

My husband's nan was in House 2. They never had any staff, her clothes always missing, her room had wallpaper peeling off, her toiletries missing, and I visited twice and allowed in with no covid test taken. No one ever had the time to speak to you about any concerns, we would definitely not recommend.

Reply from Sharon Flood, Regional Operations Manager at Haythorne Place

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had concerns regarding issues on House 2. This is not Roseberry protocol around allowing visitors without evidence of Covid testing. As for missing items I am happy to reimburse if you have receipts for these.

My aunt was a resident of House Two for three years and House Three for two years.
I was always pleased with the staff who cares for her, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic and thank all of them who I met over the last five years.

Due to the Covid restrictions, I understand it is hard to have group activities however there are plenty of one to one activities taking place. The care my mum receives is good she always looks clean and well looked after and the staff keep me informed of my mother's needs.

I visit Haythorne place about 5 days a week, different clients, different needs. My clients are very well looked after by the staff. Very polite, very welcoming, showing empathy towards their residents and also towards visiting members. I have built a relationship up with my clients and staff, they
know what progress or changes I need to hear with regard to the well being of my clients. We all have a duty of care towards our clients and this is shown in the staff. The staff are exceptional. Excellent office staff.

My Grandma moved into Haythorne Place (house 3) at the end of November 2019. She was sadly only there for five weeks but during this time I met a number of the Haythorne team and got to see what a wonderful job they do day in day out with residents. The team always made time for us, talking through
any concerns or questions we had and generally making it, through an emotional family time, a nice place to visit.
Haythorne Place was the last of the nursing homes we visited when we were choosing the right one for Grandma and we knew straight away that this was the right place as it seemed homely, well-staffed and most importantly that residents would be well cared for well. We would definitely recommend this nursing home and thank the team for their care whilst she was with them.

The home was very friendly and met my mum's care needs. The staff were very caring too. Although Mum was only there for three weeks, within a day she told me she felt at home. Would recommend.

Current Review Score: 6.0 (5.951)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.0 (5.951) out of 10 for Haythorne Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 2.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.0 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 2.909 for Haythorne Place is calculated as follows: ( (6 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (3 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 22 Ratings = 2.909

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.042 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Haythorne Place is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 24 = 0.042

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
