Knowles Court, located in the peaceful residential suburb of Holmewood in Bradford, is a friendly, 146 bed care home that offers residential, residential dementia and nursing care.

Headley House has undergone a major refurbishment and is now welcoming people living with dementia who need residential care. From Tuesday 29th August 2023 the home will also be welcoming people living with dementia who have nursing needs.

Knowles Court is split into smaller households so there is plenty of space for Residents to pursue their hobbies and interests. Dining is an important part of the day and residents are encouraged to relax and take their time over the lovely, home-cooked meals prepared by the onsite Chef, while enjoying the company of others.

The pretty landscaped sensory garden and patio is the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family, and is happily looked after by some of the home's Residents. The bright, comfortable bedrooms and living areas are all easily accessible by wheelchair.

I am delighted that I chose Knowles Court for my mother. My initial request was met with an open invitation to visit followed by a warm welcome and tour, accompanied for part of the time by one of the residents. It was immediately apparent that the residents were receiving high-quality care from a professional
and dedicated team of experienced and younger staff, but all clearly working within a guiding ethos of care, support and encouragement. Knowles Court has a very homely feel, and one in which my mother settled quickly, and in which she seems so content, something which has obviously been important for her, but also reassuring to me, especially as her illness and infirmity have both progressed. She has even put on weight. Despite her health limitations she is nevertheless encouraged to take part in activities as much as she is able to. Knowles Court (Headley House) has an exceptional team of staff who have given wonderful, dignified and safe care to my mother, as well as many individual examples of kindness, and often bringing back her smile and laughter which have been so much a part of my life.

I do visit my mother-in-law weekly, always enjoy the visit due to the lovely welcome and lovely staff. She is so happy, really well cared for and I'm satisfied we made the right decision for her.
The home is great.

My mother has been at Knowles Court for a little over a years and we can't praise the staff enough. The unit has been a great help, settling my mum into her new "home".

I visited to see an old family friend who had not been well. She suffers from dementia and is very frail. The care I saw given and the activities that were taking place was a surprise to me. The carers and staff were fantastic. The home was clean and well kept, including the lovely gardens. Well done
in an era where nursing the old has had poor reviews over the years.

The staff at Knowles Court Care Home are remarkably good-humoured and patient with the residents no matter what happens. I also found that they were extremely good at keeping in touch with me about my mum. She had lost a lot of weight in the hospital but with the patient help of the staff at Knowles
Court Care Home, she has put it back on again.

The nursing unit's strength lies in the good nursing management and their communication and has built up a good relationship with them. All the staff are excellent and they have got to know my friend really well. The unit is well lead who always takes the tie to explain things and the staff work well
for her.

My mother has been a resident for five months now, she is being cared for extremely well. On admission to the unit she was underweight, had a poor appetite and was low in her mood. She has gained weight, is always smiling we visit and is talkative. As a family, we have no worries at all. We like the
fact she is encouraged to join in the activities. The staff, without exception, are friendly and we see them talking to all the residents.

I found this nursing care home to very understaffed, having to wait an hour for the bathroom. No activities to stimulate residents, never take residents out or sit them outside. Don’t give them enough to drink.

When the time came for my mum to move into a care home, obviously it was a very difficult decision, but the fabulous staff at Knowles Court made the whole process so much easier. She was greeted like family from the very first day and after 2 years there that's still how it feels like mum is part of
a family there. Mum is very happy at Knowles Court and I'm happy knowing that she is so well looked after. The carers are amazing and work so hard. They have taken the time to get to know mum and built a lovely relationship with her. Similarly, the carers have taken the time to get to know me and whenever I visit, I always receive the same welcome, a friendly hello, a chat and a cuppa. Knowles court honestly doesn't feel like a 'care home', it feels like a 'family home'.

My mum lived at Headley House, Knowles Court for seven years but sadly passed away in December. In the time she lived there, she was not only looked after, she was loved. The staff made it a home, not just a care home.
In the time Mum was there her dementia made it hard for us but the staff were understanding
and caring and the days leading up to her passing the staff could not have done more to ease her pain and make her comfy and help us through a bad time.
I could not have wanted anywhere better for my mum to spend the last seven years of her life.

My father has been well fed and cared for since the moment he arrived. The nurses are vigilant about his needs and act promptly when necessary. The atmosphere is informal and friendly and staff are always amenable. My father could not be in a better place.

It is a real concern when you have to commit to care, a much-loved parent, so it was with trepidation that I placed my 86 year old mum with Fairfax House in Knowles Court.
But there was no need for any concern at all, for I doubt there is a better standard of care delivered throughout the whole of
the United Kingdom. The staff are exemplary in their care, concern and empathy, all have long term tenure and show a genuine concern for maintaining the long term health and happiness of their charges. I cannot praise the care team enough who look after my mum.


I doubt there are many facilities where the unit manager bakes cakes, treats clients long into the night in their limited free time and bring fresh produce from their own garden as treats. Such kindness demonstrates a level of care above the expected baseline indeed.


Thank you for looking after my mum so very well and making her feel so very welcome and safe, words cannot thank you enough.

David is the Registered Manager at Knowles Court Care Home with several years of care experience. His main interest and experience are in managing successful care homes housing elderly and frail Residents. David is very experienced in the management of care homes and is committed to providing a high–quality service.


He is ultimately responsible for the effective and professional running of the care home but will allocate time to discuss any aspect of our Resident's care or any problems they may be experiencing. David is keen to work closely and in partnership with our Residents, their relatives and significant others to benefit the Residents in her care. He is a dynamic team leader and has an ongoing interest in professional development and career progression.
