The report continues to highlight the positive attention to care through personalised and holistic care-plans to meet each resident's needs and wishes. This quintessential delivery of care remains a strong point, as was highlighted in the report, and embodies Norwood House's aims of 'understanding care and practicing compassion'.

I can't even put into words how wonderful Norwood House is. When you walk in it's like you are home. The warmth of the staff seeing how happy and content the residents are warms your heart.
I was worried sick when it was decided dad had to go into a nursing home but once I visited it became an absolute
pleasure to visit.

The staff at Norwood House were one in a million when caring for Nan and with her end of life care. They looked after Nan with care and dignity throughout her stay.

My husband went to Norwood House in April straight from hospital. He had dementia and was not eating when he was in hospital but from arriving there he started eating; they couldn't fill him up.
The staff were all very good and caring and he was well looked after and he was settled there.

I have a little 'insider knowledge' of the Care Home system (work and personal) - I can honestly say the level of care my Mum received, in the four months during which Norwood House was in every sense her home, was OUTSTANDING. I was particularly impressed at the NUMBER of staff the owners have on-duty
at any one time - the staff are able to interact with residents. The ATTITUDE of staff is exemplary - I never heard anything other than patient good humour and every time I visited, every single member of staff I spoke to knew my Mum. The staff's CARING was not only exemplified in day-to-day interaction but in their proactive solution-seeking behaviour - for example, when they thought my Mum seemed to be a little 'low', they had a staff meeting during which they discussed things which might help and then shared their thoughts with me. Norwood House describes itself as a "Home from Home" - in my opinion, this is not just a slogan - this is something the owners and the whole staff fully embrace!

The family of a late resident would like to sincerely thank all the caring, compassionate and dedicated staff at Norwood House, Keighley, for taking excellent care of him. Thank you so much for supporting us as a family at such a difficult time during his illness. A truly, family orientated home, the
residents are lucky to have you caring for them. Keep the fantastic work going, guys.

My friend looks clean, neat and tidy. She is awake, animated and chatty where previously she slept more of the time. My friend had put on weight through missing meals and snacking but now look slimmer, healthy and her mobility is much improved. The staff are kind and helpful and available. Its lovely
to see her hair and nails have been recently done and her clothes smell fresh and clean.

We could not have chosen a more suitable place for my husband to spend his last few weeks of life. We have every faith in the care he was given at Norwood House and cannot praise and thank them enough.

All the family are very happy with the service. The facilities are very good but the main reason why we are happy is that the staff are excellent and very caring.

My father has been in care now for 11 months. Throughout that time, the staff have been very supportive of all his needs. The nursing staff are always available to discuss my father's ongoing needs and the care staff are always friendly and offer great support to my dad. The owners always take the time
to speak to me when I visit. The home is always clean and my dad's room fully meets his needs and circumstances. The food is of a good quality and the menus are varied. The activities coordinator works tirelessly to fulfil her role and support the residents.

Dad has been resident at Norwood since April 2017. I recently visited on the day of the Xmas fayre. The home had gone to great efforts to provide food and refreshments along with decorations and music.
All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, they look after dad with care and dignity. Rooms are
good and in dads case, items have had to be removed for safety. The home is making great strides in organising activities, which in dads case will have some benefit.

My mother has been a resident here for four years. Unfortunately, she passed away in October of this year.

I couldn't have wished for a nicer, friendlier, caring home for my mum. The staff were wonderful, helpful and very kind and understanding.

My mum's care was always 1st class, and my family

and I could not recommend it highly enough. Ten out of ten.

This was the perfect place for my father's last days. He was a difficult patient, but the staff were never flustered, never lost their cool, dealt with everything very professionally and with a smile on their faces! My dad was always well presented and clean shaven but he had lost his sense of fashion
a bit! (joking). He was well clothed and well looked after! The memorial service on the 6th of December was especially nice, calm and again the staff were superb. A lovely send off from a superb group of people. Well done and many thanks to all.

We have been very happy with the level of care that my dad has received since he went into Norwood in June 2017. I see the same care worker on a regular basis and all staff know my dad by name. There seems to be a regular calendar of events happening, October and November were busy with Halloween and
Bonfire Night and December is particularly busy.
I see the owners regularly and they are always asking if anything needs doing to improve the care. My dad has regular chiropody and haircuts.
My mum has been invited for Christmas dinner which is nice.

When my partner did pass away the support and help received from staff an management was so wonderful I couldn't explain. I'm so grateful. They were very helpful and polite when my partner was in their care. They are the best home I could recommend. Please give Norwood House my praise for all the hard

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.622)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.622) out of 10 for Norwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.722 for Norwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.722

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norwood House Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
