Colton Lodges Care Home, situated in the historic town of Colton, near Leeds, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential, nursing and dementia care.

Colton Lodges offers a comfortable home for all residents. There are many areas for residents to relax and unwind as well as engage in hobbies and interests. The onsite café and conservatory provides residents with areas to socialise with one another and their relatives.

The entire staff at Colton Lodges are courteous, kind, efficient, hardworking and everyone is friendly and helpful and make it a pleasure to visit.

My husband was in Colton Lodge and he was really well looked after and the staff were 100% caring and kind. The food was a high standard and the room was just like being at home, so nice and comfortable and it just looked like a hotel. They were always ready to answer any questions I had to ask.

Facilities are very good, the staff are great with my mother and that will be challenging at times I'm sure!
The meals are very good with lots of variety. I would recommend Colton Lodges to anyone looking for a care home.

The staff are very caring, kind and helpful and the atmosphere in the care home is warm and welcoming. I have observed staff with residents and they are really friendly and kind towards those in their care. I would recommend the care home to others. Thanks to all the staff who are doing a wonderful

Since the home has been taken over from another owner, it is dirty and needs a re-vamp.
I'm not even sure how often my mum gets bathed as she always looks dirty with greasy hair.
Clothes are washed to death and creased which makes the resident look even worse.
They are put in the wardrobes and drawers
without any care and attention.
We also now have to label our own clothes!
Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough staff to the ratio of residents, and depending on what time you go, residents are left on their own in the lounge, not safe when they suffer from dementia.
The home always smells of urine, which makes me wonder how often incontinent residents are changed?
Can I, however, say that I am not blaming the carers who work there as they do a great job with the limited resources they have and little wage.

Overall I am satisfied that my wife is in a safe place and properly cared for. The staff as a general rule really do care and are excellent.
The only downside is that I believe that the fabric of the building, whilst kept clean and homely, is ready for refurbishment.

Mum receives very good care. Some of the carers go the extra mile to help; this is very commendable when on occasion the unit is obviously short staffed.
The activities coordinator is very good and there is a good weekly timetable of activities. Appointments with a professional e.g dentist/continence
nurse are not always passed on and mum misses that appointment. Overall, however, Colton Lodges is a very good care home.

My mother has been in Colton since January/February 2018 and my father since January/February 2019. They have both always received an excellent standard of care. All the staff are a credit to the care profession. They treat the residents like members of the family and are always willing to put themselves
out and go the extra mile. They are not just doing their hours and filling in time. They truly care about the service they give.

My father has been at Colton Lodges Care Home for a couple of years. He recently passed away at the care home. He suffered from Alzheimer's dementia. During his time in the home, his care has been very good both personal and medical. He was always clean and tidy, he would eat good portions. The staff
were friendly and understood my dad's needs. He was treated with dignity and in his last days was made very comfortable.

My Dad came to live at Colton in August this year. The facilities that he has needed to access have been excellent. The staff go above and beyond not only for my Dad but all my family. I can not thank the staff enough. They are committed to the needs of all the residents, and they know them so well.

I received good care when I was unwell during the night. There is a shortage of staff and they are underpaid.

The nursing staff work very hard, often short staffed e.g. carers. The cleaner staff work very hard. The laundry staff also work hard and are very helpful girls. The admin ladies are so very helpful ladies, will always help me out when I have needed it. In fact form the gardener, maintenance man. They
are a good crowd. Whitkirk House is well run. The nursing manager is very good. She has her eye on everything. In fact, all the nurses, they all do their job 100%. Well done to everyone, they all have a hard job to do.

In the four weeks, my husband has been here, he has settled very well. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff who care for him. All areas are clean and comfortable for residents and relatives are treated very well whatever time of day. My husband knows he is very fortunate to be cared for in
such a good home. I am so grateful we got a place in this home.

After looking at numerous care homes Colton Lodges took in my brother and it was the happiest he had been in such a long time. The care that was provided to him was wonderful, they were kind and caring all the time.
He also liked them and as a family, we were totally thrilled. I would recommend Colton

I can give full marks to staff who work very hard even though there aren't enough of them. The care staff are wonderful but it's very hard when some residents need two people to help them. The rooms could do with updating and hearing residents and families. The food isn't so good. They don't need big
pieces of chicken or a chop on a plate all it takes is to cut them into a couple of pieces so they can manage to eat it. Rooms are clean and the staff do their best to keep people happy.

Danielle

Danielle Longthorn

Job Title: Home Manager

“For me, kind care is treating everyone with respect and dignity, while offering choice and promoting independence.”


As a Registered Nurse, Danielle has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Danielle chose to become Home Manager at Colton Lodges as she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Danielle remarked:


“Making a difference to people’s lives, it’s a pleasure to see our Resident’s living happy and fulfilled lives.”


Outside of work, Danielle is a devoted wife and mother to two boys who enjoys travelling to America, she hopes to visit all 52 states in her lifetime. In her spare time, she is a big supporter of football, rugby, American football and ice hockey.
