Mum spent her last 5 weeks of life in Moorleigh. From the very outset, we were impressed with the care she received. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. No questions were left unanswered. We were called in a timely manner at the end and were allowed to remain with Mum for as long as
we wanted. Throughout her stay, we were able to come and go as we pleased and always received a warm welcome from whichever member of staff opened the door.

I would not recommend anyone visit Moorleigh Nursing Home using a motorcycle, I had my scooter stolen from their car park, even though it was chained up. This was last month June and I'm waiting for someone to contact me regarding CCTV.

Reply from Denise Richardson, Administrator at Moorleigh Nursing Home

We are really sorry for your experience, this unfortunate situation was beyond our control. The perpetrators of this crime came prepared with a cutter for the chain. On the day your motorcycle was stolen, we did experience a power outage on the CCTV but have since managed to recover the footage. On a recent telephone conversation, you were offered to review the CCTV footage, however, you declined the offer and said you would contact us if it was needed in the future.

Our mum was in Moorleigh Nursing Home for a short time recently before passing away. From our first contact, we felt reassured that this was the right place for Mum. Initially, this home was not on our list due to the distance to travel - almost 9 miles, but after our visit my sister and myself did
not want our mum to go anywhere else even though a closer home could have accommodated her. We were kept fully informed throughout and all the staff we met were very caring and understanding. Moorleigh is homely and cosy. If you’re looking for a nursing home, please visit.

Mum has been a resident in Moorleigh Nursing Home for the last eighteen months, in this time she has received the most special care and consideration at all times. We as a family have also received wonderful care. We cannot praise them highly enough and would fully recommend.

My mum has been a resident in Moorleigh Nursing Home since July this year. She previously spent six months in hospital settings.
The improvement in mum is remarkable. From not getting out of bed since February, she is now asking to get up, get dressed and spends all her days in the communal lounge,
something we, as a family, thought we would never see.
The care she receives from every member of staff is exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
Any requests we have are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
We are happy to say that Mum is very well cared for, comfortable and content.
We would highly recommend Moorleigh.
Thank you to every one of the staff.

We do not recommend this nursing home.
When our father went in we told them he liked to be shaved every day and have two or three showers a week. Several times we went in at lunchtime and he had not been washed or shaved. Judging by how often we had to buy shower gel it was obvious he was not getting
the number of showers he wanted.
The nurses and carers do the best they can under very difficult circumstances. The home is always understaffed. We suggested to the Manager that she employs some agency staff but she said they are too expensive.
When our father was quite fit he spent a lot of time in bed.
A few months ago our father had to go into hospital with a water infection. We discussed with the doctors moving him to a better nursing home but the doctors said he was too ill to be moved.
A few weeks ago he began having trouble swallowing his food and they just took it away. We contacted his GP who put him on a special diet.
This home is run as a cash cow for the owners.

What an amazing home. My mum recently passed away but was treated with dignity and respect from all the staff, from the nurses, carers, cleaners and kitchen staff. They are all amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and my dad was always greeted with love and respect on his visits to Mum. If you're looking
for a care home for a loved one, look no further than Moorleigh.

As I live in Australia, and now with Covid stopping any plans I have to visit my father, it is so refreshing to talk to such caring and helpful staff.
In a situation where my sister did not even inform the staff that I was next of kin.
The staff have never questioned that I am, they always go out
of their way to keep me informed about my dad's health and always take the phone to him when I call.
A couple of months ago they even organised a FaceTime call with my dad. It was lovely to see him looking so well and it was great to be able to see his face.
I cannot say enough about these great people and I want to thank each and every one of them for showing so much love and care to a man that can be set in his ways and difficult at times.
You are all angels and when I can get back to England, one of the first places I will come is to personally thank you all for looking after my dad.

This care home is outstanding and the lady in question who has been there 2 months now has the utmost care, I always find the staff friendly and helpful and although the decor is a little tired the staff are outstanding.
The lady is bedridden but is always clean and cared for and the managers are always
helpful when I have any questions.

From first meeting the manager who was obviously very dedicated, I had no hesitation in placing my mother in Moorleigh Nursing Home. After showing me around and explaining how many of the staff had been employed by the home for many years it convinced me that my Mother would be well looked after.

This

proved to be correct because from day one my Mother received first class care and all the carers went out of their way to make sure she was happy. Moorleigh has a very warm and welcoming feeling as well as Nursing staff who make sure all medications are given at the correct times, which as a Son was very important to me. It's a great shame that I have to move my mother to another home, which is purely down to logistics for our family.

Thanks again.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.341)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.341) out of 10 for Moorleigh Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.674 for Moorleigh Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 43 Ratings = 4.674

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.667 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorleigh Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.2 = 0.417

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
