Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I appreciate your frustration at the entry procedure but it is necessary to continue the Covid checks and these are quite time consuming if done properly.

She had dementia and so went through a number of difficulties with her memory, speech, behaviour and later her mobility and swallowing.
Finally, she passed away at the nursing home in November 2018.
The care and patience
The staff are genuinely caring and liaise well with the families and local GPs.
This includes the manager, nurses, carers, activities coordinator, kitchen and many more.
They know each person personally and it feels like a family.
Thank you so much for everything you did for her over the years.

I would like to say right from the management - nursing - care - cleaning teams I have always found them to be very pleasant and helpful at all times. Nothing is too much trouble for them and always asked how I was too. The manager's door was always open if I needed a chat.
From the bottom of my heart, I can not thank them enough for how my dad was cared for in his latter years.

I believe that overall the staff showed caring and cheerful care to it's residents and visitors alike, this can only be achieved by good leadership. We live sixty mile from the care home but were kept informed by the staff on the EMI unit if they detected any change or cause for concern in my aunties health.
The only area I can see room for improvement is the EMI lounge area which is small and not particularly well laid out.

Throughout Mum's stay she has been treated with the utmost of respect, care.
Despite working so hard in the care of the elderly residents, staff smile and remain patient. Park Avenue are clearly recruiting the right people for the work. Mum often tells us how nice her carers are to her. They demonstrate true understanding of Mum's personality and take the time to chat to her - a vital element in Mum's well-being. The family feel confident that Mum is in the best possible place at this time in her life. We are all pleased we chose Park Avenue for Mum.

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.835) out of 10 for Park Avenue Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.754 for Park Avenue Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.754
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.081 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park Avenue Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.581
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Music Therapy Facilitator
Joined: 2024
Throughout my life, making music with other people has made me feel more connected. My work here is primarily about facilitating opportunities for the residents to experience relationships through making music together. I am continuously inspired by the residents’ will to make music, and their immense creativity.
Before beginning my training as a music therapist, I spent a lot of time doing music with people - in all kinds of settings. I have worked with people aged 2 and people aged 92! I have worked as a guitar teacher in schools, and as a lecturer in universities. I have run music workshops for men recovering from addiction, for toddlers and their mums. I once wrote a song with a group of teenagers, and then watched it be performed by hundreds of other kids on stage. It was this variety of work that lead to me starting my training as a music therapist in 2023. My course ?nishes in the summer of 2025. Everyone can make music!
I also spent a lot of time writing and promoting my work as a songwriter and artist. I have released 7 albums of my own material, played in bands, and toured around the UK and Europe.
