Good reception from manager when we came to look around. Very good assessment at home. Respite placement.
Mum made to feel at home, good attention to personal appearance including hair and teeth. Friendly staff.
More activities would have been good.
Rooms look a bit tired, but appreciate this was
just a short term stay.

Staff gave 110 per cent all the time and was so friendly and felt like you were with friends, not in a home you could ask them anything.

Mum has been a resident at Carr Gate for almost three months now and is settling well.
Whenever I visit I form the impression that Carr Gate is a well run, well-maintained home that does it's best to meet the needs of the residents.
Staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient.

My mum was in the nursing section of the care home. The rooms and facilities were excellent, very good standard (like a home) and very clean. My mum didn't leave her room due to her illness, therefore sometimes, she was forgotten about with food and drink and sometimes it was cold when it reached her.
The service my mum received sometimes depended on which staff were working that day, although everyone was polite and caring with my mum only certain staff bathed, washed her and checked up on her. I marked this as excellent due to 4 specific staff members and how amazing they were. I really felt that they genuinely cared so much about my mum and it made me feel at ease when I wasn't there and they were working that day. Also, the other reason I scored as excellent was the care and patience the staff showed towards my dad while he was spending every day with my mum - it was brilliant.

My concern is the state of the building, the central heating is unreliable, there isn't any heating in the bathroom. Some of the rooms are quite small.


The window frames need attention, some don't open.


On a positive note, nobody ever says 'no you can't do that'. All staff are very caring. Well

done!

My mother is in Carr Gate nursing home. They recently got in a brand new management team. I am more than impressed with the massive difference that this new team has had on the overall quality of the home. The care is outstanding, compassionate and individualised. Staffing is consistent and attends
to each individual resident’s needs. I am informed on a very regular basis about mum’s well-being. I have peace of mind knowing that my mother is getting the best quality care. The home itself is cosy, clean and very welcoming. Thank you to all the nurses, carers, staff and management at Carr Gate!

I found the home warm and welcoming. Management greeted me on arrival and offered refreshments. I looked around the home and found it to be well presented, clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and smiling, rooms were nicely set up and big and roomy.


I would recommend this home to anyone.

I visit my friend every Thursday afternoon. The home is warm in welcome, the staff are very friendly and always happy to chat.
They also include me, at tea time, with a nice bun or piece of cake and a cup of tea. I must say the food and baking is wonderful.
The new managers are happy and helpful.
I think this home has improved by leaps and bounds.
It is a lovely place.

Recently visited the home and my first impressions are good, the home is clean, tidy and pleasant. Management was friendly, approachable and were happy to speak to me. On arrival, I was offered refreshments and fresh cakes baked that day. Music playing on the units and residents seen laughing and smiling
with staff. Nothing is ever too much for the care staff, they are friendly and helpful, although they have a lot to do. Lovely home and nice people.

Generally, the service provided was very good. The staff, in particular, were for the most part excellent. There were problems now and then as there was not enough staff to do what was expected of them.

I am pleased to know that the service provided for your relative was very good and that the staff, in particular, were for the most part excellent however you felt that there were not enough staff to do what was expected of them. I am happy to inform you that our staffing levels are reviewed every month or when needed, depending on the needs of our Residents. Where it is felt that an extra member of staff is needed, the home will always provide necessary cover.

Carr Gate Care Home is conveniently placed for M1 users and for Wakefield residents. My care is satisfactory, staff are good, friendly and approachable. TV in the sitting room is too loud but you can usually get it reduced. Food is only fairly satisfactory.

Thank you also for raising your concern with me regarding the food and the fact that the TV in the living room is sometimes too loud for you. I'm sure you will be pleased to know that this has been shared with staff and they will be making sure that the TV is set at a reasonable sound level for everyone in the room. I have also shared your concern with the chef who has taken this on board and will try and improve the food and seek feedback from residents. The chef has also been instructed to discuss this further with you and diet notification can be reviewed.
