Croft House Care Home is part of the Countrywide Care Homes Group - one of the UK's leading care home providers.

The home is located in Ossett and specialises in the provision of nursing, residential dementia and nursing dementia care for 66 residents.

The 4 units at the home have been fully refurbished in April 2021 and Croft House has a number of communal areas including spacious lounge and dining areas, quiet lounges, sensory room, garden room, hairdressing salon and beautiful gardens.

The majority of bedrooms have en-suite facilities. There are bath and shower facilities available on each floor.

Croft House Care Home has a dedicated activities coordinator who provides a varied programme of activities. Outings are also arranged on a monthly basis to local places of interests including the garden centre, White Rose shopping centre and parks.

Mum was in the home for two and a half years as she had vascular dementia. The staff were always good and treated my mum like their own. She died peacefully in her sleep and the care the team gave her was wonderful. All the staff are amazing from the top to catering and cleaning staff well done to you
all. Thank you for all you did.

My husband has been in Croft House for 6 weeks in that time the treatment and kindness from all the staff were wonderful. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The nursing, activities, food, and general carers were all excellent.

Dad was in respite and the manager couldn't do enough for us. Any issues were dealt with at once. Staff were good to Dad and he felt at home. Dietary needs were met and no issues.

My lovely mum was cared for in the dementia unit for 6 months until she passed on 25th September 2023. While there her care was brilliant as she was also suffering from cancer. The staff were very caring, approachable and compassionate. The last three days of her life I stayed with my mum at the home,
the staff were lovely towards me and mum and very supportive.
I would like to thank them for helping me and my family through a very sad time.

My mother is well looked after. She is clean and dressed in fresh clothes every day. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The activities Mum has been involved with have been stimulating and fun. All areas are clean, and her room is bright with a view of the garden.

The place is clean, friendly, food is excellent. Only down - more staff needed, so they can spend individual time with the residents, talking with them. The staff available are all wonderful but busy doing their required jobs. Another member of staff would be fantastic to talk to the residents.

My husband only spent 3 weeks in Croft House but I can not praise them highly enough. Every single person we came into contact with could not have been more kind. My husband had Parkinson's and severe Dementia and was very poorly. The kindness shown to myself and my family was outstanding.

If you want your loved one to be loved cared for and treated with respect, Croft House isn’t the place for them. Three years ago the home was lovely the manager (a lady) was brilliant. Unfortunately, she left and Croft House just went downhill.


I’ve noticed previous negative reviews have been removed??

We have experienced a very upsetting few months recently in relation to my mum’s basic care needs not being met. There appears to be insufficient staffing on the dementia unit which is leaving residents at risk. The quality of food is very poor as is the decor, the unit feels like it has been forgotten.
My mum is not treated with dignity or respect. Some of mum’s clothes have gone missing, I’m not quite sure what happens in the laundry as nothing ever looks clean or pressed with white items grey. My mum has always taken pride in her appearance so why do people in supposed caring roles think that it is ok to treat mum with little or no respect just because she has Alzheimer’s disease, my mum is still my mum and deserved to be treated with dignity.
I am in the process of searching for a new care home for mum as I do not feel she is safe or well cared for.

After an upsetting beginning in the dementia unit, my husband was transferred to the nursing unit. He has settled in well, and the setting suits him well. The care given to my husband has been very good, and the staff are all very friendly. All his needs are being met, and I have noticed an improvement
in his mood. I thank all the staff for their care and attention.

I did not put down anything for activities - my mother is bedbound but has a TV in her room which she likes. As for food and drink, my mother cannot take milk or cram, only milk in her cup of tea. Nice, clean room - my mother gets changed regularly and is clean and tidy.
Visiting times at the care
home are excellent. Myself, father, brother and his family all visit at regular times through the week and at the weekend.

I have found the whole experience of visiting my sister to be really good. The staff, from management to care staff, are excellent. They have helped my sister to settle in during a difficult time. They have helped arrange for her to be taken out on numerous occasions. The home provides everything she
needs and nothing seems to be a problem. All the staff are very friendly and approachable. Top marks to all concerned, we are happy she is well cared for.

Rob Ashton

Job Title: Care Home Manager

Hello and welcome to Croft House, my name is Rob, and I am the Home Manager, I took up this position in May 2022 after moving from down south to North Yorkshire (Scarborough) in November 2021.


I have worked all my adult life in health & social care starting at 20 years old as a healthcare assistant. I have worked in many varied roles during this time and gained my NVQ Level 4 Registered Managers Award in 2005. For the past 15 years, I have been a home manager working for a number of large care home providers.


Croft House is a lovely home with a super team of staff who really care about the people who live here. It has been a real joy working with people who have shown such enthusiasm to enhance the lives of those living with us and be able to provide the best care in the most dignified way. I believe it’s a team effort, and encourage all of the staff to share ideas to continually improve how we care for and support the people who live here, their loved ones and family.

Hello, I am Adam Deputy Manager at Croft House, I took up this position in June 2022, but have worked at the home since 2005 at the age of 18 as a Carer. I have progressed with the support of the company and before taking up the role of deputy manager I was a care practitioner. My knowledge and experience are working with people living with dementia, I get great satisfaction from seeing people thrive in our community and supporting them to live their best life possible.


I am enjoying the new challenges that being part of the management team brings and I am looking forward to making a positive contribution to the smooth running of the home.


Outside of my busy role, my hobbies are walking my dog, Henry, and spending time with my family.

Hello, I’m Cath the Business Administrator at Croft House.


After many years in the legal sector, I decided it was time for a change and joined Croft House last year. I enjoy working at Croft House and love that my role keeps me busy and that no two days are the same. The home is very welcoming which has helped me settle into my new role.


I enjoy getting to know all those who live with us as well as meeting all the different family members who visit their loved ones. I am always happy to help, and if there is a problem I will always do my best to find the best and most suitable resolution.


My personal hobbies include listening to Bruce Springsteen and anything ’80s related, walking my dog, Marlene and spending time with her grandchildren.

Job Title: Receptionist

Hello, my name is Julie and I’m the receptionist at Croft House, I’ve been working here since December 2021.


You will find me sitting at the main entrance to the home ready to greet you with a big smile and a warm welcome. I am usually the first person to answer any telephone calls coming into the home and, will do my very best to help you or point you in the right direction.


Part of my job role is to show people around the home, and this is something I really enjoy, so if you are looking for a care home for yourself or your loved one, I would be very happy to have a chat and show you around our lovely home.


We work as a good team together and are all very conscientious about our roles within the home.


I used to be a care assistant and loved my job, but unfortunately, I had to give it up due to a car accident, but it is lovely to be able to work within the care community again in a different role.


I have had a varied career path since I started work in 1975, from a Shoe Shop Assistant, Asda Wines & Spirits Supervisor, licensed Public House, and a catering assistant, as you can see, I’ve always enjoyed working with the public.


This is a lovely, rewarding job to be in and a happy home too.

Hello, my name is Siobhan and I am one half of our lifestyle team here at Croft House.


I came to Croft House as a carer back in 2017 and then moved into the domestic team in 2020 after showing I had a passion for the environment and attention to detail worked in the domestic team during the Covid pandemic.


In June 2021 a position of Lifestyle Coordinator came up at the home and realising how much I missed the interaction with the people who live with us so I applied for the position and was delighted when I got the job.


This has to be the best job in a care home. Every day there is laughter and fun at home and Terri and I enjoy putting together some great activities for the people who live with us and arranging trips out.

Job Title: Lifestyle Coordinator

Joined: 2017

Hello, I am Terri, the other half of the lifestyle team at Croft House. I came to the home in 2017 as a carer where I worked until September 2021 when the position of Lifestyle Coordinator came up. I had worked with Siobhan in care before she went to the domestic team so I knew we would make a good team and enhance the lifestyle offering we currently had at the home.

I love how much fun we have at the home with the people who live with us Siobhan and I spend time together planning activities but as our home is person-centred if the residents decide they don't want to do the activity, we have to quickly put our thinking caps on and come up with something else. There is never a dull day here and seeing the residents happy and enjoying themselves is the part I love the most.
