Carers are helpful, caring and go a good job. Any questions answered nothing is too much. The management I only met once but were very helpful. The rooms are good and clean, I only saw them when I picked my husband up after his respite care.

Overall very satisfied with the care my mum receives . She's now been in care for almost 12 months and seems to be doing OK. The care home is run really well and at this awful moment in time shows the dedication of the staff. Will be good to visit Mum again once it's safe to do so. I think she is finding
it very difficult having no visitors.

Hemsworth Park has friendly staff and residents and the staff listen to any issues you may have. The rooms are a good size, they also have good sized lounges you can sit in. They do a good variety of meals for residents, also they have good activities to keep residents busy. Over all it is a good care
home.

All the staff were all welcoming on entering. This included the maintenance staff, carers, cleaners and management. Nothing is too much trouble, even asking questions over and over again. All staff are genuinely caring, respectful and show empathy. All staff are always very professional. My grandma's
personal needs are met to a very high standard, offering her showers daily or offering a bed bath, changing clothes and bedding daily. The food is very nice and staff will go out of their way to find an alternative. Personal touches are offered in bedrooms to make the service users stay as nice as possible.

The staff, in general, are caring and hard working. The unit manager of Vale View is exceptional in her attitude and caring skills and knows all her residents personally and calls them by name she is a role model for the rest of her staff and it is clear that these staff all work as one team. This manager
has greatly helped our family by caring in a professional manner.

Mum stayed at Hemsworth Park for one week. She needed some rehabilitation after being in hospital.
During her stay, she was cared for with utmost respect, empathy and compassion. The staff were all welcoming, friendly, respectful and demonstrated excellent practice. The food was of a very high standard
and the home was very clean. Nothing was too much trouble and if outside services were needed, they were brought in quickly. I highly recommend Hemsworth Park.

My mother was admitted to Hemsworth Park into a winter pressure bed from hospital.
The staff were all very supportive and treated her with dignity and respect.
They made a difficult time more acceptable for her.
The meals could be improved on.

I have visited an old school friend who now lives at Hemsworth Park. The staff support my friend with the washing and dressing and the care part but I have also seen staff encouraging her to join in with the activities that were taking place, asking if she wanted to go out anywhere, trying to get her
to enjoy her life. The care staff cared there was lots of laughing and joking as well as all the serious things taking place too.

I have recently seen a huge improvement in all areas of the home, it is newly decorated throughout. New management and positive attitudes from staff. Residents are being involved in the decisions of the home and everyone is happy.

I made many complaints about the care my sister received she was unwashed room dirty items from her room missing, had several meetings and got nowhere even when showed care plan filled in two hours early saying she had been turned when no one had. I received a call from administrator to say that they
were now shutting down the nursing unit as the home couldn't provide the care the residents deserved. I'm totally relieved the home received an unannounced visit and they found residents unwashed and uncared for. A national newspaper rated it the third worst care home in the UK, please don't send your loved ones there. I have now found a new home for my sister and can finally relax knowing she will be well cared for, she won't be left in bed all day half dressed in just a top and unwashed. I just wish someone would have listened to me sooner.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are very sorry to hear of the concerns that you have raised. We have been carrying out a comprehensive programme of improvements driven by our new Clinical Home Manager, supported by a Resident Experience Support Manager. This programme includes a comprehensive review of care plans and records to ensure they are kept up to date and reflect the needs and preferences of residents. There is also refresher and development training sessions for the team to reinforce our policies and procedures to support high standards of care. The decision to stop the provision of nursing care was made due to the difficulty in recruiting and retaining permanent nursing staff and we recognised we were unable to deliver a consistent standard of nursing care whilst reliant on a high number of non-permanent agency nurses.
We are pleased to hear your sister has settled in her new home. If you would like to discuss anything further in more detail we ask that you kindly contact the Home Manager or Regional Manager for the care home in the first instance or alternatively the link to our complaints information is https://www.fshc.co.uk/feedback-on-our-homes/ where additional contact information is provided.

My mam was in the care home 6 months until she died in February, my mam had Alzheimer's and was in the late stage when she went in, she was taken in to hospital in December with sepsis but she was also severely dehydrated, when she went back to the home in January she could no longer weight bare and
was in a lot of pain, I was told because of this it would be best she didn't get out of bed. Having to sit at the side of her an tell her she had to use the bed as a toilet was soul destroying she was embarrassed and would say "that's dirty". Because she had Alzheimer's she had lost her dignity and the only bit she had left was taken away from her I believe solely because of the lack of carers. I don't blame the carers their care was excellent but you need to get more as it has been said in a previous review you are losing some of your best carers to other home's because they are of the opinion that because you are understaffed they can't give the care they want to give, I find this really sad.

All staff were absolutely fantastic. Mum was resident for "end of life" care. She was very ill when she went into the home but actually picked up due to the friends she made who were her carers.

My wife said "Not only did they care for your mum, they actually cared about her"

My mum has only been in this care home for one month but so far we are very pleased with the care she is receiving.
Can't comment on meals as we have never seen any being served.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.901)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.901) out of 10 for Hemsworth Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.132 for Hemsworth Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 68 Ratings = 4.132

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.769 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hemsworth Park Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 93 registered maximum number of service users is 18.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 18.6 = 0.269

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
