Food is basic and not appetising. On one occasion residents were given crumpets with squirty cream on for desert. There isn't fresh fruit available at meal times. Residents with allergies are not given the same choices as other residents and are often given repetitive meals.
Clothes often going missing
and usually found on other residents. Personal hygiene is hit and miss with residents left without being showered for months. Residents being taken to bed at half past six and the ones that won't stay in bed often left in lounge with no tv or music on.
Staff are undertrained and struggle with the care of the more challenging residents. Management don't listen and will often fabricate the truth to cover up mistakes. Trust is now broken over the number of incidents I have had to endure and challenge.

Four and a half years on, brilliant before Covid. Staff left not replaced. So very short staffed. Residents washing care is very poor ie. baths, hair wash, bed baths. Too many agency staff who have not a clue, makes it very hard for carers. Nursing staff, very good. Do not agree with staff rotation
from one unit to another. Residents get used to regular face recognition and it upsets them with strangers doing personal care or agency nurses (medication problem). This is their home, not an establishment.

My grandma has been a resident for 3 years. I was upset when she was first put into residential care but when I went down to see her I was very impressed. From the moment you walk through the door, every member of staff are so warm and welcoming and you can just feel the positive vibe. The decor is
lovely and light and loved the dining room. It really does feel like a home from home. My grandma came in looking poorly and withdrawn and within a few months, she was smiling and joining in games. I absolutely love visiting and even now as she is really poorly the care and attention the staff give is excellent. I can't thank the staff enough.

My mum was a resident in Manor Park Care Home from 2014 until her passing in December 2021. The care and attention from the staff were exceptional throughout her time there, and I cannot thank the nurses, carers and office staff enough. When she ended up on end-of-life care, the support to myself as
well as my mum was brilliant and will always be grateful for that - thank you. I've never regretted for one minute her being in Manor Park and would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody else in the same situation.

Mum came into the home 2 weeks before lockdown started, which ended up being a very worrying and stressful two years for her. Especially with being alone in her room with no family or friends visiting - no fault of the staff.
Then eventually, early this year, Mum was moved into a room downstairs with
a window view and access to the garden outside. This has given her a new lease of life and the staff have been busy doing activities, especially one member of staff, in particular, who has gone behond caring for Mum but like a friend too cheering her up when she is down. Thanks to all the staff for all their hard work. I know sometimes there isn't enough staff working but as long as they try their best and keep Mum safe and happy.

My mum went into Manor Park Care Home in August having been in respite care for 4 weeks at another home, but they wanted Mum’s bed so we had to find another home. It was the best thing that could have happened. Mum had 2 weeks before she died of love, care, attention and compassion shown to her and
us as a family from all the staff from office to nursing and carers. They are all a credit to their profession.
Our mum died in a dignified way and we are all truly grateful for that.

My wife went in for two weeks respite while I was in the hospital. Her daughters took her in. My wife has dementia and is sometimes very vocal, on the second day my daughter reported her big toe was infected and needed looking at, this was on Tuesday. I came out of the hospital and went to see my wife
on the Sunday. She was very upset and told me her foot was very sore. I looked and it was badly infected by now, in fact, her foot was red. I took her out immediately and didn’t tell anyone why. When I got her home I phoned 111 and they sent an ambulance. He looked at it and said it’s bad but taking her to the hospital will probably upset her more. I agreed, they contacted my doctor the next day Monday, as luck had it, the podiatrist came to see her that day as well. She took one look at it and reported it to the diabetic centre in Pontefract. They came out the next day and started treatment. My wife had an X-ray, turns out her bone was also infected, she is now on two courses of antibiotics for six weeks.

My mum is a resident in Manor Park Care Home and it has been very difficult over the last year not being able to see her and hug her. She doesn't understand. Christmas was especially hard for all our family. We thought we were gonna be allowed to see her, but then the home had a case of COVID. I especially
would like to mention one carer, she has been so good FaceTiming the family with my mum every week. I cannot thank her enough.

The home is friendly, the staff always manage a smile. Last year proved to be very difficult for everyone, they all rose to the challenge, kept Mum and Dad safe and well cared for. My only criticism is that information was slow to filter out to families and it was difficult to contact me as the phone
system could take the call elsewhere.
I would like to say a big thank you to the team.

From having a look round, meeting staff and viewing rooms we knew this was the place for us, Cutsyke, not being far from Pontefract. The management and staff are all lovely. They can not do enough for you, always greeted with a smile and hello. My mother-in-law is happy there and we can rest assured
she is being looked after very well which means a lot.

Current Review Score: 1.9 (1.917)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 1.9 (1.917) out of 10 for Manor Park Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 1.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 0.0 out of 5 from 0 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 1.917 for Manor Park Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 1.917

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 0 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manor Park Care Home is based on 0 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) =

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 0 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
