My mum, who has Alzheimers is now a permanent resident in Snapethorpe Hall after going in in April. This was the hardest decision I had to make putting my mum in a home, after looking after her for nearly 3 years in my own home with myself and my husband. I have found it to be so nice going to see Mum
and feeling like a daughter and no longer her carer. I have found the home to be spotlessly clean and all the staff are so lovely, there is some form of entertainment every day. I have been kept informed about how my mum is and I feel at ease to visit or phone them whenever I want. The staff are always busy but still find the time to chat with you if need be. My mum is very well cared for and comfortable.
I would recommend Snapethorpe Hall.

I always get a friendly welcome at Snapethorpe Hall, all the staff are friendly and helpful and my partner looks well cared for. Leaving my partner after a visit is always problematic but the staff are super at providing diversional tactics.

Most of Mum's care was fine, but was dissatisfied with food. She was on a level six swallow and was given the wrong food on several occasions while I was there. Mum died of sepsis, aspiration pneumonia, ischemic heart disease and Alzheimer's. I would not recommend Snapethorpe Hall. Mum was left in bed
on many occasions. I got her out, washed and dressed her.

I feel my dad was looked after well, and his basic needs were catered for. Most staff were caring and friendly, but some could be moody and unapproachable. In comparison to some other homes, I feel Snapethorpe lacks a welcoming and social environment for guests and residents.
In four years, staff
turnover has been frequent.
I didn't always get accurate updates on his health and because of Dad's dementia, he became agitated when he was given letters about hospital appointments. Dad's only complaint was the food - he said quality could be better. In general, though, I am happy with his care and thank all staff for looking after him.

All the staff made us all feel like we were at home. I moved into the home to be with Mum in her final days, and it was actually a lovely time. Such a lovely team of staff, and also the night staff keeping me and the family happy and supported. Thank you all so much for everything.

Very nice staff who meet you at the door, help you with lift. A very clean and fresh-smelling home. All the staff I have met have been very nice. Residents that are able to are well dressed. The rooms are kept very nice and clean. It's the nicest home I have ever visited.

Would not recommend this care home to anyone who is vulnerable. The level of care is disgusting, as is the level of personal hygiene. In our opinion, the staff did as little as possible, no interaction with the residents who were in bed 24hrs! Most of the staff were rude to residents and family members.
The only staff members showing any compassion were some of the cleaners, there were so many issues, which were addressed in meetings with management, but none were improved. Sadly Mum passed away in hospital a few weeks ago. At least it's comforting to know she was being cared for in her last days, you would have thought a call from staff or management would have occurred. Not a word!

Mother was placed into Snapethorpe, recovering from a broken tibia (lower leg). She quickly decided she didn't like being there. A clash of personalities with some staff and the care she received. Myself and my daughters had a meeting with management, who listened to our concerns and dealt with them,
things did improve, and my mum's attitude was improved by the time she left to go home. She felt they had done a good job of care and friendship. I felt she had good reason to be concerned about her care; she should have been in rehabilitation - not a care home!

Thank you for your feedback; it is much appreciated, and we will use this to develop our approach with other residents and families. The current Discharge to Assess process in Adult Social Care means people are discharged to services for rehabilitation and assessment rather than a traditional rehabilitation service. This is a new process, and we work hard to ensure our communication with families and the therapy team supports people to move home if that is their goal. We are pleased we were able to support your mother back home successfully and wish her well in the future.

To have found people who care during such a profoundly difficult two years, perhaps only equivalent to a world war time, has been a sanctuary for Dad and also for his family. All staff, from housekeeping to carers to manager, have been kind and empathetic, and above all, caring! As Dad became bed-bound,
it is to their care and credit that he never sustained pressure sores! All staff treated him with respect and loved him as though he was part of their own family, for which we are forever grateful. Thank you for giving us this sanctuary.

My father was admitted for respite care in July 2021 - he had a diagnosis of dementia. On his admission, my family and I gave them a full history of his likes and dislikes. I spent an hour with a nurse on the phone telling her this. My father has always been what we term a 'fussy eater'. Two days
later, I was told that my father was eating cereal - he had never eaten cereal in his life and if you put anything milky in front of him he could be sick at the thought of having to eat it! The next day he was sat having porridge! I asked about his drinking and yes, they were ensuring that he drank. On the Saturday my sister had a call from here, Dad had fallen and they were waiting for an ambulance - no carers were going with him to the hospital! He eventually let the clinical staff take bloods. What did they show - that he was so dehydrated he need urgent admission and fluids. The day after admission he died. Would I recommend here - no chance. And they charged for the full fortnight.

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Amy has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked in the care sector for over 14 years, Amy closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Amy remarked:


“Listening to and learning from the stories of people from all walks of life, I am reminded every day of the importance of not taking anything in life for granted.”
