Very friendly and welcoming staff who have so much time for you. They all show care and compassion to the job they are doing and they look after the residents/service users like they are family. The home had a lovely welcoming feel to it and felt more than happy that my friend was being very well looked
after and cared for. Thank you so much to all the staff who went out of their way to look after the guests and visitors while tending to the care and needs of the residents/service users. It makes the hard times so much more acceptable.

The care at Victoria House has been outstanding. All staff are compassionate and kind. My grandma has lived there for the last few months of her life. Despite being extremely high risk, her skin remained intact. She was at high risk of falls and frightened of being alone, they converted a room so she
could receive enhanced care. The symptom management of her bowel cancer was brilliant and her end-of-life care was second to none. The care extended to our entire family and we were welcomed into theirs. The infection prevention and control management is outstanding. Communication is empathetic and they have taken the time to speak to all of us. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you for everything.

This is the second time we have used the care home since 2001. We have found the staff very caring and a lovely, friendly atmosphere. We can't thank them enough for everything they have done.

The home has good lead management which filters down to staff, then residents, which is pleasing to related people of the residents. The staff are always there to help, when asked and react in a positive way, leading to a good outcome. This brings great comfort in knowing your loved one is cared for.

As my mum approaches her 102nd birthday, I would like to register my unreserved gratitude and thanks for the work of all staff at Victoria House in preserving the highest quality of life possible for her. Over the last few years, staff have become almost a substitutionary family and comfort for a very
elderly resident. This is greatly reassuring for relatives, but particularly when, such as myself, I live some distance away and can only visit periodically. In the most difficult of years for all, they have provided a quality of care that is exemplary, and physically, my mum is probably looking healthier than she did even several years ago, prior to moving to Victoria House. It is difficult for anybody to witness the decline of loved ones, but that pain is significantly eased by the level of confidence that both my sister and I have gained in the care that we have seen provided. A big thanks to all who have spent time with her and cared for all her needs.

Reply from Tina Rowley, Matron/Manager at Victoria House

This has been received with heartfelt appreciation. Caring for our residents is both an honour and a privilege, as families place their trust in us to ensure their loved ones are as important to us as they are to them. We pride ourselves that we care for our residents as if they were our own extended family. It is also important that families have supported the staff too by appreciating this difficult time and understanding the way we have needed to and continue to keep everyone safe from this pandemic.

On a window visit to see my mother, I have not seen her look so well for years. She has, obviously, been locked after very well. Her hair was trimmed, washed and brushed. She had eaten well and was in very good spirits. The carers and management all knew her, she has only been at Victoria House for
two weeks. An absolutely wonderful find! Thank you.

This is such a wonderful review, especially in these hard times. We endeavour to take care of all our residents, families and visitors as if they were our own.

Sadly my wife was admitted during the Lockdown period. Every effort was made for me to see and talk to my wife. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful on my visits.

Reply from Tina Rowley, Matron/Manager at Victoria House

It was a privilege knowing that you entrusted the care of your Wife to us and especially in such unprecedented times. You were very understanding and supportive towards the staff, and you fully understood the difficult circumstances Covid 19 had placed on visiting. He was always positive and helpful throughout his window visits and it was an honour for all our team to have met such a wonderful couple.

The management and staff at Victoria House treated my mum so well and she had the best care for the last couple of months of her life. The staff always communicated with me because I live in another country and they would take the phone to her so I could talk to my mum.
Everyone was very kind when
she passed away and helped with all the information I needed.

A good friend of my wife’s family moved to Victoria House in only November this year for end of life care after a short stay in another care home where we feel they were not able to provide the care she needed or deserved.
All the staff at Victoria House treated her with great affection and adding
to that an outstanding level of care and I truly mean that.
My wife and I were always very impressed by the feeling of warmth shown by the staff to the residents and the personal attention they give to each and every one of them, with the family also not missing out on that.
Our good family friend recently passed peacefully with two members of staff by her side still giving her hugs etc as always. I cannot recommend Victoria House highly enough. Thank you all for taking great care of her during her short stay with you ensuring her last weeks were as comfortable as possible under the circumstances.

Cannot fault Victoria House. From the first day, our loved one became a resident there. The staff made us feel really welcome. They treat every resident with the love, care, respect and dignity they deserve. We lost our loved in November and the support the family received from all the staff was lovely.
I would not think twice about any of my loved ones residing in Victoria House, because we knew that when we left our loved one after visiting them, they would be well looked after. The staff treat everyone like one of their own family, and that means a lot.

My Aunt became a resident at Victoria House in January 2018 and sadly passed away in January 2019. She had exceptional care. All the staff, including the manager, nurses, carers, domestic team, chef, OT, hairdresser and admin are devoted to the residents. They show such loving kindness and patience.
My Aunt died with dignity. I can't thank them enough.

When looking for a home for my dad, as soon as we walked into Victoria House it felt really homely and right. My Dad is there for End of Life Care and we feel we couldn't have chosen anywhere better. It is a shame he didn't go there earlier to be able to enjoy all they have to offer. All the staff are
lovely and really caring and also supportive of us. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Victoria House to others. Thank you.

Couldn't wish for better care and understanding from staff - from management to cleaners - all showed the utmost respect towards us as a family. They gave Dad his dignity and cared for him like he was family.

I will be forever grateful to everyone there.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.167)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.167) out of 10 for Victoria House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Victoria House is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.167 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victoria House is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.167

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
