St Margaret's Care Home is situated in Grimsby on Littlecoates Road. It provides residential, nursing and EMI care for elderly people and those with mental health needs or dementia.

The home is set in a series of attractive themed gardens which are very popular with residents, including the Rose Garden, the Royal Garden, a pond and a wildlife area. Residents enjoy looking at the gardens from their rooms, sitting out when the weather is good and getting involved with weeding, planting and harvesting fruit.

A packed and varied programme of activities is offered by two friendly Activity Coordinators. This includes pamper days (haircuts, shaving, manicures, pedicures, massages, makeup), exercise (gentle games and movement), games (bingo, quiz, bocca), art and craft (painting, drawing, colouring, making), knit and natter and baking.

Therapies such as sensory sessions with light, sound, touch and scent are on offer, as is the popular pet therapy where animals visit for cuddles, as well as reminiscence sessions to remember good times and memories.

Monthly church services are available for those who want them and there are lots of days out to the seaside, local garden centres, shopping, evenings at the theatre and trips to the pub.

Individuals have choice as to how they spend their time and everyone has a person-centred care plan.

Staff are friendly, dedicated and professional and there are qualified nurses on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The team at St Margaret's work closely with local professionals such as GPs, dieticians, speech therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and other healthcare professionals.

The home is a warm and welcoming environment where people are treated with dignity and respect.

From making the first telephone call, we found the staff at St Margaret’s kind, caring and understanding. We were able to view the facilities at a time that suited us and staff were available to answer any questions we had. We were offered a choice of rooms and they were all clean and fresh. Once our
mum had moved in, she was treated with the utmost care, respect and dignity. We were able to visit at any time and could always speak to staff when we needed to. We found all the staff very approachable and everyone seemed happy and friendly. The food always looked and smelt great, the rooms were kept clean and nothing was too much trouble. The whole process, from beginning to end, was made simple and hassle-free. We would have no hesitation in recommending St Margaret’s. Big thank you to everyone who helped to care for our mum.

My father went into St Margaret's Care Home unfortunately for end of life care. It was a distressing time for him and all the family and was only made bearable by the kind and professional care given by all the staff and management at the home. From the moment he arrived he was made to feel welcome
and I know how much he thought of everyone who looked after him. He ate well, his personal care was always observed and was treated with total dignity and respect by all. Visiting family were all made to feel the same way. My dad came to regard many of the staff as friends and so did I. Nothing but love and respect for the whole team. Ten out of ten.

Lovely staff who care about the residents.
My grandad is well looked after and feels safe and comfortable here.
The setting and grounds are really pleasant, and it's nice and quiet.
They even brought ice lollies out with it being so warm.

My dad went into the home on end-of-life in February 2020. My mother has advanced dementia, so went into the dementia unit. We couldn't have given enough praise to the staff on the end-of-life unit - they were excellent. Sadly Dad passed on the 7th of March, but Mam is still there. The manager always
makes time to listen to any worries or questions/queries, as does the assistant manager. The carers are great and listen, also understanding dementia helps a lot of people. Look at Mam, and because you can't see dementia, thinks she's fine. St Margaret's puts residents' care/needs above everything else.

My son first went to St Margaret's for respite care but was admitted for full-time care a number of years ago. In all the time he has been at St Margaret's, the staff have been caring, compassionate, friendly and professional. Nothing is too much trouble, and I am always kept informed of his care needs.
I can take comfort in the fact that he is well looked after in a safe and friendly environment.

I was so upset when the time came that I could not manage Dad in his own home. I have to thank all the staff who settled Dad very quickly during difficult times with Covid. My dad is 89 with dementia. He is safer here than at home and gets better care here when he has seizures than he ever did in the
hospital. The carers have patience, they treat him with respect and dignity, and I do not know where we would be without all their help. I would not hesitate to recommend this nursing home all-round.

My mother was discharged from the hospital after they discovered she had a cancerous tumour. She chose not to have surgery and was put on end of life care and was admitted to St Margaret’s Care Home in Dec 2021. From the moment she was admitted, she has been shown nothing but love, care, compassion,
empathy, kindness and dignity from all members of staff. I couldn’t wish for such a wonderful place for my mum to end her last days. I really appreciate everything you all have done and continue to do for my mother. I know she has loved every minute she has spent her.
The staff have adhered to all the rules over Covid for the health and safety of all staff and residents. Knowing this has given me the peace of mind that she is in the best hands. All heroes don’t all wear capes, but some wear masks and PPE.

6 days after dad was diagnosed with cancer, he moved to St Margaret's for end of life care. The care from all staff was excellent, the home was run like a mini-hospital, very organised. At 3.30 am one day, tearful and wanting to be close to dad, a lovely nurse let me in, gave me a blanket and walked
me to his room, she said to ring the bell if I needed anything. The family was so impressed by the high standard of care, we moved mum to St. Margaret's from another care home dementia unit, a week before dad died. Mums personal hygiene improved immediately, no more greasy hair and chipped nails. During one visit, mum was out of sorts, a carer helped me get her in the wheelchair so I could take her back to her room, she was too weak to walk. Mum was very agitated, the carer hugged mum, calmed her down and when settled in her room, a nurse took her temp (39.6). Mum was put in 14 days isolation due to coronavirus, so family was asked to leave, again in a professional, caring manner.

As you know, we’re being extra vigilant and careful with regard to Coronavirus and that is why your mum was initially isolated until we discovered the cause of her high temperature. As you’re aware, your mum has received treatment and is now out of isolation. We’re really pleased that with our strict infection control procedures we have so far been able to prevent a Coronavirus outbreak in our home.

My mother-in-law came to St. Margaret's in December 2017 after a stay in hospital, until she passed away on 3rd March this year. We want to say a heartfelt thank you for all the care mum received during her stay. As we don't live locally, to know that mum received the best possible care and respect
at all times has been a comfort to us. We always found all the staff to be caring, polite and supportive, both with mum and ourselves. Our experience of visiting St.Margaret's has been a positive one, and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. Thank you all.

The staff at St Margaret's looked after my mother for about a year and a half following discharge from hospital on an end of life package. She was firstly nursed back to some kind of health and thereafter looked after with care, dignity and love. No praise can be too high for the staff. Visiting was
always easy and we always received a friendly welcome.

My wife was a resident at St Margaret's during a spell of treatment which included three operations on her leg. It was after the second operation and a period in physio while she was waiting to return to hospital for a final operation that she spent at St Margaret's. The management and all staff were
efficient, friendly and more importantly, open about everything they did.
Carers talked to folk like they were family, giving banter back and forth and no-nonsense. There were loads of things to keep the residents interested, filling their days with things to do. They had craft classes, dominoes, games afternoons and much more. My wife spent time in 3 care homes during her treatment and St Margaret's was head and shoulders above the rest.

My mother has been in the care of St Margaret’s Nursing Home for just over five weeks now and in that time the improvement in her health and well being has been remarkable. She is more alert (and looks it), she has a good deal more conversation, she is eating more (and looking forward to her food) and
she is walking (with assistance) which she hasn’t really done for some long time now. We realise that these are still early days but all members of the family ( 11 of us have visited at different times so far and some of us on several occasions) are very pleasantly surprised and cheered by this improvement in my mother’s condition which we attribute to the care and attention which she is now receiving at St Margaret’s. Every member of St Margaret’s team has been approachable and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The home is bright and busy and welcoming.

My mum was in St Margaret's Care Home for only a short period of time while waiting to be moved to a rehabilitation unit. In that time I felt my mum was not treated with the respect she deserved by some members of staff, particularly by a senior staff member. There was little or no communication between
staff and family members, and we were made to feel that approaching senior staff with questions to help my mum settle in were dealt with in a very defensive manner, that was not helpful or welcoming. My mum was discharged and sent to the rehab centre without any communication to the family who was not aware that this was happening. As my mum is very deaf she needs extra support with communicating and that did not happen.
