Both my parents reside at Castlethorpe, they both are well cared for and their needs met. The staff are friendly and approachable. It is well managed and any concerns have always been dealt with.
The staff have good relationships with my parents and as long as they are happy I am.
Staff are always
helpful and full of smiles. The care home put on events for family to attend and do activities with the residents. I love getting emailed pics of my father taking part in activities or him singing away to music. My mum is bed-bound so is checked on regularly.
I would recommend Castlethorpe as I'm happy with the care my parents get. They all do a marvellous job in caring for them.

My mum's not happy that there are no nurses on hand now if she has a medical problem to discuss. She doesn't feel happy discussing medical problems with carers. She is also always complaining to me about the lack of carers and that they don't have a lot of time to spend with her. Several times I've
been in on a Saturday morning - I always arrive at 10.30am - and she hasn't had a carer in to wash and dress her!

Reply from Parum Sidhpura, Managing Director at Castlethorpe Nursing Home

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear your mum has been feeling unhappy with certain aspects of her care. While Castlethorpe Nursing Home is no longer a nursing home due to the deregistration of our nursing service, we strive to ensure all medical concerns are promptly addressed by our trained carers, who can liaise with external healthcare professionals when needed. We understand your mum is a residential client and appreciate how important it is for her to feel supported. We are reviewing our care routines to ensure that assistance is provided consistently and in a timely manner, particularly in the mornings and on weekends. Staffing levels are also regularly monitored to ensure our carers have sufficient time to provide the high-quality care we aim for. We greatly value your feedback and invite you to contact us directly so we can discuss your concerns further and work towards improving your mum's experience.

My Father received excellent care while staying at Castlethorpe Nursing Home. They let us know from the beginning what he needed. His clothes were sorted and hung in his wardrobe before we arrived. It all led to a good feeling about the place. The staff were available to talk to if you asked. They told
me what they were doing to help my Dad as much as they could.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.837)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.837) out of 10 for Castlethorpe Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.333 for Castlethorpe Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (29 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.333

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.504 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Castlethorpe Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.254

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
