Randolph House Care Home is located in a residential area west of Scunthorpe and is convenient for shops, amenities, public transport and the motorway network.

Randolph House is a custom-built residential home with separate areas for residential residents and those residents needing support as they are living with a cognitive impairment like dementia. The home is proud to offer those who challenge mainstream services a safe place to call home and have purpose built specialised houses to meet the needs of individuals with acquired brain injuries, challenging behaviour, dementia, and a variety of other complex conditions.

They used a specialised computerised care planning and documentation system which ensures staff are able to record all their support to residents quickly and efficiently and therefore have more time to spend with residents to ensure they have the best possible quality of life.

They ensure that a wide range of activities and social events are regularly organised. They provide a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet for all residents and the team ensure there is always a warm welcome and home-from-home feeling within the care home.

Residents can benefit from the regular visits made to the home by an experienced hairstylist and qualified chiropodist visits.

Sometimes her clothes aren't clean and she has plenty to change into and sometimes she wears someone else's clothes. The lady who does the activities is good and gets everyone involved and when we have been there some of the carers are on their phone and not looking after them.

My husband has been in Randolph House nearly 2 years with Alzheimer's. He had a few negative experiences in three other care homes before coming here and I have to say, having worked in the NHS for many years, to compare the standard of care is brilliant. The staff are so caring and, although he now
is unaware of his surroundings, they treat him admirably. There is never a smell as you walk through the front door or anywhere else throughout the home. The staff are always upbeat and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. They have plenty of activities going on and the food is very good and wholesome.

Thank you for taking time to give such positive feedback, it is a privilege to provide care and support for all the residents living here. It is also so important to all of us at Randolph House that every member of our residents' family and friends feel confident in the service that we provide.

Mum has had a lot of falls due to her fragility and Alzheimers. She now has to wear a collar and cuff sling so is unable to feed herself. The staff here are lovely taking care of mum assisting her with dressing and at meal times. I visit mum almost every day and the staff are brilliant! Meals are nutritional.
Everywhere is always spotlessly clean. I myself can't praise the staff and management enough.

The staff are attentive to residents' needs at all times and work very hard. The care home is very clean in all areas. The staff are always happy to see us visiting and often stop to talk and keep us updated. Meals are always of a good variety and look appetising. We are really happy with the care our
mother gets in Randolph House, and wouldn't change this.

My mum has settled in Randolph House very well she now feels like this is her home she is happy, safe and secure in her twilight years. She tells me she has lovely meals. All the staff appear to treat her with respect and dignity and clearly care for her wellbeing. She is always kept clean and tidy
so overall very satisfied.

My mother needed the support and assistance that only a care home could provide. Randolph House is close to where I live and our first choice to see how mum responded to living in a residential care home. The home has been very accommodating to her needs, she already loves all the staff that work there
and praises them, food and the cleanliness. I've not been allowed in due to Covid-19.

My mother has been living here since 2010 - chosen through previous recommendations from people we knew. The standard of care in the 9 and a half years of my mother being here has been excellent. The care staff really do care for the residents.
The standard of meals is excellent and the chef will
make anything a resident would prefer if it's not on the menu that day. The cleaner is on duty every day - laundry services too. There's a hair salon and various other services that come in.

It was lovely to see my mum joining in with the 40s and 50s singalong with the singer you organised in December. Mum loved it and even though she suffers from dementia, she really joined in. Thanks, it made my day. I live a distance away so it is difficult to know how she is from day to day as I can't
just pop in, but I feel reassured that she is well looked after and happy. I wish you had a page on social media that you could use to show what is going on. A few care homes near me do this and it's great to see what is going on. Maybe something to think about?.

My mum has been a resident since 2017 and was very scared at the prospect of giving up her independence but the staff have made her feel like it is a home from home. For me, as a relative who needed the reassurance that my mum would be cared for, respected and safe in her environment, this was the ideal
choice. The home is clean, friendly and the staff are caring and engaging. Mum has her own space when she needs it but there are plenty of activities for her to participate in if she wants to. She is actively encouraged to do so by both the staff and us as relatives. Mum particularly enjoys the food which she says is just like homemade with a wide choice and always fresh. If Mum is not up to joining her fellow residents in the communal dining room, her meals are brought to her room, which is a comfort to know that Mum is not ignored and that she is being monitored to ensure that she does not go hungry or become dehydrated. We are, as a family, very happy that our mum is safe and happy.

Dad has been in the care of Randolf House now coming up to 3years, it’s more like a real home rather than a care home, he is a dementia sufferer and settled in within half an hour, the careers couldn’t do enough to welcome him, he is treated like one of their family. We visit dad two to three times
a week at least and are welcomed by the careers the same every time, they are so dedicated. It is so reassuring knowing dad is well cared for, he is so happy. Would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone.

Mother seems settled and very happy here. The hard working staff are marvellous treating the individual residents with respect protecting their dignity and all with humour and professionalism we her family and other visitors are made to feel very welcome every time we visit and are kept well informed.
The
social coordinator certainly tries to come up with events, games, music sessions etc to stimulate the residents as much as possible. I would like to thank every one of the brilliant team.

From November 2015 I have been visiting Randolf House to gain work experience as I am wanting to become an Adult Nurse. I was able to meet many of the residents, interact with them, have a game of bingo, make bunnies for Easter and tissue paper flowers for mothers day including many more activities.
I would like to thank one member of staff who showed me around the care home and encouraged me to carry out activities with the residents. By doing this I was able to build on all of my skills that I will need for when I go to university. I would also like to thank the home manger and all other members of staff for being very welcoming and making the care home a wonderful and happy place to be. I will miss carrying out my work experience and miss the residents that i was able to make a bond with. I hope to return the the care home to visit soon.

Current Review Score: 7.1 (7.094)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.1 (7.094) out of 10 for Randolph House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.000 for Randolph House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (13 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.094 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Randolph House Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.6 = 0.094

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
