Beanlands Nursing Home is situated in the quiet, leafy village of Cross Hills, just outside of Skipton and Keighley. Established as a nursing home in 1974, it represents one of the oldest and most respected care homes in the district.

Since April 2023, it has been operating as a new business, under a new, highly experienced management team and with a new CQC registration. The new ownership has already invested heavily into establishing solid foundations into the fabric of the home, including a new central heating system, a state-of-the-art electronic call-bell system, and installing an interactive system to create transparent, reliable and truly personalised care plans.

Since the acquisition, there has also been a commitment to providing the most up-to-date training for all staff to ensure the care delivered is of the highest standard. All of which will help deliver Beanlands Nursing Home back to its former standing and in line with the company values of ‘understanding care and practicing compassion’.

Beanlands Nursing Home has been tastefully decorated to an exceptionally high standard, offering a choice of spacious single and companion rooms, some of which have en-suite facilities. All rooms are fitted with quality furniture and a personal interactive call-bell system. Residents are encouraged to bring personal items such as small items of furniture, photographs, ornaments, and other treasured mementos to help make each room their own.

The home also offers residents a choice of lounges across both floors and a large dining conservatory area, so that they can enjoy the stunning views and the changing of seasons in both warmth and comfort.

Beanlands Nursing Home has been rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ under CQC instruction (July 2022). However, under its new direction with the improvements and clear guidance, there is high optimism that the home will achieve its goal of ‘striving for outstanding’.

My Mum has only been in Beanlands for 6 weeks. I really can't praise every single staff member and the family who owns it now enough. They have gone above and beyond not only helping Mum settle into her new environment but also us as a family. They have got her pain under control which neither the hospital
or doctors could do previously. Mum is walking again and able to get into bed. They show care and compassion to both Mum and us as a family and have taken the time to understand Mum's complex needs.
When you go and visit Mum the staff go out of their way to say hello and answer any questions you may have. I have lost count of the times they say if you need anything for Mum just ask and we are here to support you as well. Thank you isn't enough for how this dedicated team are currently helping not only us but other residents.

Reply from Baldev Singh Chaggar, Proprietor at Beanlands Nursing Home

Thank you for your incredibly kind words. We do all that we can to ensure our residents are looked after the best they can be, and ensure Beanlands remains a true 'home to home' experience. We will pass on your lovely words to our staff, and they will be delighted to be presented with such wonderful feedback. Thank you for your support, and we are all so very glad that Mum is in the best place she can be. We will continue to strive for outstanding care in all aspects for Mum.

My dad was in Beanlands from October 12th, 2023 till May 1st, 2024. There were teething problems, but these were quickly sorted out. The lovely family that owns it now really had their work cut out to start sorting out issues left by the previous group that owned it. In the short time, Dad was there,
we were listened to, and felt to be a huge part of Dad's care. The staff literally became my "Beanlands family" and always will be, even the maintenance/gardener took time out for a chat on the morning Dad passed away. I'll always be grateful for speaking to me that morning. Thank you all so very much for the love and care you gave, not only to Dad but to my family too. You have a great team, and I know and believe you will get an outstanding rating which you are striving for. I know it takes time, but you're all doing a fantastic job. I wish you all the very best for the future. I will be popping in periodically to see you all. I miss going in and chatting with all the staff and relatives.

As a small family provider of care, our only goal is to add real tangible quality to the lives of those we care for, to ensure the burden of care is shared by our whole team, managers, and providers, with only the very best care possible being good enough. We seek to be outstanding, not just in rating but in practice, so this kind of feedback from any family rewards the whole Beanlands family, managers, and providers, thankyou. if anyone is in need of information or support with a care placement or simply needs to chat, please get in touch with any member of the Beanlands family.

My husband was already poorly when he was discharged from the hospital and admitted to Beanlands Nursing Home on November the 15th 2023. His extreme vascular dementia and immobility led to some very challenging behaviour which all staff members dealt with calmly and admirably. I was very impressed by
how the younger carers coped. The more senior members of staff were there when I needed reassurance and I was fed and made comfortable when I stayed overnight. Although my husband did not take part in any activities I was aware of the effort that was put into organising them. I also did not have to pay because my husband's stay was so short, however, I asked what the cost per week and I thought it was excellent value. My husband died on December the 3rd 2023 and I couldn't stop myself writing in my thank you letter to management and staff that if I ever became similarly afflicted like my husband I would hope that there would be a bed for me at Beanlands!

I stayed at Beanlands Nursing Home on respite in early November 2023. I was in a very distressed state when I arrived and it was short notice. The staff welcomed me and helped me settle down with a pleasant and kind manner. They did everything they could to make me feel at home. I would recommend this
home to anyone looking for somewhere to place their loved one for care.

Beanlands Nursing Home was amazing. Can't fault the care and compassion shown to my dad during his end-of-life care. The manager was great, always available with empathy whilst running a great team.
Thank you all for everything you've done.

Mum moved to Beanlands Nursing Home in April when her previous care home closed. She settled in very well and was well cared for the last six months of her life.

Really great place. My grandad moved here after some problems with a different care home. Beanlands made such a great effort throughout his stay and made sure he was comfortable and safe. They also kept us well informed and all the staff I encountered were inviting and friendly. Feels very homely.

My brother and myself were brought up in a residential home. Beanlands reminds us both of the happy years we spent there. Every member of staff could not be more helpful, our mother has dementia and is not aware of her surroundings, all that said she constantly reminds us how lovely the staff are.
We
found it very hard placing mum in a home but could not be happier with the choice we made with Beanlands. From the minute we arrive, we are made to feel so welcome, and it's not for show, mums been there 4 weeks and it's still as good and welcoming now as it was the first day.
We cannot praise the staff and company enough.
If you are looking for a place for your parents please take a look.

Right from the beginning of my step-father’s journey into the care home the whole team have been outstanding. From visiting him and my mum in hospital to get to know them, to letting us select a room that would fit my step-father's wishes.
The welcome from the staff was warm and welcoming, wants
and wishes have all been met. Staff even taking time to speak to family members when seeing that they're struggling with the current situation. So far as a family we have been really touched and warmed by the compassion, warmth, respect and understanding that has been shown to us.

I personally think my mother is well cared for, I get lots of feedback - good and bad regarding my Mum's wellbeing. The staff are wonderful and do their utmost to keep everyone happy - which as any sensible person will know, isn't always easy. I would recommend Beanlands to anyone and would make the
same choice again.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. Every care and consideration was given to my aunt throughout her stay up until her untimely demise. Both I and the rest of the family and friends all agree that this is the home we would choose above all others if the need was there.

May I say what an extraordinary home Beanlands is. My niece has been there for about three years now and it just gets better and better. The management, staff, carers, the complete team of staff, including domestics, kitchen staff, maintenance are so kind and considerate. Nothing is too much trouble.
The happiness of the residents is paramount to them all, all willing to go the extra mile. I am more than willing to highly recommend it.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.816)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.816) out of 10 for Beanlands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.916 for Beanlands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (99 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.916

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beanlands Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
