I simply cannot rate the setting highly enough. The care they gave to my mother was simply second to none. She was treated with patience and compassion and the staff were, without exception, conscientious, committed and attentive. Mum visibly relaxed when she came here and so did I.
I'm only sad that
she couldn't enjoy the care she had here for longer but when she did eventually pass away, she was treated with honour and dignity and the staff gave me all the time I needed, plus hugs and cups of tea and - best of all - allowed me to talk and to ask questions.
I truly wouldn't hesitate to recommend the setting; the staff are a credit to both the management and the industry and it is a rare gem. I have some wonderful memories of Mum's last weeks (especially the sing-along) and it is beyond price to have that to look back upon and to know that I did a good thing the day I was able to bring her here.

After the new manager arrived all changed. We then had a caring, real team of professional staff and you felt they were all working together in the best interests of the residents. Nothing was too much effort by the staff to make the residents more comfortable and happy. I will always be grateful for
the help given to my wife as Alzheimer's took her away from us and their obvious share in our loss.

My nana is a resident here, she has dementia. Over the time that she has been a resident here, her needs may have changed a lot but the staff and management have dealt with her needs in a very caring and professional way. Most importantly keeping nana's dignity very much intact.
The food is excellent
and you can't fault it for the residents. Also most days the residents have activities that they can join in if they wish and quite regularly they arrange for family meal nights that have themes. They are amazing, thought out wonderfully.
The home is clean and hygiene is a top priority, so for me each time I'm entering the home there is a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
The staff are very caring not only for the resident but in my personal experience for the relatives as well.
Happily recommend the home and especially staff to people needing such a home/home environment for their family member/members.
Amazing, keep up the brilliant work and support that you do and give.

When visiting this care home I have found it to be probably the best in the area. The staff are always friendly and helpful and take very good care of the residents.

I seem to be at the age where all my friends have a mother in care too. Swapping notes it appears that my mum is having a better time of it than most. It's a purpose built but home.
Very clean and wonderful staff.

My mother has been at Beechwood Care Home for 12 months in which time she has been given excellent care but above all the very thing everyone needs, love and lots of cuddles.
She has recently had several falls due to her arthritis in her legs and spine. Thanks to the staff she has special cushions
and a mattress and also a special hat to protect her.
My husband and myself could not wish for her to be anywhere else.

Majority of staff are attentive and caring.

Never appears to be enough staff available, particularly at meal times when residents' repeated requests can be ignored or deferred for an unacceptable period of time.

Concerns over safety with seeming lack of staff around. More staff available, or

cameras installed, may offer reassurance.

Cleaning staff to be commended.

On visiting my gran, I was very impressed with the home. When she had to go into the home, I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised and put my mind at rest.
As I live over 200 miles away, I am not able to visit too often. So knowing she is being well cared for is comforting.

When we often visit we find the resident in a state. No one calls to see if he needs changing, this has happened often lately.

Staff responsive to requests and feedback from myself and family members. However, attention to personal care should not have to be requested by family members.
At times, particularly meal times, there does not appear to be enough staff. Noise level at meal times unacceptable. The quality of food could
be improved. Some staff members, a small number, show a lack of understanding of dementia in their attitude to residents - more dementia training? On the whole, staff friendly and responsive. Cleanliness good.

More care is needed in looking after personal belongings and laundry of clothes. I can't keep up with socks for my husband, they always go missing.
Sometimes, he goes 2-3 days without a shave. This morning when visiting, my husband was wearing trousers and shirt that were not ironed.
Lots of his
clothes have gotten lost while being in Beechwood Care Home.

My husband has been in Beechwood Nursing Home for approximately 8 months now. My initial experience was mixed in that I didn't feel welcomed by the staff and had concerns about how some of them responded to residents. However having raised issues with management I feel that my concerns are listened
to and dealt with. On the whole, I feel staff are compassionate and kind, which is what I hope for although sometimes I am not sure how well trained they are to deal with "difficult" situations. I am not entirely satisfied with the meals in terms of nutrition and quality all of the time and I am conscious of when there is a pervading smell of urine which is less often than it was. I hope my comments can be seen as constructive and useful as intended.

My mum has been a resident of this carehome for two years now, during this time she has been cared for by a band of extremely caring, kind and dedicated members of staff. It is extremely reassuring many of the staff are the same from the time when she was first admitted. The staff know her extremely
well, and we are happy to trust them with her care. Mum's time in Beechwood has been settled and brought her much calm during a difficult time in her battle with dementia.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.131)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.131) out of 10 for Beechwood Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.481 for Beechwood Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.481

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beechwood Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
