Welcome to Belmont House.

Located in the residential area of Starbeck in Harrogate, close to the town Train Station and Springwater School, Belmont House care home is a custom-built, three-storey care home.

The home is divided into five separate suites, spread over three floors. The Courtyard suite provides residential care for up to 30 people. The Garden and Spring Water suites both provide nursing care for 14 people each. The Park suite provides residential care for up to 17 people living with dementia, while the Promenade suite provides nursing care for up to 26 people with dementia. Each unit has a lounge and dining room for residents to relax and enjoy meals.

The home has three dedicated activities coordinators on-site to enable activities to be provided to all units. Residents enjoy activities in and out of the home which includes trips out to the pub for lunch, entertainers in the home, crafts, gardening, home baking, church services, libraries, 1-1 time and activities for annual special events and days.

They have a 5-star award in Food Hygiene at the home and believe food is a huge aspect of the care at Belmont House. Residents enjoy a cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner meals, supper and hospitality trolley with drinks and cakes throughout the day. The Chef has been accredited with the Gold Standard in North Yorkshire County Council’s Healthier Choices awards.

My dad has been in Belmont House for about 18 months, the care he has received has been excellent. We have been kept informed on all occasions about his health etc. The activities which are organised for the resi8dents are always fun and well thought out.

Mum has been here since 2013 and has been looked after in the best possible way from day 1. She has enjoyed her meals and the entertainment, she also likes to be pushed around the gardens and sit on the front patio as she is in a wheelchair. The staff are doing as much as possible in her care.

In my opinion, the three most important things are the care, cleanliness and food and drink. The carers and the staff carry out their duties perfectly. The cleaners are superb, there are no nasty smells. The food and drink are excellent, we have an extremely good chef, very well qualified who produces
a varied menu. Finally, all the people involved at Belmont House work very hard to create an extremely pleasant home.

Over the last few years, I have known two or three people spend time at Belmont House.
At present, my father is in the residential section and a very good friend is in the nursing wing, both of which are being looked after in an exceptional manner.
I would have no reservations in recommending this
care home to anybody.

A lovely atmosphere throughout the home. Very clean and staff friendly and cheerful. My wife is on the Promenade Unit and is very well cared for both during the day and at night. (I have made several visits at night). At all times the staff are not only very helpful but nothing is ever too much trouble
for them.


I am very happy that my wife is here and she might live longer than me. I feel secure in the knowledge that she is in an excellent home.

All nursing and care staff are extremely dedicated, caring and helpful ensuring resident clothes and bed linen are kept clean and fresh at all times, particularly immediately after ‘mishaps’. The rooms are kept very warm and there is plenty of excellent activity around to keep everyone occupied. The
food is also excellent, plentiful and varied with every effort taken to match everyone’s personal tastes. Treatment and stimulus regimes are tailored to suit the individual's needs to a very high standard.


Regular loss of personal belongings is a concern but staff, particularly the Activities lady, do constantly make every effort to find and recover the relevant articles. The general precautions to keep residents safe and secure, especially for severe dementia residents, are good.

Always made welcome when visiting my husband. Feel confident that he is being looked after very well. I would recommend this home to other people.
The chairs in the lounge really do need cleaning as there are a lot of stains on them and sometimes carry a smell of urine.

On entering Belmont House we found it a very warm and friendly. The staff all say "hello" to you. The activities are very good and the relatives are welcome to stay which is good for the residents. Rooms are very nice and warm. The staff are very caring and kind and I would be extremely likely to recommend
this care provider to friends and family.

Mum has been a resident on Courtyard suite in Belmont House since August 2015 and during that time, has received excellent care both physical and emotional. Mum has a lovely modern light room all kept very clean. I am impressed with all staff on Courtyard and also Belmont House as a whole from the cleaners,
laundry, admin team, kitchen, trolley, maintenance staff, the entertainment team and management.
I visit mum on most days so come into contact with many people around the premises and I am always made to feel welcome and there is a general feeling of friendliness and a desire to be helpful. Following an illness at Easter 2017, mum's care needs and dependencies increased significantly and since then the whole team on Courtyard have responded magnificently in a highly professional, attentive, friendly and reassuring way. Mum is treated with patience, respect and her welfare feels like everyone's priority. I am made welcome and kept informed and when mum was unwell, I felt supported by the staff. Thanks.

My review is about Promenade. The care from carers, on the whole, was excellent apart from one agency carer on one day.
The nurses have coped very well with the amount of illness on the unit in keeping everything running well. The activities lady for the unit, in spite of being ill herself, organised
as much as she could for the residents with good results.
Food has been consistently good but I do have a strong concern about the health and safety for the kitchen area of the unit.
It is good that the carers respond willingly to requests for help with the residents or sorting out a problem.

My mother was quite poorly when she came to Belmont, over the weeks, she has improved somewhat. All the staff I have encountered seem to be professional and very kind which is reassuring. Her room seems comfortable with a pleasant view.


Overall, my impression is that Belmont is a place of calmness

with an air of informality which puts one at ease. Security appears good, I have no concerns for my mother's safety or comfort. A very good care home.

The care my grandmother receives is outstanding. All the staff are so lovely they keep us informed and updated to the condition of my grandmother. I have had some issues, but hopefully often complaining, these have been dealt with.
These issues seem to be when they have some agency staff on duty.
The regular carers are very good and do a good job, under difficult circumstances. I feel sure the home would benefit with a supervisor.
On the whole,
my husband is being looked after very well and this is a good care home.
