This glamourous, late 1800s building was the former Barnardo’s Roberts Memorial Home, used to care for boys from 1910 until 1947 when the home first became a convalescent home. The bedrooms in the basement boast access to a private, secure courtyard, spacious lounge and dining room. All of the bedrooms have ensuite facilities are provided with furniture and there are communal shower rooms and bath amenities.

My sister is in the home and she couldn't get better care. She has 24 hour nursing care. The home is so clean. When I go, everybody is very nice and kind.

Ashfield Court is always a welcoming and happy place to visit. Staff are friendly, helpful and kind. The environment is always clean and tidy and a great effort is made to celebrate anything that needs celebrating! and to make the place look attractive. I believe that residents are treated with love
and respect and compassion and you can't ask for more that that!

I chose Ashfield Court for my friend from among the many I saw and visited in Harrogate. I have not been disappointed. My friend did not want to leave her own home so the transition was difficult. She is still not fully 100% happy but that is her not the home. The staff do all they can to help her,
she is well looked after; she is clean - her clothes are clean; her room is clean and she is well fed. There are numerous activities but she chooses not to take part - which is a great shame. I feel I could not have chosen better for her.

My mother has been resident for the past three weeks for nursing care. She is 88 and has pancreatic and liver cancer. She loved the home and her room form the beginning and the staff have been exceptional, from all the domestic staff, nurses and administration and management. They even counsel my family
who have been quite distraught about my mothers diagnosis. Honestly, I have never met a more helpful, friendly and compassionate set of people in my life. Word of mouth and a visit was all it needed for my mother and I to choose Ashfield Court thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.466)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.466) out of 10 for Ashfield Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.777 for Ashfield Court is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.777

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.689 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashfield Court is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.889

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Les Marshall

Job Title: Care Home Manager

Hello, I am Les your Home Manager at Ashfield Court.

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1997 after volunteering on a hospital ward and realised my passion for care.

I came to Rosedale in 2011 as a nurse and worked my way to a deputy position at the home becoming Deputy Manager in 2014 and then Manager in August 2019.

Les believe the most important aspect of a happy care home is ensuring that his residents and staff are happy and well looked after. By supporting the staff at the home and ensuring they are getting the best out of what they are doing and achieving their goals makes Ashfield Court the wonderful home it is.

We are one big happy family at Ashfield Court.
