Maple Lodge Care Home is located on the edge of Scotton, a quiet village in the North Yorkshire countryside, just south of Richmond. The home is within reach of shops, amenities, public transport and the A1.

This purpose-built care home provides nursing and social care for older people who are physically frail and older people who have mental health needs such as Alzheimer's disease.

Accommodation at Maple Lodge is provided in single occupancy rooms, all of which are with en-suite facilities. Some rooms are spacious enough for sharing.

Maple Lodge features lounges and separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy each others company at meal times. Traditional home-cooked meals using fresh produce are served with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for. Residents may also enjoy the conservatory which overlooks the surrounding countryside.

Regular visits are made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist.

The home provides a varied programme of activities for residents enjoyment.

The chef prepares a wide range of home-cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce.

Mum has been staying temporarily in Maple Lodge since April 2021 and our overall view as a family of the home and staff are excellent. Our anxiety as a family at leaving Mum in a home was very high which caused us to ring the home every day and we were never felt to feel a nuisance. We were informed
everytime there was an issue. I would definitely recommend this home to others.

Circumstances led to my amazing grandma to come and reside at Maple Lodge Care Home and I can honestly say we are so happy that she is here. Each visit Grandma has told us she is happy here and that's what matters to us. Grandma has been doing more than what she would normally have been doing since
she moved into here including walking regularly with a frame along the corridors which encourages strength and independence.
Grandma tells us she likes the food and loves the room she is in as she gets to see the comings and goings from her large bedroom window. The home is clean and warm and we have always had a warm welcome from the staff when we have visited (special thanks to one staff member in particular.) Always available to discuss anything and everything.
The staff provide a level of care that shows that they know the residents well and certainly get a good feedback review from my grandma. She is settled and nothing is too much trouble. Love visiting here.

Through Covid, I used to get regular updates via phone calls. That all stopped when the manager left. The phone is never answered. I have requested information via email and phone. But no reply. When a family member went to the door with items they were met with a sigh from the carer. Never seen the
blankets that were once there, glasses never to be seen. When I eventually saw my family member, we were upset at how they presented. Unkempt and scruffy. I personally would prefer to move, however, this would cause more distress. I attended a pre-booked birthday appointment to be told only one visitor. No phone call before to inform of this. Totally disorganised. We left distraught with no follow up from management. I note others have birthdays plastered all over social media, but not my family member. Absolutely nothing! Not even a photo sent to family showing him with his presents. Looking after someone with Alzheimer’s isn’t easy. But remember he’s somebody’s Dad and brother.

My nana went into Mapel Lodge in April. She was meant to be there for only 6 weeks to recover but, unfortunately, she has been able to come home as yet with one thing or another but the staff at the home have been fabulous with her. We couldn't have asked for better people to be looking after us, the
communication between them and us is class one. Although they are very short staffed they still have time to stop and chat to us to answer all our questions or worries. Although we hate Nana being in a home and not at home with us we, know she is safe and well looked after.

Our aunt has recently became a resident at Maple Lodge and how settled in well thanks to the very professional caring staff. A well-balanced nutritious wide ranging menu is available. The nursing team, being highly professional, alerted us to the lack of attention from previous the home! COVID issues
have been adhered to keeping residents and families up to date and staff are always available should I have concerns about any aspects of the home. Thank you to all staff, you're doing a sterling job!

Maple Lodge Care Home can only be described as a true home from home. This last year or so has been an awful time totally filled with stress and uncertainty but the staff at Maple Lodge have ensured the residents have felt loved and cared for throughout. At every visit from the window, I witnessed staff
giving my dad those extra little physical touches that reassure him he is loved and precious and they have had to take the place of us his family members. I am so so grateful to every member of staff for being there and always doing their utmost to ensure not just his care has been maintained but that his well being and mental health have been supported and any needs met. Thank you for standing in for us, his family, and I know there is a way to go yet so please continue to keep up the good work and know that we appreciate every single one of you and every single moment you are there caring for our loved ones.

I should think it's fairly rare to go somewhere and find that every member of staff has the same objective - to make every resident's day safe, clean, happy and interesting with lots to do. Every member of staff does their best to ensure that every resident feels comfortable, warm and well cared for.
It's a great place.

My husband broke his hip and suffered delirium from the operation. He was placed in care for six weeks supposedly for rehabilitation. I realise that Covid restrictions had an impact on everything particularly staffing levels and the snow didn’t help. However, I don’t feel that enough attention was paid
to getting him to exercise or assess his capacity to use stairs. The phone seemed to be mostly unmanned and getting someone to help him with his iPad for FaceTime was incredibly difficult. On window visits, I was distressed to see him wearing clothes that were not his and on one occasion he had an enormously oversized pair of trousers that prevented him moving as they fell down when he stood up.
On discharge day he was brought to the door in a thin shirt with no coat and had to get in the car in the snow. We have only half his clothes returned and one hearing aid lost. I made three phone calls about this but found the staff singularity unhelpful.

My wife was admitted to the dementia care unit at Maple Lodge five weeks ago. The quality of care which she has subsequently received has been outstanding. Nothing has been too much trouble for her carers and she has settled in really well. Clearly, the Lodge has a policy of maintaining close contact
with relatives and despite restrictions on visiting has managed to fulfil that need through numerous phone calls. Covid19 has made life difficult for everybody so I have nothing but admiration for all concerned with my wife’s care. Thank you!

Unfortunately over the past few months, both my parents have suffered conditions which require them to be resident at Maple Lodge. I was very worried and concerned about my parents having to lose their independence. As a family, we did not want our parents in a care environment
I must say that all
the staff have been fantastic at Maple Lodge and nothing is too much trouble and it's great that Mum and Dad can be resident in the same location. I understand that especially with Dad's condition that staff have their work cut out, but, they have been very understanding and compassionate and always keep me and my siblings up to date. Nothing has been too much trouble for any member of staff. Visits have been arranged in the garden area at short notice if needed (COVID conditions complied with at all times). Nothing has been too much trouble.
I would like to thank all staff for the care and understanding they provide consistently not only to our parents but to us as a family.

I would like to thank the manager and all the staff for the care love and compassion they have shown to mum and dad especially to dad who has been very difficult with his dementia. The staff are always very friendly and helpful when we ring up all the time. Mum and dad are only in for rest bite but
if it were to be made permanent we as a family would love them to stay with you. It has been a very upsetting few months for us as a family but now we are a lot happier as we know they are safe and well looked after. So from the bottom of our hearts, we as a family can not thank you all enough.

When my auntie was first told she had to go to Maple Lodge, I wasn't sure, I felt guilty leaving her in a strange place (that if I'm honest, was a bit scruffy and dated). However, improvements have been made, new decor, new carpet etc and it wasn't long before I realised that actually, Maple Lodge ticked
all my aunt's boxes with regards to needs, care and support. My aunt is probably happier at Maple Lodge than she would have been at home, and if she's happy and content, then so am I.

My mother-in-law was recently admitted to Maple Lodge with severe dementia and a broken hip. She was not responding to treatment and had stopped eating and drinking so we knew it was basically for end of life care. The manager and the team there were absolutely fantastic, so kind and caring. Although
it was her weekend off, the manager gave us her personal mobile phone number and told us to call at any time. The team kept in touch on a daily basis and nothing was too much trouble for them. During the last few days of her life, I was allowed to go and sit with her for a few hours each day. I wasn't really sure she knew I was there but it was very comforting to hear all the interaction between staff and residents in the background. There was always lots of laughter and general kindness all around the place. My mother-in-law finally passed away and I am aware that when collected, the undertakers told me she had a white rose placed on her chest. So lovely and respectful. Lovely staff.

Dad has been in Maple Lodge for over a year. Dad was taken to hospital on the 5th January 2020 very very poorly. Upon arrival at Hospital it was commented by several different Nursing Staff and Doctor's, how well they could see Dad was cared for and that all his notes were very well written up. We felt
we should reiterate the compliments as all the Staff at Maple Lodge work so hard and do a fabulous job of what is a very difficult job looking after residents and families. We as a family receive great support from the Carers and Nursing Staff alike. We'd like to thank you all on doing such a great job.

Since my Dad came to the Maple Lodge care home he has been really well looked after. He came from Portugal, doesn't speak any English and is quite deaf. The staff go above and beyond to make him comfortable and look after him and I would say he is not the easiest to look after. A big thank you to everyone

My father was admitted in August due to ill health and from day one, he got looked after like one of the family. He loved it - the staff could not do enough for him and two ladies stood out, although we could not fault the others. Sadly Dad lost his fight on 30th October 2019. Heaven must be short of
angels because most work at Maple Lodge. Love you all and wish I could give ten stars.

Pleasant view from the room of grass and trees. Room furniture is adequate. Resident cat, Lexie, visits my room most days, less often when the weather is good.
The activities lady just changed, also the home manager.

In my caring career, I have gained NVQs 2 and 3 in care, safe handling of medications, moving and handling, team leadership, and first aider, as well as progressing to become the home's first-ever Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP). I live in Catterick Garrison with my two daughters Chloe and Katie, and our cat Timmy.

Most of my work previous experience is in customer service, although I did care in my very first job and decided I wanted to get back into it, and I am pleased I did. I have learnt so much since starting at Maple Lodge, the current manager teaches me a lot as well. I have almost finished my Health & Social Care Level 2 qualification and also passed my Maths & English with grades C's.


I live in Catterick Garrison with my husband David and have five children, Kyle, Kane, Sophie, Jamie and Kieren. Most of my free time outside of work is spent with my family.


The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is the different responsibilities given to me with my multiple roles. The manager supports me and hopefully trusts me with jobs being given and getting done, and I like the fact that the manager is approachable. I always feel I go home having made a difference in the resident's day. I have no qualifications within care yet, but I'm aiming to do my care qualifications soon to better myself and to ensure I'm giving the best possible care to our residents and being the best I can possibly be.


In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We go walking around North Yorkshire, as it's such a beautiful place. My husband and I challenged ourselves for charity a few years ago to walk the Yorkshire three peaks. I enjoyed the challenge and seeing how far we could push ourselves physically and mentally. I have worked as a carer in some capacity or another since the age of 21. After taking a break to have my children, I returned to being a carer. I believe that jobs in the care sector are one of the most important jobs there is and take a great deal of satisfaction at the end of a shift. I have a QCF level 2 in health and social care. I recently switched to a domestic position as my main role, as the hours suit my home life better.


Looking after my two children, one of whom is autistic, takes up the majority of my time, often attempting to balance forming some semblance of a social life whilst trying to cling on to my sanity! But I do enjoy attending my local church on Sundays and helping out with their mother and toddlers group.


The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is getting to know the residents and chatting to them about their lives.
