Maple Lodge Care Home is located on the edge of Scotton, a quiet village in the North Yorkshire countryside, just south of Richmond. The home is within reach of shops, amenities, public transport and the A1.

This purpose-built care home provides nursing and social care for older people who are physically frail and older people who have mental health needs such as Alzheimer's disease.

Accommodation at Maple Lodge is provided in single occupancy rooms, all of which are with en-suite facilities. Some rooms are spacious enough for sharing.

Maple Lodge features lounges and separate dining rooms, where residents can enjoy each others company at meal times. Traditional home-cooked meals using fresh produce are served with daily choices being available. Special diets can be catered for. Residents may also enjoy the conservatory which overlooks the surrounding countryside.

Regular visits are made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and a qualified chiropodist.

The home provides a varied programme of activities for residents enjoyment.

The chef prepares a wide range of home-cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce.

A big thank you to all the staff at Maple Lodge for the incredible job they did caring for my father-in-law. He joined Maple Lodge following an illness which meant he needed a wheelchair for mobility; after a short time, he was walking on his own and even skipping down the corridors. The staff have
been extremely courteous, caring and compassionate with my father-in-law and members of my family. During our almost daily visits over the past year, we have built up trust and confidence in the staff and observed the interaction between them and him. He was part of the Maple Lodge family group and we have been completely content with the care he received and know that he was happy at Maple Lodge; because he told us often. Sadly, my father-in-law passed away recently and it is a testament to the care and devotion felt by the staff of Maple Lodge that so many of them attended his funeral. We will always be grateful to all the staff for giving my father-in-law an improved quality of life during his time with them; we wish them well in future.

My mother was a resident for three years at Maple Lodge Care Home.
It is a purpose-built facility with wide corridors, a pleasant dining room and a large conservatory.
The staff were caring and friendly.
My mother was treated with great tact, concern and kindness during a difficult period at the
end of her life.

Everyone who works at Maple Lodge does everything possible for the good of the residents. It is a bright, welcoming home with excellent facilities. They go the extra mile with activities programme and, where possible, this includes visits to coffee mornings and social events at other venues. The residents
receive excellent care and good food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for residential care.

My dad has been in this home on respite 2 times now. The staff have looked after him so well. He is always clean and tidy and with him having this care and good food his blood sugars are so good, he looks amazing.

In this area, Maple Lodge operated by Burlington Care is about as good as it gets.

The activities have improved but could be tailored and offered to individual residents not only a group activity.

My stepdad was admitted to hospital in July 2018. The night carer who spent the night in accident and emergency with him was so caring and compassionate.
He is very happy to be back in the home with familiar faces. He arrived back to a lovely welcome and more importantly a delicious meal.

Since my husband was admitted to the care home, I noticed a big improvement. Things have been changed for the better in running the care home. The house manager is putting every effort into doing what he can to the running of the place to a higher standard and is doing a good job. Very helpful when
needing to know about things. Nursing staff very caring, kind and attentive not forgetting the carers, can't do enough for the residents. I am happy knowing my husband has settled in well and gives me peace of mind, knowing he is in a safe and caring place, being looked after. Bedroom very small and not enough space to move round in.

Lovely home, my Nanna is very well cared for.

Mum came into Maple Lodge in January 2018 after a period in hospital. This was not a ‘planned’ for move and mum has needed and been given a lot of support, encouragement and care by all of the staff.
This has not been an easy time but has been made much easier through the understanding of the manager
and the trust and confidence that we have in him to manage mum's safety and care. Living a long distance away I have been helped to stay in touch through emailed letters and phone calls to mum via both the manager and staff and have had all of my questions answered which is very reassuring. Staff are friendly and work hard, clearly caring for their residents, and I feel able to contact the home without being a nuisance!

My mother spent 4 weeks in Maple Lodge. During that time, her hearing aids were put through the laundry and her glasses went missing.
I found the bedroom corridors frequently smelt of urine. Staff were difficult to find, and the reception was frequently unmanned.
Despite being told that mum needed
assistance dressing and washing, this was not done. Mum's dentures went missing for 3 days, and upon checking the pot she soaks them in, I found it full of dirty water.
The "activities" consisted largely of putting either the TV or CD player on. In the afternoons, an activity called 1-2-1 seemed to consist of nothing more than putting residents into a common room and leaving them there.
I will never let my mum go into this home again.

My dear husband spent the last 8months of his life at this amazing nursing home. Sadly I could not manage any longer at home. Their care for him was amazing, such kindness and he was treated with great dignity. The entire team were like a family to us, I spent the last 8nights at the home when his end
of life was imminent. They made me so welcome. His needs were great as he couldn't walk, talk or swallow but the staff dealt with it all with such compassion and professionalism. I cannot thank Maple Lodge enough.

In my caring career, I have gained NVQs 2 and 3 in care, safe handling of medications, moving and handling, team leadership, and first aider, as well as progressing to become the home's first-ever Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP). I live in Catterick Garrison with my two daughters Chloe and Katie, and our cat Timmy.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is I enjoy spending time with and ensuring my residents are safe, clean, and tidy. I like knowing that I am helping them to enjoy their retirement years in a comfortable and homely environment as much as possible.

In my career I have gained NVQ2 & NVQ3 in care, NVQ2 & Diploma level 3 in business administration, NVQ2 in customer service, and certificates in dementia care, health & safety and diabetes care.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, watching TV, going to the cinema, holidays and attending church. I started a degree in forensic psychology in October 2020.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2023. Prior to this, I joined the army at 16 years old and served for 23 years in the Royal Artillery. Upon leaving the forces, I retrained as a plumber. I worked for B&Q as a bathroom fitter before going self-employed with my own business for 15 years. I then closed my business and joined Maple Lodge as the flexible part-time working week enabled me to spend quality time with my grandson.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking with my dog, going to the gym and trying to keep fit. I also collect and restore military firearms.

I have been married to my wife Sue for 35 years and we have two daughters and one grandson. We have our parents still in our hometowns, Eaglescliffe and Newcastle Upon Tyne where I was born.

Since I started work at Maple Lodge I have gained my NVQ2 in care, certificates in the safe handling of medication, the principles of dementia care, and an understanding of behaviour that challenges. I am also the home's dementia champion. I enjoy having lazy days with my daughters or spending any spare time with my friends and family. I live in Catterick Garrison with my husband David and have five children, Kyle, Kane, Sophie, Jamie and Kieren. Most of my free time outside of work is spent with my family.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is the different responsibilities given to me with my multiple roles. I chose to work in care as I really enjoy it and I find it extremely rewarding not one day is the same, every day is different and brings new challenges. I recently changed over the the domestic department as this suited my family life with a young child.

I always feel I go home having made a difference in the resident's day. I have no qualifications within care yet, but I'm aiming to do my care qualifications soon to better myself and to ensure I'm giving the best possible care to our residents and being the best I can possibly be.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We go walking around North Yorkshire, as it's such a beautiful place. My husband and I challenged ourselves for charity a few years ago to walk the Yorkshire three peaks. I enjoyed the challenge and seeing how far we could push ourselves physically and mentally. I am married to Russell and have four children; a 20-year-old son, Christian, an 18-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn,, a 9-year-old son, George, and an 18-month-old daughter, Gabrielle. I have worked as a carer in some capacity or another since the age of 21. After taking a break to have my children, I returned to being a carer. I believe that jobs in the care sector are one of the most important jobs there is and take a great deal of satisfaction at the end of a shift. I have a QCF level 2 in health and social care. I recently switched to a domestic position as my main role, as the hours suit my home life better.

Looking after my two children, one of whom is autistic, takes up the majority of my time, often attempting to balance forming some semblance of a social life whilst trying to cling on to my sanity! But I do enjoy attending my local church on Sundays and helping out with their mother and toddlers group.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is getting to know the residents and chatting to them about their lives. I also enjoy working as part of a team, and over the years, Maple Lodge has become a familiar home from home.
