Since my husband arrived on 20th December he has had the best care from the dedicated staff. It took a while for him to settle in but is happy now and has accepted that this is the best environment for him to be in at this stage of his life. Thank you.

We have visited our friend many times in the last year and have always been impressed with Oaklands Nursing Home. The deco is always Immaculate, the place is nice and warm, and all the staff are most polite and caring. Even after all this, improvements are always happening. My friend tells me the food
is lovely and he really enjoyed it. He is getting a slightly larger bedroom which he is looking forward to. My friend enjoys the friendly atmosphere and has acquired quite a few friends. All in all, a very nice place.

After initial concern regarding change of ownership, things have now settled down.
A large amount of work has now been completed and the home is now 100% improved on before. Obviously the new management team are very dedicated on proving improved care for all residents.

Reply from Anto TBC, Home Manager at Oaklands Nursing Home

Mum came to stay at Oaklands after a spell in hospital. I am just so delighted about the care and welcome she received. All the staff are so friendly and caring and go above and beyond to help Mum get mobile again. She really enjoyed the food and activities. Getting visits from dogs and even meerkats
kept her spirits up. As soon as she arrived they helped her set up both her phone and tablet as they know how important they were to her. I can so recommend Oaklands.

My mother, of 95 years old with severe dementia, moved to Oaklands Care Home after her previous home closed down in December 2022. I cannot fault the care she received and feel very lucky to have found you - it was outstanding at every level. I visited regularly and she was always dressed well, encouraged
to eat, given personal attention to her needs and looked after with dignity. You were angels for her. The nursing care she received when she deteriorated further was also outstanding, kind, professional and informed. I found everyone conscientious, kind and attentive. I knew she was in a place I trusted.
She only spent five months there and sadly died in May 2023. Though we are heartbroken, our family feel grateful for the level of care you showed her at all stages. Thank you to all of you, I have nothing but admiration for your attention to detail and highly recommend your care home to anyone wishing for an excellent home for their relative.

All the staff at Oaklands Care Home are amazing! Each and every one showed that they really care for the residents at the home and the level of care provided to my mother was nothing short of outstanding. We could ring or visit any time and would always be warmly welcomed and I should also say thanks
for the endless cups of tea. Thank you for the ongoing support that you continue to provide and thank you for making my mother's stay with you as comfortable as possible. You deserve high recommendation for those looking for care for an elderly relative.

I cannot thank enough the care and attention my father has received in the care home since his arrival. He is very much at "home" in his new surroundings and feels supported, safe and secure. Our family are very reassured by the feedback from staff that is always in a timely, professional and courteous
fashion regarding my father ongoing health.

Whenever we visit the care home I am always happy how well and cared for my sister-in-law us. The staff are always happy and willing to talk to you and discuss her. We haven't been for a while which is very understanding. I think they do there very best in every way.

Unable to return home from the hospital after a fall, arrangements were made for Mum to stay at Oaklands. Arrangements happened very quickly due to the Covid situation. I was anxious as was Mum as we couldn't see each other, so unable to travel or settle her in. Mum transferred by ambulance and I went
later with clothes etc. We were both welcomed by members of staff, I was introduced by the manager to a few members of the team, all of us following current guidelines. It has been an extremely difficult time for Mumand I not able to see each other but knowing Mum is safe and being looked after so well is a comfort. I can ring at any time and hoping for a visit soon when situations improve.

Mum had spent almost a year at Oaklands Care Home. Sadly, she passed away two weeks ago. All I can say is that the care and the compassion shown to Mum has been outstanding.
The carers and staff are coping in a very, very difficult time and putting themselves on the front line.
The staff really care
about their residents and, I mean really, care. We were kept informed throughout her demise, gently and carefully things were explained to us.
I never wanted Mum to have to have 24 hour care and have to be in a care home, but we as a family are so pleased we chose Oaklands and would highly recommend it to those looking for care for an elderly relative.

My father came to Oakland’s for palliative care. He passed away today, following the tremendous care given by the staff that looked after him. Dad was treated with the utmost dignity and respect at all times. He had complex needs and every member of staff who cared for Dad, did so with compassion, high
standards and extreme care. Nothing was too much trouble. Losing my father has been truly heartbreaking but this awful journey during the Covid pandemic was made easier by the care my father received from the amazing staff. Thank you to each and every one of you.

On arrival, I was met by very friendly staff from the manager to all carers. Every aspect has been very professional. My wife has improved no end since her arrival.
It has only been 3 days but so far it has been very friendly and professional service.

More activities are needed. The outside space for the dementia unit needs to be made safe so that it can be used. Things do seem to be improving. The staff are good.

Our stepfather has settle din well at Oaklands. The manager is very good and the carers are lovely. We find it hard sometimes as things are missing, like fitted sheets on beds, which would make things more comfortable. Also, residents in Acorn can not go outside due to the decking needing repairing.
This is not very good as they are confined to staying put which is not good as they need fresh air.

Reply from Sam Kuppusamy, Home Manager at Oaklands Nursing Home

Thank you for bring this to our attention. As discussed with you we have systems to avoid items going missing. We will continue to have dialogue with you to ensure that these issues don’t happen again.
Re the Decking, we have refereed it to estates who are attending to it as from next week.

The manager really cares the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble they are always on hand and all visitors are made very welcome no matter when you visit. The home is kept so clean and the food is great as is the presentation. Everyone gets treated like Royalty. If I had to go into
a care home this is the one.
If I had to mark 10/10 it would be 10.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.982)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.982) out of 10 for Oaklands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.700 for Oaklands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.7

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.282 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaklands Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.682

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
