Couldn't ask for kinder people/staff to care for my wonderful Dad. For the 3 months my Dad was in Jubilee House, Whithy he was loved, and dealt with care and kindness by all the staff. Every effort was made to make what little time he had in comfort and surrounded by caring people who work very hard
in a busy environment that has a lovely feel to it. Every effort has been made to make it inviting for all, it is a fantastic place made more lovely by the great standard of care and kindness by such wonderful carers. I appreciate you all, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The care at Jubilee House is outstanding. My Mam came into the home after being very poorly and having had a two-month stay in the Hospital, she has picked up so much and become her happy, smiling self again thanks to the lovely staff who are always happy, polite and so wonderful and genuinely caring.
She has a lovely room, meets new friends, enjoys the activity games and also the occasional visits of pets, bus rides out, and is very close by to see the sea - what a wonderful atmosphere for all of the residents.
I cannot thank the staff at Jubilee House enough.

When I arrive to visit my mum she always has a smile for everyone. All the staff are very caring towards her needs and are always at hand to help and talk to her, nothing is too much trouble. She enjoys the activities, entertainment and visits to other venues which is nice to see. It is lovely to be
made so welcome by everyone, the staff always have time to interact with residents and visitors too and are always available which makes this a happy caring home.

My mum was discharged from hospital into the care of Jubilee House and I am so pleased that she was. From the moment she arrived, I knew this was absolutely the right move for my mum. The whole team at Jubilee are fab and they are brilliant with all of the residents (and relatives too!) Nothing is too
much trouble. Jubilee House has a wonderful feeling about it. The way they care for people is evident. I’m lucky enough to be able to spend time with my mum most days and it’s like visiting a big family! If I’m not able to visit for any reason, I know she is safe and well looked after and that’s a huge relief. I honestly can’t thank them enough and I’m so grateful to each and every one of them.

The staff at Jubilee House are all very approachable, caring and professional. Whenever I have a concern or need any help or advice with regards to Mum, the managers have always been able to spare the time and have been understanding and helpful. Mum is happy, feels secure and is much calmer now that
she lives at Jubilee House. She is well-fed and entertained.

My husband took a while to settle, but with the patience of carers has now settled much better. I do not need to worry about his care anymore. He is clean and says he enjoys being there. The only shortfall is not having a lot of outside space to sit out in the good weather. Every effort is made to keep
him occupied and happy and he is much fitter since he went into Jubilee House. I, and my family are pleased with the way things are.

Despite my age (93) and health, I find the staff a very happy "bunch" and nothing is too much trouble.

The first thing that hits you when you walk into Jubilee House Care Home is the warm, inviting and happy atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble and the level of care that staff show their residents is heartwarming. My father tells me that the staff are kind and attend to all his needs, no matter how
trivial, with a smile. He enjoys the food (thanks chef) and, with gentle encouragement and support, he has been able to take a short walk outside. The manager and her team are receptive to learning about their residents and skilfully use this knowledge to help them settle. The nursing team are attentive and thorough and healthcare assistants are cheerful and supportive. Housekeeping staff keep rooms and public areas clean and welcoming. Communication with relatives is very good which is so important. Thank you to the management and team.

My father was admitted from hospital into Jubilee House as he could no longer be cared for at home due to the deterioration of his Alzheimers Disease whilst in hospital. I never thought Dad would settle in a care home as he has always been fiercely independent, but with the exemplary care from the manager
and her amazing team Dad has settled so well and more than we could have hoped for! He had been in hospital since Nov 17th 2022 and had lost so much weight as he just wasn't eating and this became a great concern however since being in the home he has put on a stone already, he's more engaged with us as well as the other staff and residents, he's enjoying his food again but most importantly he's safe and extremely well cared for. The home is always spotlessly clean, the staff can't do enough for you. We have lost so much of Dad due to his Alzheimers but thanks to all the staff Dad is more like himself now with smiles for us and his sense of humour back. The manager we can't thank you and your team enough!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.644)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.644) out of 10 for Jubilee House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.844 for Jubilee House is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.844

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Jubilee House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Assistant

After more than a decade at Jubilee House, there isn’t much Care Assistant Carolyn Mcloughlin doesn’t know about providing excellent care for our residents.
She first joined the home as a cleaner but was immediately taken by the work the carers did and jumped at the opportunity to join their ranks.
“I loved seeing the way they cared for the residents and the difference it made to their daily lives,” she says. “I decided then and there that that was something I really wanted to be a part of and have loved it ever since.”
“We provide a home from home. Of course we can never truly take the place of their families but we can get as close to that as we can and look after them, make sure they are happy, safe and content. It provides a great deal of satisfaction to be able to sit down, one to one, and put a smile on someone’s face with a chat, a laugh and a bit of banter. That is what care for me is all about.
“When I am away from the home I miss the residents and look forward to seeing them all again.”
