My 84-year-old father-in-law moved in with us because he had terminal cancer and needed help with daily living. When he could no longer manage the stairs in our home, we started looking for a care facility. Our palliative care nurse recommended Oak Trees in Alne.
My father-in-law spent the last six
weeks of his life with the wonderful team there. From the very start, the staff could not have been more supportive of both him, but also myself and the rest of our family. From taking the time to show us around and allowing us to choose which room he had, to the warm welcome he received on the day of his arrival. The nurses, carers, cooks and laundry assistants, the management team and activities coordinator; each member of staff took the time to get to know him and make sure that he felt settled and cared for. Visitors were always welcome, we popped in every day, witnessing on a daily basis the fantastic and dignified care he received. I absolutely cannot recommend Oak Trees highly enough.

My father has been in Oak Trees for 4 months, he is 91 and has Parkinson's. He has been very well cared for by the staff, everyone is very friendly and they have a good relationship with my dad and the other residents. His condition has fluctuated over the last few months but they have got to know him
and adjust his care depending on his needs at that time. I'm always made to feel very welcome and it's starting to feel like we are part of a family there.

My father has been in Oak Trees for just over four years, suffering from age-related Dementia. During that time he has received first rate care carried out with kindness and sensitivity which is not always easy with Dementia patients. My brother, sister and I all live a considerable distance away and
can only visit once each month. Every time we call (on spec) he looks well cared for, the whole building is clean and pleasant smelling and we are welcomed.
I once asked a friend, who visited many homes in relation to her job, how she would choose a good one. She replied that I should look at the faces of residents when approached by staff. I have seen nothing but pleasure on those faces in Oak Trees.
I would highly recommend it.

My relative has been in Oak Trees for two years and her residency has changed her life and ours. The security, care, and family atmosphere created by the Fisher Partnership and its excellent staff have turned around the concerns of my relative and all her family. We are kept informed at all times, the
nursing staff are excellent, and the NCAs are always there to help. All the staff have wonderful empathy. We were very lucky to have Oak Trees recommended to us.

Like coming home to family and friends. So clean and welcoming. Everyone can't do enough for you. Care for the resident is their first concern. My room is booked if I ever need it.

We were extremely happy with the care my mother received at Oak Trees. The staff were caring and friendly from the matron to the cleaner. All the staff always had time for mum, everyone made time to chat with her.
When mum passed away the kindness we were shown as a family was second to none. We couldn't
have been happier with the care provided.

I knew Oaks Trees was the right place for my Mum the moment I walked through the door. A lovely atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful when showing me around. My mum was extremely well looked after in the 9 months she was a resident. Her clothes and room were always clean. Entertainment and games
were a regular feature. It was also nice that the staff helped residents families when they visited. I honestly could not have found a better home than Oak Trees. Many thanks to all the staff.

Oak Trees is a lovely, small, caring, home that almost has the atmosphere of a country house. My Aunt has lived there for over 2 years, is comfortable and nicely looked after by an informed, patient, stable and skilled group of staff. We have never had occasion for significant complaint, we are always
welcomed and are kept informed. The Matron has a lovely manner with the residents and their families and the home is beautifully kept. Food is freshly prepared and looks tasty and appropriate assistance is usually offered. The building is well positioned and maintained, warm, clean and welcoming. My Aunt is treated with respect and dignity and all necessary care is given. We count ourselves lucky that she lives in so good a care home and recommend Oak Trees without reservation.

My Mother, who is unable to walk and suffers from dementia, mainly short-term memory loss, is treated with respect, kindness and good humour. The environment at Oak Trees is professional but in a friendly way. We are always made welcome whenever we visit and I am very pleased that there was a place
free for my Mother when she needed it. We would recommend Oak Trees without hesitation.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.413)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.413) out of 10 for Oak Trees Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.838 for Oak Trees Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 80 Ratings = 4.838

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.575 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Trees Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.875

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
