Amarna House has been offering residential, dementia and respite care to the residents of the York area for the past ten years.

Couples and companions are warmly welcomed in the home where their well-being, comfort, and happiness are a top priority.

Benefits including the support of the Friends of Amarna House, who staff the Book Nook Café and regularly visit (sometimes with their dogs).

Residents can take advantage of an indoor garden, and alternative therapies. They can also pamper themselves by having their hair done in the hairdressers or nails done in the nail bar.

While there is a focus on dementia, there is also an emphasis on activity for all.

The home is firmly established in the local community, has its own minibus for trips out and receives plenty of visits from the surrounding schools and colleges.

The chefs make a point of incorporating the home-grown fresh herbs and vegetables into the menus, which are designed around the preferences of residents.

Due to Covid restrictions, it is very difficult to give a true review of all the facilities as we are not allowed in rooms, kitchen, dining etc, however, the team that is looking after our mum are very kind and caring, we know she is in the best place for her circumstances. It is very upsetting having
to put a loved one in a home but we know she is being cared for. Wish we could see her more often without masks, gloves and aprons and try to get back to as normal as possible under the difficult situation we found ourselves in last November.

For three years my father has had excellent care from all your staff. He is 100 years old and recently had another new hip. The care he has had has been amazing, so glad he is in Amarna House.

My mother has been a resident at Amarna House Care Home for over 2 years and during that time she has been very happy and content. During the time that my brother has been in the care of Amarna House the level of care has been outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble - the patience and understanding of his needs on all levels have been met. The kindness for the family during a very difficult time has been amazing and I cannot thank
them all enough for all that they do on every level. On visiting, we are made very welcome and the example set of how things should be run is right there!

We were greeted on arrival with welcome smiles and greetings. The room has a large window, not much view but bright skies and treetops in view. The food is appetising and plentiful.
Frequent offers of drinks, biscuits or cake and once a beautiful birthday cake!
The place is always warm and clean.
The dining room is bright. The carers approach is to give time for answers and no pressure in having to comply to any rules if my husband does not want to do and care is given to keep him safe.

Linda Donnellan-Beevers

Linda is a Qualified Nurse with over 25 years of experience in the NHS and Care Industry. She has worked for Avery Healthcare for 13 years in roles such as Regional Support Manager, Quality and Home Manager. Linda has a hands-on approach and the residents are at the forefront of Care Delivery. She promotes a supportive well-being working environment with diversity and equality throughout. Linda advocates person-centred care and for residents to have direct involvement in how the home is managed.

Mollie Dickinson

Mollie joined the team four years ago with a care background in Home Administration. Mollie supports the Home Manager in many aspects including recruitment, HR, and Contracts and is always on hand with any questions in relation to Finances.

Alicia Stephenson

Job Title: Home Trainer

Joined: 2021

Alicia started at Amarna working as a care assistant before progressing into a Senior Carer and then a Team Leader role.


She then progressed further into the Home Trainer and is responsible for keeping the staff up to date with the relevant training and also supporting the mental health and well-being of the staff and residents.
