The home is clean and personnel friendly. I find the decor of Mum's room to be a little on the drab side, personally I would have thought that a brighter decor would be more appropriate.


Whilst participation is very much down to residents, I would have hoped for more emphasis on availability of

activities - a daily film perhaps is not overly difficult to provide? Maybe involvement in flower arranging for use throughout the home??


Mum has been less than complimentary about the food standard - I would add, however, that my personal experience of a midday meal was that it was very good, I am not convinced that Mum's view is the norm! - maybe a reaction to no longer providing meals for herself.

I am very happy here because it is like being in your own home but with the knowledge that if I need help in any way, it is here for me. The meals are excellent - 3 great meals a day, plus coffee time with snack. I am surrounded by kind and friendly people all the time. We have a wonderful garden
to enjoy. We are entertained and have lots of opportunities to make friends so one never feels lonely!

My mother has been a resident for two years and recently had to move to the dementia wing.
The move was handled very sensitively. The staff are very attentive and friendly, taking time with each resident to engage and interact/stimulate them. Activities are good and outside visits and walks valued
and are key memories for mum.

My mother moved into Connaught Court five years ago to be with my father who needed nursing care there. My father's last year was much enhanced by the care and support he found there. After his death, mum stayed on and has a wide circle of friends and enjoys all of the entertainment and outings that
are provided, so she is never lonely or bored. Staff are invariably helpful and supportive and all facilities and rooms are clean and well furnished. Overall, we have been delighted and have no regrets or worries.

Lovely care home, so pleased mum is here.
She has been here for over 2 years. She is able to maintain her independence in a dignified manner and the staff are always on hand to give her caring support. Her room is very comfortable with things from our family home. They have activities on which she
is able to join in with but there is no pressure if she wants a quiet time. Yes, I am very impressed and think it's a lovely place for mum to live.

Connaught Court is very simply the best of its type. Having elderly infirm relatives in both Scotland and Yorkshire we've looked at countless of homes for our family.
Walking into Connaught Court the first time was such a pleasant surprise. After visits to dark, smelly places with chairs around the
walls and board residents. Well done!

I find it absolutely excellent the only trouble was the night staff but the management have sorted that out.
That is the only complaint I had otherwise this place is absolutely excellent to me. It does everything for me.

At the RMBI we provide person centred care to all our residents, accommodating their personal wishes as much as possible. Our rooms all have a standard size, that allows residents to have personal space and also to add their own furniture if they wish to do so. My relative has been a resident in the Knavesmire Unit for 10 months. Throughout that period we have found the standard of care very high. The staff are professional and efficient and he wants for nothing. They work particularly hard to create a warm and friendly atmosphere, in which they succeed and
go about their jobs in an open and good-humoured way. We are also pleased with the regularity of entertainment laid on for the residents and the surroundings are pleasant and as homely as possible. Our one niggle was the poor handling of our (initial) application process which could have been done with greater care and consideration.

Marinda

Marinda Aydinalp

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2014

Marinda Aydinalp joined Connaught Court as Deputy Home Manager in June 2014. In February 2022, she was promoted to Home Manager.


Marinda demonstrates clear vision, passion and dedication for the residents in her care. She played a significant part in Connaught Court being rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC in 2023.


Marinda leads a highly experienced and dedicated team. She inspires them by being a role model in both her leadership and her passion for delivering the best care for residents.


Marinda has achieved the Dementia Care Mapping qualification whilst also pursuing an NVQ Level 5 Apprenticeship Programme. This demonstrates her commitment to continuously expanding her knowledge, enabling her to provide exceptional dementia care.


Marinda has created a Namaste Room, which allows residents living with dementia to enjoy a relaxing environment. The room has sensory equipment, including tactile walls, fibre optic lights, a star projector and bubble tubes, which support residents’ mental health and well-being.
